Four week blast - 6lbs/2.7kgs to lose. Anyone with me?

SexyTimeNotGenderTime · 15/07/2022 16:01

I started a six week blast a while ago got derailed by life. So I’m picking up where I left off – anyone with me?

I have 2.7kg/6lb to lose.

I’m giving myself 30 days to do it. I want to be 2.7kg/6lb lighter on Monday 15th August.

I weighed myself today and I’m 54.4kgs/8’8lb. I’m 5’1 and carrying excess around the belly and the hips. I know you can’t target weight loss in particular areas of the body but a good overall toning will help firm things up.

In terms of diet – I’ll be calorie counting (sticking to about 1,200-1,300 per day), not drinking alcohol, trying to eat as healthily as I can.

In terms of exercise – I’m hoping to do at least three exercise classes per week (depending on weather/heatwave). I usually do boxing on Mondays, circuits classes on Tuesday, and strength training on Thursdays. There is also the option for a Saturday military bootcamp class but the instructor is very uninspiring so it feels like a bit of a chore. I’m off swimming tomorrow morning so might add that to my regular exercise plans.

Anyone with me?

I think I must be peri-menopausal Hereforaccountability my periods stopped last August and I thought that was it but they’ve been regular again for the last 3 months, though much lighter than what I experienced before. My weight loss definitely feels slower compared to the couple of times before when I’ve needed to lose half a stone. Given that I had one and half to two stone to lose, I did expect the first weeks to be more dramatic, but it’s just a slow slog. I’m pleased that I have maintained and still lost a little over the last month without trying, though adopting some new good habits 😊

tigerbear · 18/07/2022 14:55

Glad your knee is ok @Hereforaccountability !

Hello newbies!

@fiddletree everything you said totally resonates. I feel so resentful, especially as I never used to have to watch what I ate.
I was always ‘the thin one’ amongst friends and peers. Not any more 😔

Patience22 · 18/07/2022 15:03

Just checking in… I tested positive for Covid today and feel quite rubbish. Annoyingly I don’t seem to have the covid symptom of loss of appetite. Would you just know it…! For today I’m not going to be too hard on myself as I really do feel knackered and achey and have cravings for tasty snacks. I think it also explains the last few days when I’ve really struggled more than usual to watch what I eat.
Great to see everyone’s progress and commitment. I’m looking forward to getting back on track.

tigerbear · 18/07/2022 15:40

Oh no @Patience22 , that’s rubbish, especially in the heat too!
Hope you feel better soon.

I didn’t make it to the open air pool - I would have had to get an Uber there, and the fares had shot up to £20, for a journey usually costing £7!!

SexyTimeNotGenderTime · 18/07/2022 16:23

That's not good @Patience22 I hope you feel better soon. For now, just eat what you need to and concentrate on your recovery Smile

Oh no Patience22, poor you! Hope you recover very soon and can join in.

I'm doing surprisingly well, these efforts don't normally last long (like a day Blush) it's definitely due to writing on here.

Ran only 1km yesterday. In my defence, I left it too late and had to stop for the school run, also of course it was hot. Have kept to 1,200 cals for 3 days. Am on the mini Twisters today, 39 cals each Grin

Good luck everyone.

tigerbear · 19/07/2022 10:45

@Hereforaccountability well done on the running and for sticking at it! 👍
ooh, mini Twisters sound like a good idea, surprised they’re only 39 cals!! That’s way less than a banana! 😃

I’ve just done a session with my PT. Was brutal, even in doors in front of a fan.
Am sweating like a beast! 😬

EternalPoinsettia · 19/07/2022 11:02

With you! Similar stats and timeline

Hereforaccountability · 19/07/2022 11:48

Blimey tigerbear that's an incredible effort on such a hot day! It ought to be cooler tomorrow. Have you been swimming yet?

Hello EternalPoinsettia! Are you also aiming for around 1,200 cals? I've never done it before, instead I've aimed for low carb and ignored calories. Problem is, even with low carb, calories still (unfortunately) matter, hence I've not had much success.

TabithaTittlemouse · 19/07/2022 12:18

Can I join you? I’m 5’2 and 8st13. I was very underweight and don’t want to go back there but I would like to loose about 6lb and find my stomach again.

I think my downfall is alcohol (4-5 glasses of wine a week) and sweets at work. I’m vegetarian and gluten free so eat a lot of salads but will occasionally trip up and have a sandwich and suffer for it.
Exercise has gone out of the window at the moment so I might start with walking. I do swim but not as often as I could. I’m surrounded by beautiful beaches and could go after work. I work long hours (8-21:40) and definitely use this as an excuse but could do something on my days off.

tigerbear · 19/07/2022 12:24

Welcome @EternalPoinsettia and @TabithaTittlemouse !

@Hereforaccountability sadly didn’t make it to swimming yesterday. To get there I would have had to get an Uber, and they’d massively hiked their prices up - would’ve cost £40 in total for a 15 min journey!!

QuebecBagnet · 19/07/2022 12:28

Can I join? I started Monday last week and have lost 1.5kg. I’m doing intermittent fasting so don’t eat until midday and not after 6:30pm. Have also managed two days without Diet Coke, think it really makes me crave sugar.

just trying to eat healthy in my window. So yesterday was a chicken sandwich and cornetto for lunch, packet of wotsits and an Apple mid afternoon then a massive vegi stir fry for dinner.

tigerbear · 19/07/2022 12:35

Wow @QuebecBagnet , that’s an amazing amount to lose in just over a week!

AllThatAndMore · 19/07/2022 12:37

Can I jump on ? I haven’t weighed myself in a a few weeks but I think I have about 3kg to lose to reach my first goal for august 19th. That might be a tough one to reach .

SexyTimeNotGenderTime · 19/07/2022 13:35

Welcome newbies Smile

I wonder, how do all your partners (if you have them) feature in your weight loss efforts? Are they supportive? Are they also trying to drop weight?

My DP is also trying to lose weight - he's after losing about 2 stone by Christmas so much more weight loss, over a much longer time frame. It's great because we're both on the same page in terms of healthy food, not drinking etc. I'd absolutely crumble if I was trying to calorie count and DP was off to the pub every now and then Grin

I hope everyone is have a good day and keeping cool! I’m impressed with those of you who are keeping up exercising in this heat. I managed an hour walk early yesterday morning to keep my steps up, not sure I will manage it today. I’m due to do a other couch to 5k run tomorrow morning.

Good side effect to this weather is that I haven’t been hungry today at all! Didn’t have breakfast and have just forced myself to have some salad and chicken for lunch, but I wasn’t really hungry.

@AllThatAndMore I’m hoping to achieve a similar amount between now and 17 August. It’s not my final goal, but I go on holiday that day and 10 and half stone feels a lot better than the almost 12 stone I was a couple of months ago! I’d like to get down to 10 after the holiday, with a long term goal of 9 and a half. I find it easier to do it in one month spurts with a maintain month before starting again.

@SexyTimeNotGenderTime my husband could definitely do with losing weight too, however, his downfall is the dining room at work where he gets free meals, he can’t resist! It doesn’t matter what healthy meal I have cooked if he’s eating goodness knows what whilst he’s at work. I’m hoping my healthiness will rub off on him!

I did jump on the scales today, I was 69.9kg, I can’t decide whether to weigh daily to keep an eye or just once a week. I was tracking daily before with Noom, I fancied trying something different to my fitness pal, it definitely helped me with my initial 5kg loss. Has anyone else used Noom?

TabithaTittlemouse · 19/07/2022 21:01

@SexyTimeNotGenderTime my husband wants to loose weight but doesn’t want to do anything about it. I worry about him but would never interfere.

I went for a swim after posting. Came home and did some jobs and went again for a quick dip.
Planning on going again tomorrow night after work!

TabithaTittlemouse · 19/07/2022 21:02

@newbeliever I tried Noom but prefer nutra check. I can’t remember why though!

QuebecBagnet · 19/07/2022 21:05

Dh doesn’t need to lose weight. He’s a stick thin marathon runner who eats healthy, sadly he seems to live off cabbage and other green veg which I can’t stand or I’d get him to cook for me!

food has been ok today. Chicken sandwich at midday and wotsits. Massive veg stirfy for dinner with a cornetto afterwards. Had a banana and half a cider. I don’t normally drink alcohol ever but it’s so hot!

done a pilates class and a 20 min swim.

AllThatAndMore · 20/07/2022 05:49

@newbeliever I’m the same . I break up goals because otherwise it’s too overwhelming. I want to be 69.9 kilo for august 19th but my bigger goal is 66 kilo for September 25th.

I dont know what I weigh or how achievable that is . Yesterday I had a lot of salty food because it was so hot that’s all I craved . It wasn’t unhealthy food though ( aside from the ice cream 🙊). I’ll wait until tomorrow morning to properly weigh myself . I snuck on the scales last night after dinner and it was 74. I’m hoping to see a 72 tomorrow morning but that’s way too optimistic 😆

fiddletree · 20/07/2022 09:32

I actually haven't weighed myself yet. I will do it tomorrow morning -southern hemisphere here! I've been better at not eating between meals, and definitely consuming less sugar. Feeling better about that over last couple of days, but I am having a small glass of wine after a stressful day (new job), tonight. I know that to kickstart things I should probably do a fast day per week, as IF is what has worked for me in the past. My body has sort of become used to this current heavier weight, and I think I really need to boost myself out of the rut. But, I'm finding it hard to commit and not keen on the strained/stressed cortisol feeling I get while fasting. I guess I'm hoping smaller changes will work, though I get the sense I'm probably deluding myself....

Hereforaccountability · 20/07/2022 10:52

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm glad it's cooler today. Are you feeling any better Patience22?

I've been sticking to 1,200 cals, amazingly, largely through the novelty of it/the shock I had in an M&S changing room on the weekend/writing on here/diet drinks/many mini Twisters Grin I weighed myself today, after 4 days (so it's probably just water weight) and I've lost 2lbs and a very surprising 1/2 inch from my hips - a very stubborn area normally. Am thrilled!

Played tennis yesterday evening for the first time since school and found I really loved it. Am on a good path at the moment. How's everyone else doing?

Hereforaccountability · 20/07/2022 10:54

Good luck in your new job fiddletree and well done for managing intermittent fasting. My inner rebel comes out when I try it so it doesn't last for me unfortunately.

tigerbear · 20/07/2022 11:12

@Hereforaccountability thats fantastic re the 2lb off, well done!!!
Must admit, I’m slightly jealous of everyone else losing so much in such a short space of time. Weighed myself today, and can’t seem to get below 8 stone 10, despite having exercised every day for 9 days, done low carb for 6 days, and not had alcohol for nearly a week. 😬😬

Just done PT session outside, and was just about bearable.
Booked a swim for tomorrow and can’t wait!

Hereforaccountability · 20/07/2022 11:47

That's frustrating tigerbear, could it be that you're losing fat and gaining muscle - are you taking measurements too? And/or is it a bad time of the month?
