Just as it says really- I'm on my 4th week and was wondering if anyone else has taken it as well?

@Footbal i have just weighed myself and have lost 14lb in 2 weeks which is amazing! 10 first week and 4 this week. I have a lot to lose, aiming for 100lbs… and my usual pattern is to lose about 21 and then everything go wrong so it is very early days but I am really pleased.
I am not hungry, am eating a balanced diet but not depriving myself, just eating much less and very little snacking.
it this continues to work it could be a real game changer.
I’m paying for it through the Jupiter programme but may see if I can get it from GP once I have established it works….

Butterfly44 · 17/07/2022 09:29

@monicagellerbing you have to be obese with a high BMI to have this drug prescribed. GPs would only prescribe if you are in tier 4 weight management, though people can get it privately. Diabetes is not a criteria for prescription.

Butterfly44 · 17/07/2022 10:12

@monicagellerbing sorry I'm wrong. Ozempic is currently prescribed for type 2 diabetics, with a new drug called Wevovy soon to be licensed for weight loss. Saxenda is the drug that can be prescribed for weight loss.

monicagellerbing · 17/07/2022 10:50

Thank you @Butterfly44 wish I could afford it it sounds like it's really good but it's way out of my price range

Butterflystar76 · 22/07/2022 16:28

How is everyone doing? Still going well her, definitely feeling queasy if I eat too much with is helpful!

lardass88 · 23/07/2022 08:38

Lost 12lbs so far. Still can't see any difference 🤣 on second week of 0.5 , find the day after injection I just feel absolutely exhausted so thinking of changing my day I inject so it's over the weekend where I can relax - two side effects so far, usual constipation and last night THE worse sulphur burps - actually made me feel sick - any tips on this?

OP posts:
Butterflystar76 · 23/07/2022 10:13

I moved my injection to a Saturday to try to give a bit of space for any reactions. Not had the burps but get indigestion sometimes. Moving up to 0.5 next week so will be interesting to see if that makes any difference!

Butterflystar76 · 23/07/2022 10:14

@lardass88 did you find there was a lot left in your pen when you finished the first 4 doses?

lardass88 · 23/07/2022 11:43

@Butterflystar76 I did! Panicked that I hadn't been using it properly but apparently that's normal. I think you can buy extra needles from Amazon or somewhere but I'm not sure which ones you'd need

Butterflystar76 · 24/07/2022 10:10

@maltesersarethedevil that is amazing!!!

14lb down in 2 weeks with saxenda.

Are their side effects? What happens when you stop?

Butterflystar76 · 31/07/2022 19:11

Have lost 23lb in 4 weeks so am really pleased. Struggled with indigestion and ‘sulphur burps’ this week, think it was from having Indian takeaway.. trying to drink lots of water and eat as balanced as possible

Yup- it was. Huge supply issues here (Australia) it's turned into a bun fight to get it, and most people can't. Also turned into a major slagging context with type 2 diabetics- being accused (online) of killing them because the supply issues are also affecting their stock- pharmacists being judgmental and rude AF when people asking regarding stock! It's only been available (here) for 2 years and I don't recall hearing about huge type 2 diabetes deaths before that, so the you're killing us because you want to lose weight argument washes right over me........obesity, insulin resistance, PCOS, pre diabetes people who are also utilising this probably have also been dying/ affecting in large numbers before this or utilising health services more, so a medication which helps with all this is great! I believe though they are (hoping) to swap people over to trulicity when it comes out. Basically same drug, but three times the price and marketed as weight loss, not insulin- even though it's still insulin!!! Have had great success- slowly though as I'd rather not give myself pancreatitis through rapid weight loss- the indigestion if you eat or drink the wrong thing well and truly let's you know!!! I didn't increase the dose after a month as the smaller dose was working fine- so didn't see the point. Only ever went up to .75mg as no point increasing if it's working.

SD1978 · 01/08/2022 01:32

Sorry- that was huge! BlushConfused

Butterflystar76 · 01/08/2022 16:53

@SD1978 how long have you been on it? Have you found the effects continue as long as you stay on it?

SD1978 · 01/08/2022 17:21

I've used it for 6 months now- and have aimed for slow and steady- definitely noticed a good drop in appetite- just don't feel like having as much but still very much enjoy food! Juts naturally smaller portions and your braining saying enough a bit earlier!

Sulphur burps are awful. I had them for a bit and chemist wouldn't give me anything. I tried actimel out of desperation and it worked within 2 hours. Now have one every morning.

I've been on ozempic and have lost just under 3st since end of Feb.

lardass88 · 01/08/2022 20:51

@Unicornspirit thank you. Will try it

Mine is die to be delivered today but has been sent to the wrong sorting office.... so hopefully tomorrow!

jojogoesbust · 03/08/2022 12:44

Im just almost through my second week. Started on 0.5 as there is a supply issue with 0.25. 1st week i lost 9lbs. I had no appetite. Was sick 1 day, but felt ok after.
This week i seem to have had more of an appetite, but still can't eat as much. Eating very small meals. i was precribed as im DT2

GU24Mum · 03/08/2022 21:46

I've just done the first dose. Hopeful it will finally help me kick myself into shape.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 03/08/2022 22:23

My pen arrived today. I finding excuses not to start till next week though. Worried it will make me feel really sick. Can but try it….

I have got mine privately through an internet service. You have to have a BMI above 30 or above 27 with another factor like high blood pressure to have it prescribed online fir weight loss. I assume once you are on it you can stay on it even after you BMI drops out of the range?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 08/08/2022 22:25

I had my first dose earlier. So far nothing dramatic has happened. Will await developments.
