New (school) year resolutions

I've gradually been gaining weight over the last couple of years and am now 2 stone overweight. The school holidays have been horrific foodwise. A lot of ice creams, hotdogs or pasties at zoos and theme parks, fish and chips by the beach. It's been a lot and I need to sort myself out.

I'm going to make a big effort to improve my diet, massively decrease the amount of junk and get more active.

Anyone else starting afresh?

1299 calories today, drank lots of water and peppermint tea (I’ve had a banging headache all day) and remembered my multivitamin! WFH so rubbish steps but I’ve finished work for the week now so will try to get out for some fresh air tomorrow

Does anyone else get quite grumpy when hungry? I'm biting my tongue a lot to stop from snapping at everyone.
I'm in the office tomorrow so will at least get a decent walk.

Yes I get very “hangry” (also came on my period today so that doesn’t help either!)

1366 calories. I feel dreadful if I don't eat. Really out of sorts. I also get out of sorts if I eat too much. My period is imminent and my weight is up very slightly as a result. I baked a sticky ginger cake today and resisted eating anything g except the sticky bit left on the knife I used to cut the dc a slice. My willpower is amazing at the moment and I'm annoyed it's taken so long to find it. I've put an overnight face mask on and am resisting tv and a book and getting an early night. Only walked 8 miles today but I've won the fitbit bingo and am several thousand steps ahead in the workweek hustle. I get very competitive when it comes to fitbit 😁

I'm on my period too. Must be something in the air 😂
I'm in the office today and the challenge is not to eat my packed lunch by 10am.

Oh I'm vile today. I had an early tea with the kids as DH was out, and I slept quite badly, and I've woken up in an awful mood, one of those 'pizza for breakfast will fix this' moods. But I haven't got any pizza, luckily.

What can I have for breakfast that tastes good buy isn't high in calories? Feeling a bit despondent, stood on the scales and they've not shifted, and I know it's only day 4, and I KNOW I shouldn't stand on the scales. But man alive, I could do with something to keep me motivated!

@ShakeItOff40 do you have a fitbit or similar? I find the steps and miles increasing motivating. I use my fitness pal too and seeing my calories stay within my limits is also motivating.

If you like eggs I always find them a satisfying breakfast. Poached eggs seem like a treat but are low in calories.

Porridge with a banana chopped up on top and syrup. The healthiness of the oats and banana negates the syrup.

@FaultybutFabulous I have an apple watch, and I 99% exceed my target (thanks to the dog!) which does cheer me up, I just wish I could feel the same about aiming for calories!

Lovely breakfast suggestions, I do like eggs but tend to have them for lunch, but maybe I need to shake it up a bit, and have something different for lunch!

Do you guys stick to your plan every day, or have a day or two off? x

How was everyone’s day?
I’ve finished on 1221 calories, not enough water but went for a short walk with my toddler (short because he threw a tantrum and refused to go in the buggy!). So far this week I haven’t actually missed the evening snacks!

Not a good day diet wise! My neighbour took me out to lunch to say thanks... I didn't go crazy but still... not looking forward to stepping on the scales tomorrow.

Finished on 1046 today. Not enough water here either but I've clocked up over 9 miles today even though we got the bus home from school. I need to do better for evening meals. I'm struggling to decide what to have and end up eating odd things of nothing much. Must make some soup this weekend.

I should have weighed today but drank a cup of coffee before remembering and there was no chance I was doing it after that 😂
It's been going OK. I've been mostly on track. I do tend to take the weekend off and I need to be more in control because it does set me back a lot. It's slow going and I feel like if I don't start seeing some progress I'm going to lose motivation.

I think it helped that I had a tiny tea last night as was still full from lunch, but hey I'm taking it. Out for lunch again (almost never out then 2 in a row!) going for all day breakfast without toast 😋

Motivation is really hard esp when it's so slow, keep posting here!

Today I was asked if I'd lost weight 😃 My trousers do feel looser. I went for an impromptu lunch at the pub today with my usually estranged eldest Dd. We shared pizza and chips and I don't normally eat more than oatcakes at lunch so it's thrown me.

Finished today on 1258 calories (that included crisps and chocolate so not the best really!), didn’t drink anywhere near enough water, forgot my multivitamin and definitely didn’t get my steps in! Tomorrow is another day!

How has everyone’s weekend been? I’ve not counted calories over the weekend but have been sensible, definitely not drank anywhere near enough water! Weighed in at 10st13lbs this morning so that’s a few lbs down in a week, really pleased with that!
