Less than a stone to lose (follow on from Four week blast)

I joined the Four week blast recently thread and found it so encouraging that I'm starting a new one. I'm a shortish narrow boned pear shape, currently about 8st 10. Wouldn't mind this weight except on my frame the excess congregates around my hips. Want to get more in proportion and back into some lovely clothes.

My aim is to lose the 10lbs, with as much exercise as I can muster (not an awful lot) and a general aim of 1,200 cals/day (notwithstanding chocolate occasionally).

Being accountable on here every day helped me so much on the last thread.

Anyone with me?

Can I join please! I’m currently sat in a hotel room in France which is a very lovely place to be, were it not for the fact it has the first full length mirror I’ve seen in a fortnight and unless they bought it from Zippos circus I’ve put on a shed load this holiday!! Annoyingly it seems that you can’t lose weight whilst gorging on cheese and rose 😂I’m off on a girls’ weekend in 5 weeks and I’d like to lose 5 kilos by then (which may be a tad ambitious). I’m going to try and exercise more, cut out sugary snacks, and calorie count if I can. I’ve done dry January twice and always successfully lost the Xmas podge so I think cutting back on indulgences does make a big difference for me. I’m now 51 though, and the dreaded menopause is definitely making it harder for me to drop the pounds than it’s ever been before. Hoping joining this thread will motivate me to stay on track and not wobble (in either willpower or the belly department!) 😀

I’ve had a tough week, but am 4lbs down.

No alcohol or treats has been really hard work. Being on a diet is so boring! Determined to keep going though…

@HippoHips I find peri-menopause is definitely affecting my ability to lose weight as quickly as I could in the past. I’ve accepted it’s going to be a long, slow process … so long as I’m going in the right direction! I’m determined not to get into this position again knowing how hard it has been to lose weight this time around.

@Bat3 that’s a great result this week, you must have been very good! It is so motivating to have a loss like that, keep going.

I can’t quite work out what’s going on with my weight at the moment; I felt like I hadn’t put on weight on holiday and when I got back last Wednesday, I was 68.6kg. Weighed myself again this morning and I’m dead on 68kg! I’ve been losing weight at about .5 kg a week and I haven’t got back into my routine yet. Will be interesting to see what I weigh in a week’s time once I’ve got back to my usual diet routine.

Some amazing results here! Unfortunately I can't say the same for myself, I've only lost 2 pounds since 18 August Blush. I had family visiting for a week and failed to not indulge for that period. It's a pain as it just means I will need to lose more in a shorter space of time. Time to refocus, 8 pounds to lose before my holiday in 6 weeks.

HippoHips · 04/09/2022 21:42

@Bat3 That’s amazing! It’s flipping dull dieting so 4lbs is a great pay off.

@newbeliever Peri-menopause has played havoc with my metabolism. I know though that cutting out sugar and booze makes a massive difference to my weight, it’s just I don’t seem to have the willpower to keep it up. I’m a right gobble gannet so it only takes someone mentioning a biscuit for me to crumble!🙄

@sunsetmeadow I am gutted I’ve let the summer slip away with me too! I lost 4 kilos at the start of the year and have put it all back on since the kids broke up!! I’m hoping this group is going to be the help I need to stay disciplined this month. (No pressure there all 😂)

Bat3 · 04/09/2022 21:52

I had a bad day today. 😆 visiting the in-laws and I broke.

Full roast dinner plus chocolate pudding and double cream.

Back on it tomorrow!

HippoHips · 05/09/2022 17:34

I had a shawarma for lunch which is a posh name for a donor kebab. I am hanging my head in very heavy greedy gobble shame.

Leftbutcameback · 05/09/2022 21:35

I'm still not losing any weight, but I think I'm starting to learn more about what works for me, and what doesn't. mfp doesn't - I think it's a psychological thing for me.

On the plus side the personal training is going well, and I'm making an effort to do more NEET during the day.

Tarrarra · 09/09/2022 00:11

Good to see lots of you making progress. I’ve lost another few pounds but I’ve been struggling without my sweet treats! I’ve discovered that I can swap a biscuit for a blueberry rice cake or some dried apple though. I ate a chocolate digestive yesterday at work yesterday though 😀

I am being very strict about logging all food, and really need to do more exercise!

And so I have now lost 1 stone exactly! Slow and steady wins the race…

😭 I have a pair of size 6 hot pants that I use as a bench mark for how I look in clothes. To be fair they’re usually on the right side so I’d never actually wear them but I just tried them on and couldn’t even get the waist band to meet up 😭. That means I’m even bigger than I thought and I don’t even know why (I’m not pregnant). I wonder if it’s my age catching up with me, my antidepressants or I don’t know what as I’m sticking to my plan really well!

Or that you've changed shape? I put on under a stone (more like 9 pounds) but that was 2 inches on my waist. My thighs are actually smaller. Maybe that's only by comparison tho!

sunsetmeadow · 11/09/2022 07:40

Finally lost a few pounds - now 8 stone 13 so glad to have broken what felt like the 9 stone wall. Sad that I've had to only eat dinner plus 2 snacks a day to get there but if that's what it take then that's what it takes. Just under 6 weeks with 6 pounds to go!

LadyCatStark · 11/09/2022 18:42

@Leftbutcameback that’s what I’m worried about, if it was from eating too much, I could do something about it but if my shape has changed I can’t. I hate my rounded belly instead of nice, flat one 😭.

Bat3 · 11/09/2022 21:22

Well done to those of you that have managed to lose. I’ve had a great week - well so I thought - with strict diet and exercise, but only lost 1 lb. Very infuriating.

Tarrarra · 14/09/2022 23:43

@Bat3 Sometimes it goes that way. I blame water retention when I don’t lose or haven’t lost much. I also remind myself that I have digital scales so they only measure whole pounds and quite possibly I lost half a pound or 3 quarters 😂

Leftbutcameback · 16/09/2022 08:29

I'm on holiday this week - a very busy one (on an organised tour) but have made it to the gym finally, and swim after.

The food is good, especially the pastries / cakes, and breakfasts, so I hope the thousands of daily steps are mitigating some of it. I'm also drinking very little alcohol as I'm so tired! I refuse to feel guilty as it's the only time I'll be here so I want to enjoy the local food.

One thing I did notice was no-one eating in the street here. So I'm guessing less snacking and most of the people seem to be quite healthy.

I've also been trying some new food types - hoping for some inspiration when I get home. So far chickpea pancakes with pea puree and beetroot is a winner!
