I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

I’m finding the constipation a bit difficult. I ate my favourite high fibre cereal yesterday and today and took some sennacot which I never have had to do before. We will see!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 11/10/2022 17:00

Sorry to hear about everyone's gallstone trouble. Sounds awful.

I've upped my dose to 1.2 and man has it made me feel nauseous. I'd plateaued for two weeks and thought it might be the kick I needed. I know that plateaus are normal etc etc, but I'm on 1400 cals 6 days out of 7 so I was hoping for a steady downward progress. Anyway, weighed this morning and it seems to have kickstarted me as I'm down another kg.

Went shopping for clothes today as my jeans are bagging quite badly and am happily fitting into 16 bottoms now, so that was a nice boost ( everything I have is a 20 or an 18).

How weird. I've had the squirts since I upped my dose!

bippityboppity87 · 11/10/2022 19:38

That's brilliant @LadyOfTheCanyon I was just thinking this today actually, my clothes at work were a lot looser than usual. Had to keep pulling my trousers up Blush But I don't see the point in getting any new clothes if I still continue to lose weight, as it will just be a waste. So maybe stick to leggings and a long top for now I think is probably my best option

If we're all talking about bowl habits here 😂 I'll just chime in and say that I seem to go to both extremes since being on it. Either constipated, unless I eat a lot of salad then I go completely the other way and can't get off the bloody loo! Can't win! Im going to assume that's probably normal

AgathaMystery · 12/10/2022 19:02

Crumbs we’re a lovely lot with our toilet chat aren’t we?!

I had an ultrasound today - no gallstones. No sludge, but …. TMI ….. Impacted faeces. I’m basically full of it. So I’ve taken a laxative and will wait and see. Grim.

I’ve also had bloods for celiac disease. The GP wanted it and weirdly it was the 1st thing the sonographer asked too.

I’m back on the pens. 1ml a day now. Still not very hungry. I’ve also totally forgotten to drink loads despite telling others to! So I guess I need a minimum of 3 or 4 pints of squash a day.

Stickykidney · 17/10/2022 15:48

Just a wee update.. third pen, 0.6 plus four clicks and no nausea but hungry is returning so it's time to go up... 9kg loss with low cal diet plus gym 3 times a week since the end of August. Delighted. Jeans and bras are looser and might be starting to see a bit of my face coming back..
Unexpected result is that I have cut down on my drinking a lot too! Willpower in a Jag! Will up another few clicks tonight.... Hoping that will help the hunger I have been indulging today with cups of tea, biscuits and crisps... Veg sat in the fridge untouched since Friday ....

Stickykidney · 17/10/2022 15:49

Oh and finding an 'uninterupted' ten mins on the loo does wonders tmi. And not always attainable!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/10/2022 09:09

Well done! I'm down another pound despite having a period and making some terrible choices ( wine, Pringles) in the last few days. I've upped to 1.2 as I felt the hunger creeping back in and apart from a few days of nausea I'm doing ok. I'd plateaued for a couple of weeks and thought that it might be time to go up a level. A couple of people have noticed I've lost weight, which is always nice , and even my mum who is no holds barred when it comes to honesty, Grin has mentioned that she can see I'm smaller. So just keeping on keeping on - accepting that eating less and moving more has to be forever, not just the period during which I lose weight: that's the tricky bit.

123sunshine · 19/10/2022 09:55

It’s good to read the positive updates. After 6 weeks I have hit the1 stone weight loss mark, I’m pleased with this. Not the quickest but I’ve had a mini break away in this time and various celebrations. I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself, just eating less (as I physically can’t eat anymore) and don’t crave the daily wine I was consuming (which was way too much and has been a big contributor to my weight gain). Still on 1.2 and will stay here unless my appetite kicks back in.

BackT · 23/10/2022 19:29

Sadly I think this is just not going to work for me anymore.

I've got to 2.4 and experienced the first symptoms - so constipated 😵‍💫

No loss for the last few weeks. Hungry and craving too.

I've been on it since June and lost 1.5 stone. I was 12 st 8 and now 11 st 1.

So advice to those who are don't have so much to lose is that it's slow going but easy. But with me now just edging into the "healthy" BMI it just isn't working.

I've spend about £600 and I'd say it's been worth it because it's got me out of a terrible rut.

I do think I'll put a lot back on though.

SedentaryCat · 24/10/2022 10:41

Still on 10lb loss. I tried upping the dose but the nausea was really bad...I'm still on 1.2 at the moment. It's frustrating and the cravings are coming back so I think I'm going to have to grit my teeth and persevere.

On the plus side It has given me the space to me think about what I'm doing and has helped me break some of my truly awful habits. Perhaps the next phase isn't to keep upping the dose but to start introducing some better choices.

AgathaMystery · 27/10/2022 00:24

Still loosing steadily here. My jeans and tops and bras are baggy. As is my watch. I’ve gone right off booze. So weird. I am def not eating anywhere near the volume I was. Oh cringe when I think about how much I was eating.

drinkallthecoffee · 27/10/2022 09:32

I too cringe when I think about how much I ate before! I was buying a bacon & sausage roll from Greggs with a cappuccino every morning. I'd usually have a choc bar at some point in the day then at night I'd go to the shops and buy cake, biscuits, sweets etc and scoff it all in one go. I pretty much just have one big meal a day now. I'm just not interested in food!
I've lost 32lbs since June! From 18st 2lb to 15st 12lb!! I can't believe it. Definitely worth the money.

I've been lucky with no side effects. I'm also still on 1.2 + 4 clicks. Don't feel like I need to increase anymore atm but there's scope to do so if I feel myself flagging.

I have also made some better changes - going to the gym a lot more now, playing a bit of badminton, doing a bit more walking. So it's not all the Saxenda, but it's definitely helped from the eating point of view!!

Hope everyone else is doing well Flowers

Thomasina79 · 27/10/2022 12:55

I’ve had a blip as I’ve been on holiday. I didn’t take the meds with me, as was afraid of getting it through customs. Consequently h have almost certainly eaten too much and drunk too much alcohol. But that was last week and I’m back on my usual regime now. I had been stuck I a bit of a rut, with no weight shifting. This might change now. Good luck!

bippityboppity87 · 27/10/2022 17:25

Hey everyone haven't posted in a while. The weight is coming off, but it's so sloooowwww 😩 I know it's better than putting on weight, but still. I'm just impatient it seems!

Now 17st 10lbs. So I think about 3lbs/4lbs down in 3 weeks? I think. No idea if that's normal or not! Tbf, I'm not counting calories, so I should probably start doing that

I had to email in a photo of myself on the scales as evidence for approval, which they accepted (Asda) So I'm guessing they're happy with the progress? The second one I've had to do since starting it

bippityboppity87 · 27/10/2022 17:29

@drinkallthecoffee

Sorry I'm probably being really dim here. And now I'm wondering if I'm doing the the injections wrong?! What do you mean by this "I'm also still on 1.2 + 4 clicks"

As I've been putting the needle on, turning it to whatever dose I'm on, put the needle in my stomach, press down until it clicks back to 0 and count slowly to 6, take it out again. Dispose of needle. Is the correct?

Yes that's right, the clicks thing is something I learned from this thread. Between each dose there are ten small clicks, so instead of going up a full dose I've just added four of those clicks, if that makes sense?

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 28/10/2022 08:18

Hi, can I join you? I've been on saxenda for around a month now and have been slow at increasing my dosage. I have around 5st to lose and my relationship with food and particularly sugar is out of control.

For me this is more about regaining control and developing healthier habits over a longer period than a quick fix so although I've only lost around half a stone I'm quite happy to plod along.
Being able to ignore treats in the house without a thought has been incredible for me. I haven't calorie controlled/dieted at all so far as I wanted to be aware of the choices I'm making if that makes sense.

Feeling ready to do that now though.

I've been on 1.2 with no side effects but we t to 1.8 yesterday and felt dreadful. Threw up my morning coffee and felt nauseous and head achey all day so I'm going back to 1.2 today and will add some clicks from tomorrow.

I really think this will work for me but I'm prepared for a longer journey than most and am allowing myself a full year if I need it.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/10/2022 10:31

Hello - I'm waiting for my first pen to arrive today. Any advice gratefully received. I've found reading through this thread very helpful so thank you all for posting with such honesty 😀
I have about 40Kg to lose so around 6 stone. My first goal is to get my BMI down from a somewhat terrifying 37.3. I'm 53 and menopausal so I need to just get this done.
I've lost weight through low carbing before but find it hard to sustain. I feel hungry all the time on a normal diet and really crave carbs. I am hoping Saxenda will take the edge off that.
I'm going to clean up my diet a bit and prep meals in advance so most days I can make better choices. Any foods I should watch out for? I don't drink so that's one pitfall I can avoid easily.

AgathaMystery · 29/10/2022 23:44

Just drink loads. I mean pints and pints of squash a day. I think constipation is probs the worst side effect for me. Otherwise it’s fabulous!!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/10/2022 10:30

Thanks for the advice. I've bought a new water bottle to make sure I keep drinking. Has anyone tried things like soaked flax seeds or psyllium husk to keep things moving?

First day was odd. Still a bit hungry but certainly less focussed on food. I don't know if it is physical or psychological, but I have more energy and focus. I just want to get on with stuff. I went out for a walk because I was sick of sitting around 😱😂 (Trust me I am very good at sitting around).

I'm going to take the opportunity to work on my diet a bit, so I started the meal prep yesterday. I made muffin tin frittatas for brunch, roasted some veg, cooked a double portion of spinach when I was doing a stir fry and cooked two portions of quinoa (DS2 has spotted it so I think I will only get one of the portions to use!). I couldn't finish the stir fry so there are leftovers to add to the plan.

I'm going to go back to 16:8 which worked for me in the past. I've also alternated with 20:4 (i.e. one meal a day) which I was fine with. I will see how I settle on Saxenda before I go long periods without eating. I am not going to low carb/keto but will watch my carb intake as I know if it gets too high I get monumental cravings. I will by some brown rice and wholewheat noodles today.

Sorry for the waffle but it makes it more of an obligation if I publicly say these are the changes I am going to make. I don't really want to discuss it with the family as they have seen me yoyo around losing the same stone /stone and a half for a few years.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 30/10/2022 11:35

I haven't told anyone I'm using Saxenda either- unused pens are in a yoghurt pot in the fridge ( DH wouldn't touch yoghurt with a bargepole!).

He was away for ten days recently and I lost focus quite a bit which I was surprised at. I thought only having to cook for myself would result in healthy choices but it actually was quite the opposite!

Cooking for us both makes me more accountable somehow as he is also choosing to make better choices around food, so there's no suggesting a cheeky take away here and there.

I'd plateaued for a while and actually put 2 lb back on, so I've doubled down in the last week and lost 6lb so I'm now at 1 stone 11 pounds lost since mid july so I've been averaging 1.5 pounds loss a week.

Several pairs of trousers are in the "falling down without a belt" category now, and I've gone from a 40G to a 36F which whilst gratifying, is expensive as I assume that's going to change again in the future.

If I can carry on at this rate I shall be at my goal weight around this time next year. To be fair, I haven't got a definite goal weight - somewhere around the ten stone mark will do me.

Well done to everyone just keeping on at it!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/10/2022 11:56

LadyOfTheCanyon
That's amazing progress, it's really inspiring to hear all the positive updates. It's also really helpful when people talk about how they've managed the bumps in the road because this is a long journey for most of us.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 30/10/2022 13:49

Thank you! I like that this thread keeps me accountable and hearing everyone else's stories is encouraging. I can get quite focussed during diets ( insofar as tracking calories etc goes) and while I hope that my attitude to food/portions/ cravings/bingeing is changing slowly, I don't know what will happen when I get to a long term "maintenance" weight as I'm terrified I'll pile it all back on, and Sax isn't a long term option for me, money wise ( not sure how long you're supposed to take it for, actually!)
