And 62 kg

Is that an ok weight do people think?
According to BMI calcs it's borderline overweight but really struggling to get below it.

I feel ok, jeans slightly tighter than I'd like maybe

Ok in what way?

lifeinmidthirties · 23/10/2022 11:57

Not unhealthy

I’m a similar height and 10kg lighter. Not sure if that’s helpful or not.

lifeinmidthirties · 23/10/2022 11:58

No it is helpful thank you Smile

@TrianglePlayer
Do you mind me asking how much you exercise?

I'm similar height, similar weight and definitely overweight. Being post menopause, it's really hard to lose it though.

Probably about three or four times a week I’d do 30 mins cardio. Plus a slow dog walk after work every day.

Plantmoretrees86 · 23/10/2022 12:04

I'm the same height and weigh 63kg at the moment post pregnancy. Personally I feel overweight and sluggish though that probably isn't helped by the sleep deprivation and subsequent reliance on sugar (DD is only 4 months old). Would like to loose at least 3 kg in the next few months

Gensola · 23/10/2022 12:04

I’m 5 foot 2 and 58kg, I don’t look overweight but I don’t look skinny either - interestingly at 55kg which isn’t really that much less I do look much much slimmer. I am hoping to get back to 55kg and maintain there. I had put on a lot through 5 rounds of IVF and was 68kg which was very overweight.

Namechanged1000 · 23/10/2022 12:08

Same weight and height and I’m overweight. Not massively but I need to lose a few pounds and tone up.

Not unhealthy

It depends on where you're carrying the extra weight I suppose. Around the middle is said to be unhealthy but to be honest, you'd be better off asking a professional as MN will give you a massively different range of opinions.

WishIWasACavewoman · 23/10/2022 12:13

5'3", and just got down to 74kg. I was 78 which felt v bad. Now I'm def chubby, and although the BMI charts put me in obese category, you probably wouldn't think so to look at me. I'd love to be your weight OP, but have been 68kg since I was 18 up to menopause, so realistically i suspect I'll have to really fight to get below that.

uhtredbebbanburg · 23/10/2022 12:19

I’m 5’1” and 52 kg. I wish I was around 50kg. In my early 20s I was 47 kg but I had eating issues and was definitely too skinny. My biggest non-pregnancy weight was 54 kg and I think I looked and felt overweight. When you’re our height 1 or 2 kgs makes a difference but the good thing is you really notice that 1 or 2 kg when you lose it.

Paq · 23/10/2022 12:21

Same height and weight but could definitely do with losing 2kg minimum. I'm 49 if that helps.

Betahydroxybutyrate · 23/10/2022 12:26

Forget BMI, we are pretty much past it and I never use it with patients.

What is your hip to waist ratio? That’s a far better indicator or health.

Isittrueornot · 23/10/2022 12:32

I’m 5ft and weigh 50kg. I would say I’m slim (but I have a lot of fat on my bum, in a bad way!)

iloveeverykindofcat · 23/10/2022 12:33

Use a tape measure to estimate your body fat %. (Google will provide calculator). That's way more important than the crude measure of weight alone.

That's about my weight and height; I'm 64 and post menopause and have decided to live with it but wouldn't want to be any heavier. Post kids I was about 57kg and pre children about 54kg.

I’m 5ft 2 and currently 62kg.

In January I was 101kg - and had been for around 18 months, due to being seriously unwell/more or less bed bound/medications.

Most of my adult life, I’ve been around 50-55kg, during my three pregnancies the heaviest I ever got was 67kg.

So I was double what I usually am. I haven’t really done much to lose the weight, just didn’t need the medications any more, gradually got better and back to normal life of running around/barely sitting down etc.

I’m tentatively returning to the gym next month - I have a lot of flabby parts that I didn’t have even post my third pregnancy and want them to be gone.

Smilelesstalkmore · 23/10/2022 12:50

I'm 5ft2 and 70kg which is the heaviest I've ever been. Pre kids I was about 61kg and I have never been less than that as an adult.

Being short I feel like I carry it terribly, but people never believe me when I tell them how much i weigh? Maybe I have 'heavy bones' or something! Wink

PantyMcPantFace · 23/10/2022 12:57

5'3" and 60kg. BMI is fine. Weight bounces between 58 and 62KG. So I could lose another couple and would probably feel a bit better. It is all, pretty much, directly related to how many carbs I eat.

Carb free M-F term time....I lost 2kg a week. Weekends I eat/enjoy carbs..gain 2kg. And repeat.

Summer holidays I will go up to my highest. Takes 3-4 weeks of careful-ish eating to get back to normal.]

Am 50. Exercise 4-5 times a week.
