Hi ladies,

Here is the new thread.

I'm starting out at 9st1.25 this month, no particular aims this month. I've got a lot going on with my Dad and I'm not sure how things are going to pan out.

Lets hope for some lovely Summer weather this month.

Is that 9st 12.5? That's what my scales said this am - Confused The heaviest I have ever been - need to take myself in hand but I am no good at being hungry

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/07/2022 10:28

Happy July everyone!

Starting the month at 10/10, going to keep up C25K - I’ve done my three runs this week - and (loosely) do 16:8 now we’re on summer holidays. I finished on Wednesday and am off until 15 August!

LBB2020 · 01/07/2022 11:13

Happy July!
Thanks for the new thread @Octopus47 and sorry to you have lots going on with your dad.
I completely forgot it was 1st July today so didn’t weigh, I will over the weekend (although tmi I’m due on and so bloated). I haven’t snacked in the evenings for the past couple of nights and finally got back to the gym last night. Well done @Judystilldreamsofhorses , I repeated W2R3 last night as I’ve not run for 2 weeks, it was fine so will do W3R3 over the weekend which is where I was at. I have a couple of meals out with friends over the weekend so will try to be sensible then really knuckle down on Monday!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/07/2022 11:19

@LBB2020 I repeated two week four runs this week. Last week it was really hot and I found it hard, but I am ready to start week five on Monday. The last session there is running 20 minutes straight which seems like a lot. Week four is 16 minutes but it is broken up into two threes and two fives.

I did the third run at 10pm last night because the forecast is so much rain and I didn’t want to end up skipping it. I don’t even recognise myself!

QueenMabby · 01/07/2022 19:51

Hello ladies!
Starting the month at exactly 9 1/2 stone. One week til my holiday so I'm not expecting a loss this month!

Octopus47 · 06/07/2022 07:40

Enjoy your holiday @QueenMabby 9st0.25 this morning. I'm massively impressed by people managing to run in this weather.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/07/2022 10:21

Wednesday weigh in and back up the 4lb to eleven stone. Wtf? I’m back on HRT (Mirena and gel) so maybe that?

I’ve done two week five runs but the third looks too scary!

swallowedAfly · 06/07/2022 20:23

Long time no see and the scales prove it Sad

Well done on the C25K Judy and LBB and well done Octopus for still being a good weight with lots going on with your Dad.

I've had lots going on and am very tired and have put back on about a stone.

I'm afraid I'm not up for typing much but wanted to show my face and log my place on the thread. I've been avoiding mn in general for quite a while as it's been better for my head that way but have missed this thread.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/07/2022 22:53

Hello @swallowedAfly - lovely to see you and hope you are coping at least if things are tough. We’re here if you want a rant.

I did the third week five run this afternoon - 20 minutes straight with no walking break. SO proud of myself. I am very, very slow - old people with walking sticks are faster - but it shows that the programme really works. At the start I felt like I was dying at 60 seconds of running.

sparklyglitterball · 07/07/2022 21:16

Hey ladies! Well done on smashing through
C25k!! It's so worthwhile. Soon you'll be like me, too scared to stop running for fear of having to go back to the start.......it takes bloody ages to build up to 5k, well it did for me anyway. I've been pretty good on managing to do around 4/5 exercise sessions per week, mainly runs......but hasn't been so good, and I'm mainly losing then regaining the same 1/2kg. But glad to be kind of maintaining I guess. Hope you're ok @swallowedAfly. Am I right in thinking you're a teacher? Not too much longer until the end of term and a well deserved rest!

sparklyglitterball · 07/07/2022 21:17

I meant to say my food hasn't been so good. A bit too much junk 🙈

swallowedAfly · 08/07/2022 13:40

Thanks Sparkly, yes a teacher.

I have been trying to eat better rather than less as such the last couple of years. Good salads and lean proteins yesterday but a bit of crap on top too.

Peri has me all over the place. Last time I had a 'period' or whatever it was, it lasted over 2 weeks. Then this cycle was 43 days long and I'm now actually having what seems like a proper period. Don't know how much influence this is having on weight and appetite but I do know I'm only getting a few hours sleep each night and very anxious and emotional.

That and other things going on makes it hard to prioritise weight and food.

Octopus47 · 09/07/2022 09:04

Lovely to see you @swallowedAfly. Sorry to hear that you've had a lot going on, hope that you manage to get some rest over the Summer. Peri is horrible, the anxiety is hard even with HRT, have you had the chance to talk to your GP at all, they might be able to switch things for you. Not a miracle cure, but it might help you feel a bit better.

9st dead on this morning. Its been a tricky week. Have been up North Thursday to Friday, my Dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. We've sort of known for a couple of weeks but more or less confirmed yesterday. He has a permanent catheter which they fitted yesterday and has started hormone injections. It could have spread to his bones, we are waiting for a scan. I'm going to be going back and forth quite a lot for the foreseeable. Its exactly a year since his last big health scare, strong sense of deja vu.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Think we have some decent weather coming next week.

swallowedAfly · 09/07/2022 11:35

Thank you.

Sorry about your dad - we were at the point you're at about 4 years ago with my Dad. The waiting to see if it has metastasised is particularly horrible! He had/still has regular hormone shots and he had chemo and is doing ok with good blood test results each time now. Think he's never really been the same since his chemo though (hopefully yours doesn't need that) and the injections do impact on their strength, muscle mass and endurance etc. My dad is more sympathetic about hot flushes and the like than my Mum thanks to his shots.

Hopefully they've caught prostrate quick enough and he'll be in the same cheerful position as my Dad who happily tells us that it will be something else that kills him long before the prostrate cancer gains back enough ground Shock and Grin and ??? He is very much a, 'when it's your time it's your time' man.

Scales said awful things this morning. Really need to do something but everything seems out of control physically and emotionally at the moment. Peri kicking my arse despite hrt. Feeding into all of it is that I just don't seem able to sleep more than a few hours most nights. Some of the weight gain is less effort etc no doubt but I seem to be consistently burning significantly more calories
than when I was at least maintaining yet the scales keep going up.

Octopus47 · 09/07/2022 15:06

Thanks @swallowedAfly good to hear that your Dad is doing well now.

Unfortunately one of the blood tests he had suggests that it could have gone to his bones, but we wont know until he has a bone scan. They haven't talked about chemo at the moment, but tbh think he is much too weak and frail. They weighed him at the GP's a couple of weeks ago and was 9st, whilst carrying an extra 2 litres of urine in his bladder, which has now been drained. He is also 83, so quite old. They are having another meeting to discuss his case in a few weeks when hopefully they will have the bone scan result. Will have to see, trying to take it a day at a time at the moment.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/07/2022 00:24

<waves to @DirtonthePlough >

sorry to hear things are so tough @Octopus47 💐

@swallowedAfly sympathy on the peri front. I had a Mirena coil fitted last week and started on Oestrogel. So far I just feel crampy and bloated but fingers crossed it helps in the end.

@sparklyglitterball i did two week six runs last week but the second one was a disaster - far too hot and after a big lunch. I repeated the first one today and it went well, but I do feel like that bad run on Saturday has dented my confidence a bit.

DirtonthePlough · 13/07/2022 08:09

150lbs. I'm horrified with myself. I've developed a bad cinnamon swirl habit over the last few months and have been spending 800 calories a day on them. I've been clean for 2 days and this is day 3. I'm trying to eat less ultra processed food and focus on healthier choices. If I start counting calories I'll be knee deep in an eating disorder again I think so the focus is on healthy.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad octopus.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/07/2022 10:09

10/12 for me this week. I am 99% Mirena bloat and hoping things settle soon.

Octopus47 · 14/07/2022 07:57

9st1 this morning. Off up North again tomorrow for a few days. Hi @DirtonthePlough , lovely to see you. Think Cinnamon Swirls sound awesome btw, love anything like that.

Hope everyone manages to have a good weekend and either enjoys the sun or manages to shelter from it if it gets too much.

OP posts:
DirtonthePlough · 14/07/2022 10:23

Bollocks 151lb this morning. That will be the burger I had.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/07/2022 10:49

@DirtonthePlough I switched to weighing weekly for that exact reason!

LBB2020 · 15/07/2022 19:49

Hello everyone! I’ve been dodging the scales and this thread as I’ve gone off the deep end since my birthday and am embarrassed of myself, I have no self control whatsoever!
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad @Octopus47
Well done on keeping up with the running @Judystilldreamsofhorses, I’ve been so lazy and need to get my head back in the game!
Don't be too hard on yourself @DirtonthePlough (cinnamon swirls are delicious!)
Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the weather!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/07/2022 20:41

@LBB2020 if you can’t let your hair down for your birthday, when can you?

I did the third week six run yesterday - 25 minutes with no break. SO proud of myself!

LBB2020 · 15/07/2022 21:09

Amazing @Judystilldreamsofhorses you should be proud!
I'm going to start week 3 again and go from there! Will go to the gym over the weekend to take advantage of the air con!
