I have lost 100lbs

I have a huge announcement to make. It's so huge I'm creating a new thread.

I have lost 100lbs.

If anyone finds it, I don’t want it back. I’ve gone from a BMI of over 50 to a BMI of under 35. I’ve gone from being super obese to just obese. So I’m still not thin, but I’m a lot nearer than I used to be.

My highest weight was in May 2021. I lost about a stone or so in the rest of the year, with the majority of my weight loss in 2022. My tracking app says my average weight loss this year has been 1.87lbs, so although I’ve lost a lot in total it’s still within what is widely considered to be the safe range.

When I started I made a list I called “100 reasons to lose 100lbs” although it actually only has 87 reasons (and a couple seem to have made it on there twice). Reading it back over, a lot of them have now changed. I couldn’t fit in my engagement ring – actually I still can’t, but it’s now because it’s too big rather than too small. Because it’s been such a gradual change over time some of them are areas I hadn’t thought about or noticed. The bed used to creak, but I don't remember the last time it did or even that it stopped.

Some of the reasons I’m still working on. I have specific pieces of clothing I’d like to wear and I can’t wait for onederland (which is soon!). I want to keep going until I have a normal BMI. The app is predicting I’ll get there by next summer, which simultaneously seems really close and also far away.

I’ve done it mainly by diet. I hurt my ankle earlier in the year which really limited what I can do. For a while I couldn’t walk for more than 5 minutes without pain so I’ve pretty much done no exercise for a lot of the time. I’m at the point now where I’ve been able to add walking back in but I still can’t do anything that people would probably consider as exercise!

I can’t believe how my life has changed. Recently I went pumpkin picking, which is amazing in itself because it involved walking in a muddy field and there's no way I would have been able to do that a year ago. But then I went on something called a barrel train - which is where you sit in a small plastic barrel and get dragged along by a tractor!!!! I fit in it easily, and had a great time. When I was at my heaviest I would never have been able to do something like that.

Well done! I'm 133lbs down and desperately trying to get to 140 before Christmas. It's amazing all the little things we can do now isn't it x

You are all inspirations! I need to get my head into gear. If I lost a pound a week it would be something but I lose 2 and put them both back on plus more at the weekend. Well done all of you.

catwithflowers · 03/11/2022 12:42

Sorry, I meant to ask, did you follow a particular way of eating eg low-carb or did you calorie count? Or something else 😀

Spidey66 · 03/11/2022 12:43

Impressive!

Well done, that's inspirational x

Partypoooooper · 03/11/2022 12:49

Wow that's incredible, well done!!

DuckWithOneWing · 03/11/2022 12:53

Thanks everyone!

@Musicaltheatremum when I started I really didn't think I could do it, but I decided to give it a try and see what happened. I just aimed to lose 1 stone at first but then when I lost that I kept going.

@Fullofpudding I really didn't feel like I wasn't doing things, but I definitely do more now. Yesterday I climbed on a table to change the time on a clock which I'm sure health and safety still wouldn't approve of but I didn't worry it wouldn't hold my weight!

@catwithflowers I've mainly followed calorie counting. I initially used MyFitnessPal, but switched to Lose It a couple of months ago. If I can't count calories for some reason I've been using Slimming World ideas - they're not actually Muller Lights and Mug Shots but promote vegetables and limit treats.

IwasToldThereWouldBeCake · 03/11/2022 12:55

100 lbs is about 7 stone I think....so WOW well done, that is so much weight, you must have been so strict with your diet. You must be feeling so much more energized. Any before and after pics?

I lost 50 lbs over the last 15 months....and my body looks so much better for it....starting to notice my face getting slim...don't need it to get any slimmer. It feels great, knowing that I can easily find something to wear that will look tidy. No need to think about bulges. It's great!!

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 03/11/2022 13:01

That's amazing! Well done.

I've lost about two stone over the last 18 months and have gone from obese to overweight and I feel so much better. Being able to pick clothes and know they'll fit feels amazing, I've got a new job and my confidence has gone through the roof.

I have stopped eating supper and breakfast and now just have lunch and tea, often I make a pot of soup and have that for lunch/tea a few days a week. Just doing it slowly really really works.
