I've gradually been gaining weight over the last couple of years and am now 2 stone overweight. The school holidays have been horrific foodwise. A lot of ice creams, hotdogs or pasties at zoos and theme parks, fish and chips by the beach. It's been a lot and I need to sort myself out.

I'm going to make a big effort to improve my diet, massively decrease the amount of junk and get more active.

Anyone else starting afresh?

@goingslightlyinsane booze is my problem too. And I drank last night... probably wiped out the last 1lb lost 🙄

colouringindoors · 09/09/2022 11:09

@oysterbabe I started at 12 st. Am now 11 st 11. But a short-arse.

According to the bmi calculator I should be 9 st 9 or less, but that's never going to happen. My first goal is 11st. I'm a snug size 14 jeans and really want to get down to a 12 eventually.

LBB2020 · 09/09/2022 17:41

Can I join you? My DS1 properly starts school on Monday (half days this week), we got really out of routine over the summer and I ate pretty terribly! I’m a stone heavier than I was this time last year (last summer I had just got down to my pre pregnancy weight a year after having DS2).
This week I’ve been trying to cut out all the chocolate, biscuits, crisps etc and not binge in the evenings. It’s gone pretty well so far and I’ve been drinking more water (but still not enough). Next week I’m going to try to start adding some exercise back into my routine as I’m feeling really sluggish and unfit. Will weigh in on Monday

FaultybutFabulous · 09/09/2022 17:56

My BMI is 26.4. If I lose a stone it will be 23.4 and I'd feel and look much better. I took am a short arse.

Oysterbabe · 10/09/2022 07:41

Bit of a wobble last night 😐
Couple of glasses of Prosecco and some pretzels. I guess on a normal Friday I would have been grazing on crap all day so it's still an improvement?!

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 10/09/2022 09:19

I had a packet of crisps last night after the children went to bed. Like you say @Oysterbabe it was Friday and I would usually have made my way through a sharing bag of kettle crisps and a sharing bag of chocolates 😳so one small bag of crisps was definitely an improvement!

FaultybutFabulous · 10/09/2022 09:29

Wait, those are sharing bags?? 🤣 I like lentil chips and will happily eat a big bag in one sitting while watching tv. The same goes for a big bag of Maltesers or revels. I go through phases with chocolate and either eat loads every day or rarely. I've had 2 kitkats this week. I could eat several of those at once normally.

That's a definite improvement on your normal Friday nights. Small victories are still victories! Deprivation is miserable which is why I'm aiming for sustained change with a healthier lifestyle. I happily exist on junk otherwise.

colouringindoors · 10/09/2022 10:37

Well done on reducing the snacking!

I managed not to drink last night which saved me about 500 cal plus the snacks I have when the wine kills my willpower. (2 packs crisps/half a sharing bag etc)

Got back to the bmi calculator last night.

I was 12 stone, bmi 30.9 Obese 😳
Today 11 st 10, bmi 30.1 Obese, but only just.

I've been feeling overwhelmed this week with the prospect of having to loose 2 stone (my ultimate target is 10st which is still 4lb over the healthy weight upper limit but I can live with that).

So I've decided to aim for 11 stone and pause there for a bit. Maintaining 11st is not something I've achieved in a while either.

11stone, bmi 28.3, overweight.

Next target probably 10 and a half stone, bmi 27 (just in lower half of overweight band). This feels more achievable so 🤞🤞🤞

Oysterbabe · 10/09/2022 12:47

We're very similar in our weights and goals colouringindoors

I bought these little pizza bases in Home Bargains and they were great for 216 calories. I made a really tasty pizza for lunch, with ham, cheese and capers, for about 350 calories.

I’m not really much of a drinker (plus am still breastfeeding my toddler) but chocolate I could eat and eat and not feel sick! It had got to the stage where I was eating a share bag of chocolate buttons or malteasers every night which is ridiculous!
I don’t want to give up all the things I enjoy as that is just miserable but I definitely need to cut down! I also WFH now so am spending a lot of time sat down which doesn’t help, going to try to start c25k again this week coming

colouringindoors · 10/09/2022 21:28

Well I had Prosecco and now I want to eat ALL the food.

LBB2020 · 10/09/2022 22:25

Cheers to the weekend @colouringindoors!

FaultybutFabulous · 10/09/2022 22:49

@colouringindoors god, yes, alcohol makes me crave carbs. Chips especially. I think I last had alcohol at Christmas. It just never occurs to me to drink. Well, sometimes around 8.45am as I'm dropping off ds at school and we are running late and I'm stressed about various things I sometimes think I could do with a beer but the thought is fleeting. Then 7pm comes around and I'm too tired to do anything except faff on here and read. I bought a box of beer last year, drank one bottle, and the rest are in the garage going out of date at the end of this month. I think being the only adult in the house affects my drinking. When I had a FWB we drank ourselves horny and had a great time 😁 now it's just me and my book or mumsnet, neither of which make me hungry😁

My stomach is very musical tonight. I've not eaten much today, about 1000 calories, and I don't feel very hungry but my stomach is gurgling away.

I am going to do some baking tomorrow. Some kind of fruity ricotta muffins perhaps and an apple crumble and an apple and damson crumble. Not sure of the calories in those but to me crumble is one of the best things about autumn.

colouringindoors · 12/09/2022 09:23

Back on the wagon. I'm down 4lb, 10 to go to first target...

Good luck everyone!

LBB2020 · 12/09/2022 11:29

Well done @colouringindoors
I weighed this morning (first time in a while!), 11st2lb and I’d like to get down to 10st by Christmas really

ShakeItOff40 · 12/09/2022 13:15

Can I join in? Massive lifestyle change for the kids and me. Nearly 15 years of running about, and all of a sudden I have no school runs. My work has settled down, and I feel like now might be the time to look after myself, because I looked in the mirror, and as somebody who works out regularly, I realised how frumpy, old and invisible I was.

I am 5ft 1 and want to lose a stone, which doesn't sound much, but it seems hard to shift. Mainly because I comfort eat and drink.

I had a PT at the beginning of the year - who sadly changed things which meant we had to part ways - he'd always tried to get me to do macros, but I wasn't in the right frame of mind, I just wanted to work out. I hunted out his old email and am considering trying.

Today I'm just seeing how possible it is without making myself feel resentful!

FaultybutFabulous · 12/09/2022 14:20

I can't believe I've lost 3kg in the past week. I kept thinking it can't be real. I did walk nearly 60 miles last week though.
I've been looking on vinted for some new additions to my wardrobe. I'd love to wear dresses but I'd end up with them tucked in my tights no doubt.

Oysterbabe · 12/09/2022 16:56

Wow. What an amazing loss, well done!

Off the rails a bit over the weekend but not horrific and back on track today. I made a bacon, spinach and lentil soup for lunch and it was great.

LBB2020 · 12/09/2022 22:04

I logged my calories today, finished on 1469 so not too bad! I hardly moved today though as was WFH and the school run takes literally 3 mins each way! Didn’t drink enough water either so need to work on drinking more and also taking a daily multivitamin

ShakeItOff40 · 13/09/2022 10:13

@FaultybutFabulous that is AMAZING! Well done!

I did well yesterday, first time I've not had a 'drink' in months, slept awfully though, but I knew I would, I rely on it to nod off, not healthy, but one of those things.

Now just falling out with MFP which is just not telling me what I want it to!

LBB2020 · 13/09/2022 22:38

Similar day for me today, have finished the day on 1486 calories. WFH again so haven’t got in many steps but drank more water today and took a multivitamin. How has everyone else’s day been?

FaultybutFabulous · 13/09/2022 23:12

I've ended the day on 1800 calories consumed, 13.3 miles walked, over 3000 calories burnt and 149 floors climbed! I'm treating myself to a tv show in bed as a reward. I should sleep well t

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/09/2022 23:14

Can I join? I could do with losing at least 2 stone. Been to festivals and on holiday. The gym has prevented it getting worse but I can't just do that. I need to sort my diet.

Oysterbabe · 13/09/2022 23:46

1300 calories today. Not many steps as WFH. I'm still just undoing weekend damage at thia point.
