And they say that children grow up too fast - it was just as bad 25 years ago

JackieNo · 07/02/2008 15:53

I think I knew what was happening, though I'm not quite sure how I knew. I do remember that my parents bought me 'Where did I come from?' (by Peter Mayle) at some point, though I'm not sure it covered periods. I just wasn't quite sure what to do about it. I remember going downstairs, erm, rather obviously having started overnight, but not really anything else about it. I can remember the rather unpleasant second hand black and white winceyette nightie I was wearing too (how stylish). So I'm guessing I was somewhere around 11/12-ish.

Littlefish · 07/02/2008 17:44

I didn't start until I was nearly 15! My mum had been amazing, and talked to me about it very gently since I was about 8. In fact, I was really looking forward to starting - even more so as I was the last one in my whole class to start I think.

The only downside was that I started while I was on an exchange visit to France, and the family didn't believe it was my first time. They thought I'd just got the French translation wrong

JackieNo · 07/02/2008 17:50

That sounds really stressful, Littlefish. Also, those aren't the sort of words you tend to learn in school, are they, so you're at a bit of a loss anyway.

And I officially have exercise envy. Where DH works they've just opened a gym, and he's taken to going most days, and yesterday he also went to a beginner's yoga class ( - wouldn't have said it was his thing at all, but am v pleased he's trying it). Now don't get me wrong - I'm all for him getting fitter. It's great. But what I envy is the fact that he can just ignore what might be happening at home and drift home an hour later than he otherwise would have done, because he's been to the gym or yoga, without worrying about it. I have to snatch bits of time here and there wherever I can, and there's no way I can ever commit to doing a regular class, as DH would never be around at the right times for me to go. It's a stretch to have him home by 7.30 once every six weeks so I can go to book club. AIBU to be jealous, do you think?

TigerFeet · 08/02/2008 10:41

at gym at work

at jackie's dh using it after work. Can't he fit it in before work or at lunchtime?

No-one else weighing in????

JackieNo · 08/02/2008 15:43

Well he might be fitting it in at lunchtime, but he'll then work later to make up for it, so it comes to the same thing.

Oh yes - I weighed. I've put on 1.5lb. Ah well. That'll be mostly the result of the v large bar of chocolate I ate when I was at home last Friday with DS (and on the day after, and the day after that - same bar, not more, but it was one of the really mahoosive ones).

WigWamBam · 09/02/2008 16:48

My scales are up the swannee so I can't weigh this week. Well, I could ... but as they reckon I'm only () 17st 10lb it would be a bit misleading ...

I reckon I've probably put on again though.

Agalch: stayed the same (total 2.5lb)
JackieNo: +1.5 (total +4)
Littlefish: +2 (total 12.5)

I think we need a kick up the bum ... anyone got a good pair of size 8s to hand?
