Fresh thread for a fresh start! It's me, Hard Baked Owl if anyone remembers me from our previous threads

Anyway, I've been off in the wilderness for the past month. I don't know why I have done this but I want to stop the rot before I put the weight back on

I've lost 2 stone since April and by some miracle, I'm still at a 2 stone loss. Despite eating magnums and crisps daily

So tomorrow I'm back to it. Back in the circle where I felt good and I'd like to lose one stone between now and the 19th November

This feels ambitious. Yet it's something to aim for isn't it?

Anyone fancy joining in or hopping back in the circle with me?

Morning all

That looked like a decent eating day @Megasaur5keeper

I'm just starting my day with cocoa bircher with some banana and tangerine.

Planning my day of eating right now

Few more pics!

After breakfast, I've gone for a wholemeal roll for lunch filled with 1/3 small avocado, tomato and hummus. Snacks have been 2 tablespoons of nuts + fruit and a small handful of pumpkin seeds

I'm having quinoa for dinner with tomato, mushroom sausage and a little feta cheese and that'll be me done ✅

The pumpkin seeds go well with the lovely nails! I think I need to get on a manicure schedule- I loved a pretty nail.

Weekend has been OK eating wise for me-.today was a pretty standard porridge with rhubarb and nuts /orange and yogurt/ chicken veg and bean soup and ratatouille and cod for dinner. Missing a snack but had a spoonful of macaroni cheese to check temperature for child

ElvenDreamer · 04/10/2022 16:40

Hi all, well I've been a bit hit and miss the last few days, nothing terrible though. Actually put in some food prep time today so there are a couple of days worth orange, mackerel and watercress salad boxed up and ready. Today it's been yogurt with seeds, bran and berries; oatcakes and banana (now out of oatcakes so a bit of a crisis there!) and a chicken and vegetable traybake thing currently in oven for this eve.

Megasaur5keeper · 04/10/2022 18:41

I love that salad- I use rocket instead of watercess but it is a top fave here.

Today I've missed snacks altogether somehow. Though I have probably had about a snacks worth of risotto checking for readiness

B- fluffy pancakes with plum and cherry compote
L- veg frittatta and salad
T- Ruby chicken and quinoa

I'm slightly off step target but hey ho. Might manage extra a bit later.

Hello
I should prob Google this But what is Louise Parker please?

Alicay · 05/10/2022 20:19

Which Greek yoghurts are you all eating? Is it supposed to be low fat? (Hoping you’ll say no!)

ChocChipOwl · 05/10/2022 20:41

@Alicay low fat Greek not required! I eat total full fat Greek as I think it's about the nicest.

ChocChipOwl · 05/10/2022 20:43

@fleurdelee possibly a bit much to explain without you having a little bit of knowledge! Have a google of them louise parker method.

But put very simply, it's 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, sensible exercise and trying to incorporate good habits around sleep

Today has been porridge with summer Berry compote and almond butter,
Yogurt and an orange
Chicken veg and bean soup
Ruby red tartine
And I'll have ratatouille with an egg and feta for dinner eventually.

Been skating tonight and very stressed about work so I doubt that sleep will be super.

Love to rejoin! Owl is such a great motivator.
I have been using quite a few of the LP recipes, as they are so good.
For those confused about the method, she does actually explain portion size, especially with snacks & nuts. Her recipes are very high fibre, which is excellent at keeping you full, so you should be able to go longer between meals and not be ravenous when you do eat. Portion size is all, the quantity of fats in each serving is limited. The recipe sizes are large, say for 4, but typically only 1-2 tablespoons of oil. So per serving, not a lot.
Since the last thread I had a very carby holiday in Italy, but since my return it’s been protein & veg. I hope to now, with the group’s support, be a bit more structured. Let’s begin!

SilverLiningPlaybook · 07/10/2022 17:04

Please post recipes that have worked.
thanks.

ChocChipOwl · 07/10/2022 19:42

Ooh hello @Moanranger - I'm just getting myself slowly back into it and hoping to back back fully focussed in the next few days. How have you been?

@SilverLiningPlaybook have you got any of the books?

OP posts:
SilverLiningPlaybook · 07/10/2022 20:14

I’ve got lean for life and have ordered another recommended upthread. I’m not finding Lean for Life very helpful or clear.

ChocChipOwl · 07/10/2022 21:13

@SilverLiningPlaybook what don't you find clear about it? The actual method?

OP posts:
SilverLiningPlaybook · 07/10/2022 21:57

It’s just very vague. I need a lot more detail . What are the actual rules? Just eating three meals a day and two snacks is not going to lead to weight loss for most people. I think the emphasis is on eating fewer carbs but if I am going to decide what to eat for a day I need much more specific guidance. What to avoid? What quantities? What should I be eating?

ChocChipOwl · 07/10/2022 23:06

It doesn't sound like it's going to be for you @SilverLiningPlaybook - and I'm not sure I can answer your questions tbh! Maybe something more structured would suit?

I, along with most others on these threads have found it transformative and easy to follow but it does require reading up and actually giving it a go Smile

Yes, waiting for another of the books to arrive and I will read that through .

Megasaur5keeper · 08/10/2022 09:09

@ChocChipOwl
My team and I got through the week from hell with illness and so on and it's the weekend now so it's all good, also got a very long sleep. So I'm feeling much calmer. I'm definitely noting that feelings of stress = more out of control around food, which is not news really !
Weighed in this morning at 9st 8lb, and planning a nice calm day .

I had a huge message about recipes for @SilverLiningPlaybook but then the bus I was on broke down and it got lost.

So here is yesterday's eats with quantities!
B- oatbran porridge with 30g oatbran made with water (I don't like milk) a fig, about 10 brambles, teaspoon of almond butter and a few Hazelnuts.

S- 100mls of low fat Greek yogurt, with cinnamon and vanilla paste stirred on and an orange

L- homemade chicken and veg soup with cannellini beans (I also nicked a small handful of chips from a colleague)
S- apple and 25g of cheddar cheese
D- pepper filled with bolognese and kale with fennel seeds on it as a side. Also a tiny amount of parmesan and some pasta shapes to check on cooked ness.

Didn't exercise, did walk a good amount.
I've lost close to 2st 7lbs since May sticking to the plan- there aren't daily lists of what to do or daily food plans; as @ChocChipOwl says, it takes a bit of reading and planning, 6 week plan is pretty helpful in that regard I think as it gives a weekly list of "things to do", may of which are on the fluffy side, but includes step counts and 3 workout plans to do a fortnight each if that's your thing.

ElvenDreamer · 12/10/2022 10:54

Checking in after a bit of a disaster of a couple of weeks, I just cannot sustain the prep time atm. Better start to today though, 3 egg omelette with a ton of veggies, really want to up my veg intake a lot. Need to get through next 2 weeks then life should be a bit calmer which will help.
Those in their final round of transform, have you thought forward about how lifestyle phase will look for you? Than was the mistake I made before, not working out how it looked after transform...

Megasaur5keeper · 12/10/2022 21:12

Ah @ElvenDreamer , hope you are OK! You will get there and holding it together is the main thing sometimes. Only thing.
I'm periody and exhausted; today was
Bircher with strawberry, fig and hazelnuts
Almond butter on slices of cored apple
Ham and tomato toastie
Some slices of white baguette with butter (periody)
Curry and cauliflower rice.

No exercise, lots of sleep and I might now eat something else. I will have hit 10000 steps by bedtime- possibly have already.

Lifestyle is definitely going to include either a pasta or risotto tea more often - chicken and veg risotto is one thing
My daughter reliably eats - I've got a rough idea of what I can get away with from weeks where I didn't lose much.

I've been pretty bored of it this week and think I need a plan to prevent a "fuck it I want all the cheese" sabotage.

Had an icecream at a concert on Monday and it was OK. I really prefer savoury but the bell was going and I didn't think munching crisps was a way to be popular...

So I suppose I will reintroduce somethings along the occasional packet of crisps/stack of oatcakes and cheese snack?
I do need a plan too. What are you thinking @ElvenDreamer ?
