When you are trying to lose/maintain,

How often do you weigh yourself?

Or do you use a different tool of measurement?

Hardly ever. If I'm actively bringing my weight down a bit I will weigh weekly. Otherwise I go by how my clothing fits.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/01/2023 15:56

Weekly only. I weighed between Christmas Eve and boxing day and had put on half a pound but actually when I weighed on my usual day after a week I'd lost 3lbs.

SnowyMouse · 07/01/2023 15:58

I weigh daily and look at the trend.

AutumnIsMyFavouriteSeason · 07/01/2023 16:14

Daily or at least 3-4 times a week. Prevents any nasty surprises Confused

gwenneh · 07/01/2023 16:16

Daily, same time every day, as a part of the routine.

CottonSock · 07/01/2023 16:20

Daily. Helps me control myself. It's become a bit of a habit though.

JJ213 · 07/01/2023 17:13

I've been doing daily.

Aiming for weekly. I've weighed daily years ago but after a while I started realising it doesn't help me. If I've lost weight over 24 hours I tend to tell myself "well it's probably just a natural weight fluctuation, not real" but if I've gained I think it's because I'm failing. Yes I know this is entirely illogical.

Kaylisa · 07/01/2023 20:44

Daily. I don’t get upset seeing it going up and down over the days. I can understand why people don’t want to weigh daily, but I find it the most helpful way.

JJ213 · 08/01/2023 18:43

Interesting. I am weighing daily and use to weigh weekly before.

Daily. But I'm also anal enough to have a spreadsheet where I record it every day and work out the weekly average.

UhhhhhhhOK · 09/01/2023 19:52

We threw our fancy scales out since it was dirty and couldn’t be bothered replacing the batteries😆

judge weight loss based on belts and jeans getting looser and energy levels

the only time it’s a struggle is answering questionnaires

Ragwort · 09/01/2023 19:59

Never .. I can tell by my clothes if I've lost or put on weight.

GreyTS · 09/01/2023 20:08

Weekly, every Monday morning to check the damage from the weekend, if I've put on a kg or 2 though I'll weigh daily until back to normal

MrAloysiusSnuffleupagus · 09/01/2023 20:09

Daily when losing. Now maintaining, probably once ever 7-10 days.

thisusernameisnotavailablepleasetryanother · 09/01/2023 20:13

1st of each month

bellac11 · 09/01/2023 20:17

Daily as I can gain or lose up to around 9lbs overnight. If I were to weigh weekly and that day happened to be the day I gained 9lbs, I would be devastated and wouldnt understand the trend

Its remarkable how much it fluctuates. Its water obviously but despondent if you saw it on the Monday after starting a new diet!!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 10/01/2023 00:10

Daily. It keeps me on track...

Losing weight, so I do it every day, keeps me accountable and keeps me on track, I know how much I tend to fluctuate, so not concerned if I'm up 1lb since the day before, but quicker to spot when you've not been doing what you should have, can nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem. Don't like the thought of putting 4lbs on in a week and not realising.
I give myself a break if I'm allowing myself some days off, so over Christmas didn't weigh for a few days, but then went straight back to it.
I know some people hate it, but it stops me spiralling on a Monday, just because I'm not weighing until Sunday 😂

ifonly4 · 10/01/2023 14:56

While losing weight weekly, occasionally twice a week. At other times, about once a month.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/01/2023 15:42

I vary. When I’m struggling I tend to weigh daily, but I think it’s a bit of a self punishment kind of thing. When I’m doing well on my food and exercising lots I tend to stick to weekly weigh ins, with maybe a mid week progress check for motivation.

smileladiesplease · 10/01/2023 17:59

Daily at the gym. Get obsessed to b honest

S70V12 · 12/01/2023 05:51

This is best way to go about it.
would also suggest adding calories, protein, carbs, fats, sleep approx in hrs amd steps to spreadsheet on daily basis
them take their average.
compsre calories and macros to your targets from website such as fitness volt.

also record body measurements once a week
take progress pics once a week
get accountability partner 2-4 litres of water / day
10k steps if possible / day
resistance train 3X week
