Fresh thread for a fresh start! It's me, Hard Baked Owl if anyone remembers me from our previous threads

Anyway, I've been off in the wilderness for the past month. I don't know why I have done this but I want to stop the rot before I put the weight back on

I've lost 2 stone since April and by some miracle, I'm still at a 2 stone loss. Despite eating magnums and crisps daily

So tomorrow I'm back to it. Back in the circle where I felt good and I'd like to lose one stone between now and the 19th November

This feels ambitious. Yet it's something to aim for isn't it?

Anyone fancy joining in or hopping back in the circle with me?

Back tomorrow

@ChocChipOwl which circle are you in? Sounds good :)

Compelled · 21/01/2023 20:28

Right-following @ChocChipOwl honesty, I’m putting it out there. Panini (chicken and avo) and Chinese takeaway (split the meal). And, here’s the thing, it wasn’t really worth it. I don’t feel light and nourished and I prefer it when I do.
I’m doing a big walk tomorrow and then Monday plan, plan, plan. Light and nourished will be my mantra as I feel a bit bloated and yuk. Bloated and yuk is a rubbish mantra.

Megasaur5keeper · 22/01/2023 12:36

@Compelled sometimes knowing what is not worth it is useful as well... I've had many times of doing that sort of thing!

There's a yoga YouTube called bird who has been the bloating saviour for me this week- got everything moving again in a nurturing way.

I've done a big lot of cooking for the week and for freezing and am incorporating Burns night haggis in - keeping mine "delicate" of course!

I'm trying to get my lot out for a walk while it is light today- 4yo has been brutal as she's not been out much.

Other than that, exercise today was bodypump and a dance style class, porridge with apple, brambles and almond butter for b and yogurt and an orange for snack.

Compelled · 22/01/2023 17:53

Right, checking out that Yoga @Megasaur5keeper. Thank you for that.
Sending good vibes to all and I’m so onto food planning tomorrow. Onwards and upwards…done an 8 mile walk today- whoop whoop. Food ok(ish) but one bit of the LPM (the walk) is better than none!

ChocChipOwl · 27/01/2023 18:09

I know I keep disappearing off but you haven't failed until you've given up right? Grin

I've had two good days so I'm optimistic I'm back in the game now. Yesterday the good day was accidental as I had some sickness thing so puking up a few times definitely helped matters! Not advisable though

I also think peri menopause is kicking my arse right now - mainly in the sleep department. I'm 51 so very firmly in it surely?!

Anyway - food times

Yesterday ...

Porridge, fruit, seeds, coconut yogurt

2 slices sourdough with hummus, salad, goats cheese, salad and a little avocado

Mixed nuts + an orange

Three slices of feta cheese

Most of the above sadly came back up

Today ...

Kefir yogurt, banana, plums and seeds / flax

2 x sourdough slices with feta and tomatoes

Cherries + mixed nuts

Flax crackers and cashew nut butter

Black bean enchilada made with red onion, sweetcorn, black beans, avocado, red pepper and tomato

So I feel like I'm getting back into an on plan groove now. I'll plan my eating for tomorrow and see how we go

Baby steps!

@Compelled yes I agree. I feel so shit when I eat utter rubbish.

I mean, I discovered these cheese toasties last weekend at a lovely little cafe. And they do a takeaway as well. So I had three of them in 6 days. Three!!! I'm h and with a side of carrot cake each time

……<tip toes back into the thread>……

I have been spectacularly out of the circle for quite some time. Example of one evening: a half baguette made into cheese on toast, with wine, followed by crumble and custard and then a bag of crisps, more wine and an entire Terry’s chocolate orange. Veil drawn over it and moving on…

I wasn’t hungry until mid afternoon today so I just had an apple and cheese as a snack, then a vegetable and kidney bean chilli with broccoli and some cheddar grated onto it for tea. Lots of water, not quite 10K steps and I did some yoga tonight.

tomorrow’s food is all planned and partially prepped too ⭐️

Query about breakfast: I am not a breakfast person; never have been. And I can happily go until 2pm without eating at all and just drinking black coffee and water but I also have terrible energy slumps (one of the main reasons I’m interested in this is stable energy) and I suspect my eating habits have a lot to do with this. My query is does anyone else struggle with breakfast, but still make this work? Has anyone who’s had success with the method found that their energy is actually more stable?

Megasaur5keeper · 01/02/2023 10:53

Hello. Been having horrible phone issues and a nice weekend away.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I don't always feel like food in the morning and definitely didn't back in 2017 when I gave this a first go.

Spacing food out does seem to help me with energy levels.

ElvenDreamer · 01/02/2023 12:21

...nonchalantly slides back into thread, pretending there hasn't been 2 weeks of absolute car crash food related chaos....

I finally gave myself the massive boot I needed, and honestly I've been feeling so tired, grumpy, unhealthy. Back in the circle with a vengeance.

Eased myself in Sunday with my usual run and largely ok food, slightly large portions, a couple of things not in circle, but no binge eating.

Monday and Tuesday and today so far within circle, usual breakfasts of egg or bircher, lunches of crab salad from 6 week book and roquefort pear and chicory salad from the cook book. Dinners of Crispy tamarind sprouts (green roasting tin), vietnamese style pork 'noodle' salad (6 week book) and tonight will be baked fish in tomatoey sauce and green veg. Will shove in some potatoes for the family.

Trying to give myself me time to do some crochet or similar so that self care doesn't become shovelling in crap food whilst hidden.

Good walk Monday, less exercise yesterday, pilates class today.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I haven't had a particular problem with not wanting to eat breakfast but I would say when I had a period of a couple of months or more full LP method I definitely had less issues with energy crashes.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 01/02/2023 20:42

Food times today:

B. Full fat yogurt, chia seeds and peaches
S. small handful of mixed nuts and raisins (think the dried fruit might not be on plan but 🤷🏼‍♀️)
L. Mixed vegetable frittata, mixed salad leaves, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and a olive oil balsamic vinegar dressing
S. Apple and cheese
T. Mixed bean and veg chilli with cauliflower and a few spoonfuls of brown rice (as I hadn’t had any other carbs today!)

I managed to swerve the pudding the kids were having 💪

12.5K steps
brain nap
going to bed shortly.

Day 1 was a win I think!

Thanks for the thoughts on breakfast and energy, I managed today so I’ll just keep trying.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 02/02/2023 20:55

Rent: 45 min exercise dvd this morning

Food times:
B 2 scrambled eggs and some pepper and mushrooms on one slice of toast
No mid morning snack as not hungry and too busy!
L chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, massive bowl of salad leaves and dressing
S nuts, raisins and 2 oatcakes with almond butter
T loads of different veg pan fried then laid in a roasting dish, covered in slices of mozzarella and grilled until crispy melty and delicious 😋 with 2 Quorn fillets.

45 min walk with the dog

About to go to bed ⭐

Compelled · 03/02/2023 07:51

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt that’s good. I’m pretty ill. Very bad cold. If I was a man, it would be flu. I’m going to be careful today but I think Lemsip, lemon and honey are on the menu.

Megasaur5keeper · 03/02/2023 08:34

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt that sounds great.
I'm very unmotivated to exercise this week. Well, not exercise so much as getting up at 615 to do it. Next week will be better but I need some accountability as self motivation is not working.

Just been very tired!
Food has been ok - had 3 mini eggs yesterday in addition to
B- tex MEX beans
S- aubergine dip, 2 oatcakes and a satsuma
L- carrot soup and a slice of delicious bread
S- almond butter and apple
S- veg and paneer curry from 6wp and a pitta.
Small amount of cheese and charcoal biscuits.
9000 steps and 45 mins rollerskating.

ChocChipOwl · 03/02/2023 13:18

Back again! Could this be the attempt that sticks?!

Breakfast was porridge with chia seeds, fresh cherries, chopped pear and some Greek yogurt

I made a huge salad for lunch and will eat the remaining half tomorrow

Tomatoes
Rocket
Chick peas
Feta
Peppers
Quinoa pouch
Red onion
Dressing of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and mustard powder

Was absolutely delicious

In fairness @ChocChipOwl you did stick for a long time, and achieved loads. It's a long haul lifestyle wise.
Food all looks good 😋

ElvenDreamer · 05/02/2023 08:30

Well I've made it to Sunday and a week with only minor steps outside the circle so very pleased with that. Feeling much better in myself and this week's run was really good, the usual 4k but I felt more energetic for it.

Made a cheese cake this week with a base of nuts and a topping made of bananas, ricotta, eggs, lime juice and a little vanilla paste. It was from a 'super healthy' recipe book and was really good! All ingredients on method, good discovery I felt.

Compelled · 05/02/2023 11:50

Lots of positive updates, I’m keeping a little quiet but working on a return! The recipe sounds good @ElvenDreamer , what’s the name of the book-if you don’t mind sharing. Fab Sunday all x

Megasaur5keeper · 11/02/2023 20:20

Well, I'm back up to normal activity levels but also back up to to 9st8. This is irritating but I suppose not a massive surprise as I've had a few meals out that were far removed from the method since January started.
There is also a lot of crap lying about the office like a constant stream of mini eggs.

Which I do not like much but seem to eat anyway,...

Tomorrow another day, I've been ok ish this week (some chips yesterday and a piece of extra delicious toast today).
How's everyone else?

ElvenDreamer · 12/02/2023 08:58

Hi @Megasaur5keeper , hi all, limping along here. A great week last week, fine Monday and Tuesday of this then some catastrophic self sabotage, mainly of the gin, cheese and chocolate variety for a few days. Picking myself up again and trying to banish stinking thinking really just need to push myself now as I probably only need one decent 6 week round to get to where I need to be, I'm just not managing to keep at it.

@Compelled the book I got the banana cheese cake recipe from was BBC good food eat well Low-Sugar Recipes. A fair few of the recipes are a bit annoying as they just swap sugar for other sweeteners (and not stevia!) but that particular one the slight sweetness just came from the bananas.

Compelled · 12/02/2023 09:02

Thanks @ElvenDreamer , I’m a bit quiet as I’ve started HRT and trying to figure that out. I’m doing ok the last three days sort of on plan with minimal planning. Today is a plan day to sort next week. Has anyone looked at the Amelia Freer (have I got that right?) recipes? Some of them seem on plan and a nice addition.

PickledOwl · 19/02/2023 15:27

@Compelled I've started HRT too and also trying to figure it all out.

It's me btw. Chocchip owl.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 23/02/2023 09:14

Morning all. Hoping I can join in again. @PickledOwl you inspired me with the first thread and I managed for a while and then petered out. But I felt really well and positive when I did it and now I don't.

So original motivation was to feel fitter, healthier and happier. Then I got on the scales this morning and...ouch! Goal is to complete the 6 week transformation not to weigh a certain amount at the end. But not gonna lie - would be thrilled if I dropped a dress size as an additional bonus.
