I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

I'm on day 20 and have lost 9lbs so far. I have gone up to 1.2 this evening and the injection site (tummy) is throbbing. Has anyone else had this?

You're supposed to rotate your injection site, so tummy, tops of thighs, tops of arms in rotation.

Sorry I should have said I am rotating, but I injected into my stomach this evening.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 20/01/2023 20:07

Aha! Ah, no other suggestions then. Are you using fresh needles every time? Maybe some arnica cream on the

LadyOfTheCanyon · 20/01/2023 20:07

Sorry, posted too soon! On the injection site.

Downtoyou · 20/01/2023 20:53

Yes fresh needles. Seems better now, will get some of the cream, thank you.

I'm now on day 18 and up to 0.6ml × 4 clicks. Im really enjoying this so far. I'm not having any nasty side effects fortunately. It just stops me thinking about food all the time.

I make sure to prioritise protein and fibre, which is naturally helping me make healthier choices.

I typically don't feel like eating til I've been awake for a few hours. I'm still going to the gym, so usually eat breakfast after that. I've been making chia seed pudding with whey protein and flaxseed added, along with some berries. Then I might have another coffee with collagen creamer mid afternoon. Then a normal family dinner, albeit smaller portions than before as my appetite is reduced. tonight was seabass with airfried sweet potato and broccoli.

No longer thinking about food throughout the day or after the kids go to bed (this is typically when I'd have a couple of drinks and lots of snacks, now I'm just drinking water). I went to a party on Friday night. There was a huge buffet and I was simply uninterested in it. I had one drink that I sipped slowly, and zero food. No interest. Really bizarre but so empowering, and made me realise I'd have previously be piling my plate high and stuffing myself as I could never say no even if I wasn't hungry.

So, in short, I'm loving this. With previous diets, I felt like there was always something that would sabotage me - like a party or a stressful day or a holiday, anything like that would make me blow a diet and then binge. With this, I feel like as long as I keep taking the injections, I can face all of those things without fear of how ill eat or get back on track after.

I'm down 12lbs so far too 🙌

drinkallthecoffee · 30/01/2023 07:56

Well done @BlackFlyChardonnay!

It really is so empowering isn't it? I used to drive to the little shops that were open late in the evenings and buy all sorts of cakes and chocolate, then I'd hate myself for it so eat it as quickly as possible to get rid of it. Literally no interest in doing that now. I'm so surprised when I look at how much I used to eat!!!

I've lost 3st since June 😊 best of luck on your journey!

Aseagullatemybaby · 30/01/2023 08:47

I’ve been on sax since sept last year with a break of about a month. I’m back on it now but it’s just not doing what it used to, I’m now on 1.2mg and nothing (this was my threshold when I was on it). Where am I going wrong?

Ive put a stone back on, snacking and eating just like before (something I swore I’d never do again after my 3st loss - now 2st because I’ve but 1st back on in 1 month! 😞).

Any tips?

PattyBladell · 30/01/2023 10:17

Sorry for the tmi but has anyone suffered with really bad constipation? I started taking it in November but stopped after about 3 weeks as it was so bad, I was so uncomfortable and nothing would help. I started again this weekend on the lowest dose, and after only 2 doses I am really constipated again. I have been eating healthily with lots of fiber but I don't think I can carry on taking it if it's always going to be like this

sisuyo · 31/01/2023 15:14

I've just started today, I'm looking forward to not thinking about food all the time!

I have 3 stone to lose so not as much as some but I am classed as obese due to my height.

What happens when I lose weight and need to order more pens but my bmi has dropped below 30? Would they still prescribe it to me.?

Ricco12 · 31/01/2023 15:48

Well I said I would come back and update

That's me 3-4 months off Saxenda and unfortunately not good news.

I'm back to the weight I started at Sad.

I lost 2 stone in 3 months on it but had to stop due to Gall Bladder pain , I seen a consultant and got a ultrasound there were no gall stones but he thought the drug had changed the bile and that was causing the pain and I was told I couldn't continue

Anyway here I am back to my starting weight.

Do disappointed.

SerenaB12 · 10/02/2023 22:26

Hi, realise this is an old thread but hoping someone will be able to advise.
Started 8 days ago, appetite is non existent, eating healthy small meals and exercise daily.
Have lost nothing, I'm so disappointed! I feel my stomach looks smaller but the scales are showing no change .. am 68kg and moved from pre diabetic to diabetic last year, only 5" so quite heavy for my height, BMI 29.
Following the dosage instructions, am now on 1.2. Luckily slight nausea and stomach pain but nothing major.
Can anyone please let me know what their first 2 weeks were like and has anyone else not lost anything in this time frame?
TIA

sisuyo · 11/02/2023 08:49

Are you counting calories?

I'm on day 11 and I've lost 4.5lb in my first week and will weigh again on Wednesday.

Yes, I'm under 1200 per day scraping 1000

sisuyo · 11/02/2023 18:20

@SerenaB12 maybe you are losing inches and it's not showing on the scales yet. That's happened to me when I've dieted before.

Maybe take some tape measurements and keep an eye on it.

I've upped my dose today and it's definitely made me even less hungry than I already was. But I'm getting a nausea feeling and then realise my stomach is really empty so need to eat.
I'm also going to the gym so I don't want to keep over if I forget to eat so might need to set an alarm to remind me Grin which is laughable really if I think back 12 days ago that was never going to happen

SerenaB12 · 11/02/2023 20:56

Thanks @sisuyo .. Will plod on!! Well done on your goal tho!!!

Caramac555 · 12/02/2023 22:24

Hey, I wanted to acknowledge your post. I didn't gain back all the weight I lost with saxenda, but gave it up after gallbladder problems.

Had the gallbladder and stones out a fortnight ago. As a drug it definitely helps weightloss but I'm certain it has caused me gallbladder and liver problems as a result, the weightloss was just too rapid.

SerenaB12 · 12/02/2023 22:31

Thanks @Caramac555 how do you feel now? Have you recovered well 🙏

Soloparenthelp · 14/02/2023 20:11

I’m just about to start. I feel so sick about the needle though ! How do you all cope with it ?

Ashwater · 14/02/2023 21:15

I pick up my first prescription tomorrow! So excited to start 🙏🏼

desperatedespy · 23/02/2023 17:33

Has anyone with a BMI of 30 or lower been able to get this? I've eaten less than 700 calories a day my entire adult life just to stop from becoming severely obese. I am several stone overweight anyway and cannot lose. But my endo just told me it's for people with a BMI of 35 or over. Is there any way round this does anyone know. Apologies for not having RTFT

SerenaB12 did you start on Saxenda when your BMI was 29 or not much higher? I just got told it needed to be 35 I think he said. Frustrated.

Hi, I thought it was BMI 30+ you could get it but maybe I'm wrong. I was over 40 when I started but am 34.7 now.

TauroLomo · 25/02/2023 22:51

Jumping in to place mark! Started this morning on 0.6, have 4-5st to lose 😩

TauroLomo · 27/02/2023 12:49

Day 3 on 0.6, finally feeling the benefits as the first two days I didn’t feel anything, not even the fullness or any side effects. Today I can barely manage a few mouthfuls of my lunch, thankfully no side effects either.

I’ll do my first weigh in tomorrow, starting weight was 15st exactly 🙈
