Less than a stone to lose (follow on from Four week blast)

About10lbstogo · 18/08/2022 18:17

I joined the Four week blast recently thread and found it so encouraging that I'm starting a new one. I'm a shortish narrow boned pear shape, currently about 8st 10. Wouldn't mind this weight except on my frame the excess congregates around my hips. Want to get more in proportion and back into some lovely clothes.

My aim is to lose the 10lbs, with as much exercise as I can muster (not an awful lot) and a general aim of 1,200 cals/day (notwithstanding chocolate occasionally).

Being accountable on here every day helped me so much on the last thread.

Anyone with me?

Hi, can I please join you? I started my “not a diet” diet in June with the aim of losing a stone or two. I started at 12 stone and I’ve lost 11 lbs so far but am starting to waver! I’m logging my food to make me more mindful, with the aim of eating no more than 1300 cals a day. Lots of walking and a bit of yoga is all the exercise I have managed with the heat. I’m hoping to up the exercise to shift a few pounds more.

I’m still eating after eights. I look forward to those four little squares after dinner. 😂

sunsetmeadow · 18/08/2022 22:31

Yes I'd like to join please!

Pre-pregnancy weight 8 stone 7, full term weight 11 stone 7, current weight 7.5 months post partum 9 stone 3.

I am 5 foot 5 so current BMI is 21.5.

I have a holiday mid October so would like to lose 10 pounds to be back at my pre pregnancy weight before then. Really struggling with this last push so some accountability would be good.

shrinkingbee · 18/08/2022 22:48

Yes! Can I join too?

I am currently 11s10 and want to get to 10at10 before my significant birthday in October.

Trying to add in a walk now 5/7 days & have put an end to the snacking.

Good Luck All

About10lbstogo · 19/08/2022 08:40

Welcome all. Yum, after eights!

Looks like October has a few dates for us to aim for, it's birthday then too, towards the end of the month.

I forgot to say I'm also logging food on the fitbit app, I've found it very helpful.

Went over a little last night as my friend cooked me dinner, but only around 1,400 for the day.

Am going to be very busy this weekend so might not be able to post much until Monday afternoon but I'm determined to keep my motivation up.

Good luck everyone! And yep October seems like a good target date - loosing 10 pounds in that time shouldn't require anything too drastic hopefully!

We are camping this weekend so I may not have signal, if not I will update on Sunday evening.

shrinkingbee · 20/08/2022 00:37

Hope you're all doing well - I had a busy day with work and have done well with the walk and no snacking!

Have a great weekend all

sunsetmeadow · 21/08/2022 18:22

Camping was a bit of a snacking blow out Blush definitely don't expect to have lost any in the last few days! Hope everyone did better than I did over the weekend

About10lbstogo · 22/08/2022 09:34

Hi All. Let's really go for it this week!

I'm unfortunately busy with work so can't write much, but will be trying hard. Hopefully work will keep me too busy to snack!

I've got a 10k run on Sunday Shock so want to eat lightly in advance of that too.

Best of luck everyone!

Hello! I'd like to join too. I have my first session with a personal trainer too (someone I know, and have been to her classes in the past). I have struggled for the last year esp with a new spare tyre, so hoping some weights and a fresh perspective will help.

Work is quiet ATM and WFH means I need to work harder on the food front. Onwards and downwards hopefully!

I put on 2lb over the weekend. No blowouts so hopefully just water weight. It seems to go on so easily now.

Leftbutcameback · 23/08/2022 09:47

Interesting first meeting with my lovely trainer - turns out it really is all about food. My muscle percentage is good, it's just covered by a layer of fat! Feeling even more motivated now.

About10lbstogo · 24/08/2022 08:37

Ah that's very interesting @Leftbutcameback Good, in a way, because it's marginally less effort to reduce what you eat than to exercise more, maybe?

I think my lower half may have the same problem, as I'm pear shaped. I've been going to the gym regularly for ages and my upper body is toned, so I suspect my lower half may be too, but hidden under wobble (largely chocolate induced!)

Unfortunately I struggle not to comfort eat about 200-300 cals/day more than my target of 1,200. Am trying to replace it with cups of tea, ice lollies or diet fizzy drinks.

Does anyone else have the same comfort eating in the evening issue?

CampervanKween · 24/08/2022 08:37

I'm stuck at 160 lbs and want to drop 10lbs to 150 but its proving tricky. I do a body balance class most mornings, but I do think it's the food that's the issue. I'm also 52 so imagine peri menopause is on the way although my periods are regular as clockwork atm. So could do with dropping the weight before that kicks in. Jumping in to join if I may please.

Leftbutcameback · 24/08/2022 09:03

@About10lbstogo I don't tend to eat after dinner, but between about 5pm and dinner time (which sometimes only an hour later!) Is my nemesis. Particularly crisps.

It's frustrating as I know it's self sabotage but I still do it.

The only time I've lost weight without trying is when I've had dental work which has restricted food / snacking so I do know it's a food problem.

About10lbstogo · 25/08/2022 22:44

Hello All, how's your week going?

I went to the gym today for (I think) the first time since the holidays started. Not a great effort but better than nothing. Have taken to "guesstimating" calories rather than weighing food which is probably a slippery slope Blush

What day is everyone weighing in? I might try putting in a big effort tomorrow, in advance of weighing on Saturday morning.

Come to think of it I haven't had very much chocolate at all lately, with any luck that's doing some good!

Hi can I join? Also aiming to lose weight for October when we go on holiday. I currently weigh the most I’ve ever weighed at 9 1/2 stone and want to get back to 8 1/2. I mostly aim to do this by not eating any chocolate until I go away as chocolate is my weakness! I have a cross trainer that I use most nights for half an hour but I need to up the exercise to at least an hour. Oh and I walk my dog for an hour and a half to 2 hours so I do always get my 10000+ steps in. Good luck everyone!

Put on a stone from lockdown and now in a office job...

Newtt · 29/08/2022 10:10

Hi,
Hope it’s all going well for everyone .

…’Unfortunately I struggle not to comfort eat about 200-300 cals/day more than my target of 1,200. Am trying to replace it with cups of tea, ice lollies or diet fizzy drinks…’

How do you manage a varied, balanced diet on this calorie count…
Do you have any website links for meal ideas etc that you could share please?..

I have put on lockdown weight, but being short (& middle aged), I am finding it hard to find / keep to a diet that has this sort of calorie count…

thanks!!!!

About10lbstogo · 30/08/2022 10:34

Hi All, glad you're here, I thought this thread might've died a death!

I'm still aiming for 1,200 cals but ending up around 1,300-1,500, so I'm not losing weight. Think I have a low resting metabolism. For me, weight loss requires serious effort.

Newtt, I've only been trying to lower my cals for a few weeks, normally I eat much more and I'm careful to get everything my body needs. I used to have an IBD which I keep under control through diet so I'm very tuned in to my nutrition.

Am managing a bit of exercise but not as much as usual, it'll be easier when term starts.

Good luck everyone!

P.S. Sorry no useful meal ideas, I don't have much time to cook these days so it's basically protein, veg, moderate carby thing and a sauce to make it less boring!

I have about a stone to lose.
Not going to eat myself up about exercise as I do what I can around work and family life. Mostly I swim about twice a week, once for an hour and once for 2 hours.
I have designed a set of rules for myself and if I stick to them I think I will lose the stone by Christmas.
A - no alcohol
B - no bingeing
C - no chocolate
D - daytime only. No eating after dinner.
Good luck all.

Leftbutcameback · 30/08/2022 11:29

I had my first training session with my PT yesterday and it was fab - she's so encouraging and I really enjoyed it.

She calculated the cals I need to lose weight and it's very manageable. The issue I have is that it's not working. It should be at least a pound a week but nothing moves. So I'm trying to up my NEET as well as doing the new exercise.

I can't reduce my cals further as I just get too hungry, but I will work on making sure it's more nutritious. Hopefully slow and steady wins the race.

Bat3 · 30/08/2022 12:01

I’ll join. I’m currently 9 st 10, but am only 5’1. Biggest I’ve been ever - apart from when pregnant.

I’m officially overweight on the bmi checker. Would like to lose 10lbs or more.

Bat3 · 30/08/2022 12:02

No alcohol for me.
No chocolate.
No finishing my children’s food.

newbeliever · 01/09/2022 11:58

Hi, I was on the 4 week blast thread but only managed 1.5kg in the end, though I’m pleased I’ve not put anything on since returning from holiday. I’m currently 10st 11 ( I was almost 12st back in April) and 5ft 7. The weight definitely likes my hips and thighs though I’ve noticed my waist has got thicker as I’ve got older. I’m 50 next year and the weight is definitely slower to come off than before. Aiming to get down to 9st 11 so a stone to go. Plan to try and keep to 1350 cals a day using mfp and walking to work and back each day plus a couple of runs a week. Hoping that will mean at least a 1lb a week, slow and steady and reach target by Christmas if not before. 😊

LadyCatStark · 02/09/2022 07:42

I have a similar plan to others:
no chocolate
no snacking
only eating between 12-8
working out daily plus 2 walks with my dog that I do anyway.

I find something that really helps is downloading a habit tracking app so I can mark off when I achieve my plans. It feels a bit like getting a sticker for doing a good job 😂 and I’m competitive so I try to keep my streak going.

I don’t know if I’ve actually lost any weight yet as I don’t have any scales but I do feel a bit more like myself 😊.
