New thread

(better late than never; sorry all)

DH is away those 2 weekends as well, Littlefish (yours isn't going diving is he? DH is off to erm Bermuda... Bahamas... somewhere beginning with B ). But I won't be allowed to have any time off until after the end of March, as it's v busy at work. Also, as I mentioned, I'm a complete wuss about driving distances like that.

Easter holidays for us are 7-18 April (entirely disconnected from Easter).

Littlefish · 01/02/2008 18:58

Am at your DH going to Bermuda/Bahamas - not of the diving, but just the places! No, my dh is not in the same place as yours, but still away both weekends on a jolly!

Littlefish · 01/02/2008 18:59

Good news TigerFeet! Let's see if anyone else fancies it.

WigWamBam · 01/02/2008 19:07

Can't make it during the week at term-times because of work/picking dd up from school.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2008 11:32

Sorry, sorry, will be back in a bit.

Hope you all are doing well xx

JackieNo · 02/02/2008 17:30

Ooh - I didn't realise your new name was you, agalch. Welcome back.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2008 19:42

I am all those things and more, Jackie.

And still haven't done the weights because I haven't been able to get onto the Hotmail account all day ... blast.

Watch this space.

Lovely to see you again, agalch

Ok ladies - something to distract us from the cupboards and fridge, and something to try and help me re-gain my motivation!

Help me find the holiday of a lifetime. I've posted this in chat and long haul but thought you ladies might give it some thought too.

Dhand I are both 40 this year so instead of having a party, we've decided to go on a fantastic holiday with dd (3).

We'd been looking at France, Spain, Croatia etc. and then remembered that dh has squillions of airmiles.

When we checked, he's actually got enough airmiles for 2 and a half flights to:

Any where in America
Bahamas
Caribbean
St Lucia
Mauritius
South Africa

Once I'd picked my jaw up off the floor, I got really excited!

We went to Grenada (Carribean) some years ago, before we had dd and spent all our money on her

So, who can help us find an amazing 2 week holiday cottage/villa/hotel/- we're happy to consider all options, but think that self catering may be the way forward so we have a sitting room to sit in while dd (3) is asleep.

We need to be very close to a beach (maybe even a beach front villa

We want to go last week of August/1st week of September.

Our budget is £1,500ish for the accommodation.

Come on sleuths - do your work!

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 09:49

Wow. Sounds fab. I'm a very bad flyer, so although I'd love to go to all those places, I can't atm. Am working on it though - I've just started having hypnotherapy to try to quell the panic. Only had one session so far, and it's very relaxing, but interesting too.

TigerFeet · 03/02/2008 10:03

Ooooh holiday porn

Will get back to you...

Littlefish · 03/02/2008 10:11

That's really interesting Jackie - let me know how it goes. So far I've been ok with long haul, but have only flown with dd once (and that was a short trip to France). I definitely felt more uneasy about flying with her - the added responsibility I suppose.

LOL at "holiday porn" Tigerfeet. Yes, I suppose it is really - an absolute fantasy!

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 10:27

It's something that started in my mid-20s, Littlefish - way before even contemplating DCs. I'm not even sure why - I don't think I've ever had a particularly scary situation, or anything. As a result, I've never done long haul, and rarely shorter flights, as I just freak out and find it really stressful. But I'll get over it.

Littlefish · 03/02/2008 11:03

Well done for addressing it JackieNo - just think of all those gorgeous places you'll be able to go to with your dh and his diving! Have you ever been diving?

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 13:04

That's the impetus - DH said 'I'd love to take you on some fabulous holidays', and how could I refuse? I have to say that diving doesn't appeal to me - partly I suspect because of wearing glasses/contact lenses. Just makes it more complicated. I also think that DH likes it because it's complicated - working out how deep you can go, etc, etc. It's the geek in him. Plus it enables him to go out and buy a whole load more camera equipment - just what we need.

TigerFeet · 03/02/2008 19:50

Your money goes a long way in Mauritius Littelfish

For some reason Mauritius appeals from that list.

JackieNo - sitting by the pool whilst dh dives sounds like a fabulous holiday to me . Keep us posted on the hypnotherapy. MIL won't fly and I think it's a real shame - FIL's dsis lives in Australia and he would like to visit her, but he won't go without MIL and she won't fly

{{http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/Mauritius/holiday-villa-Mauritius-North-Coast/p52358.htm This looks fab too]]

TigerFeet · 03/02/2008 19:50

whoops

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 20:09

They look gorgeous TigerFeet. I'll let you know how the hypnotherapy goes.

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 20:16

In case you don't spot it first, someone's looking for you.

JackieNo · 03/02/2008 20:17

Oh bother - that link was aimed at TigerFeet, but it would have helped if I'd said, wouldn't it - sorry!

Littlefish · 03/02/2008 22:13

Oooh lovely Tigerfeet. That place looks gorgeous. I thought that the accommodation in Mauritius looked really reasonable too.

I'll keep you posted!

WigWamBam · 04/02/2008 16:19

Right, Mrs Useless finally gets her arse into gear and posts the weights ... sorry girls. Won't start a new thread this week; not worth it for only a couple of days.

Agalch: -2.5lb (total 2.5)
JackieNo: stayed the same (total +2.5)
TigerFeet: -3.5lb (total 8.5lb)

I was a stupido and forgot to weigh myself, and Moosh is starting again this week.

So doughnuts for agalch and Tiger (although I'm sure they'll let the rest of us sneak a few crumbs).

Normal service may will be resumed this week ... sorry girls

JackieNo · 04/02/2008 16:47

Well done TigerFeet and Agalch .

Just went for a smear test, and she took one look and said 'Sorry, can't do the smear - you've got a polyp on your cervix'. Which now apparently means a doctor's appointment, where they might (but probably won't) do the smear, and probably a visit to the hospital for them to whip it off. Could really do without that atm.

WigWamBam · 04/02/2008 17:01

Oh, Jackie - sorry to hear that. When will you see the doctor - have you made the appointment yet?
