I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

I get the constipation too but try and treat it with a high fibre cereal. I’m not a medic, but I think laxatives can lead to a lazy bowel. It’s odd to me as I’ve never had problems in that department before (tmi).

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 30/10/2022 22:30

My story isn’t quite so positive. I was diagnosed with a gallstone and had my gall bladder removed recently. I’d lost 20lbs in July/August but had plateaued later in the summer, although never got to 1.2. I don’t know whether the gallstone was a result of my weight loss (discussed upthread), Saxenda (ditto) or something else as I’d had an attack prior to using the drug. I am concentrating on my recovery and any further weight loss is on hold. :-(

mythreeandi · 01/11/2022 12:35

Hope it's ok to jump on here!
I've just ordered my first pen.
I have about 6 stone to lose. I'm just worried about some of the side affects as I suffer with migraines and the thought of nausea and headaches worries me a bit.
I'm really hopeful it helps but money is a big factor for me, does everyone go up doses like advised?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 01/11/2022 14:14

I stayed on 0.6 for quite a while as it was working well at curbing my hunger. When I began to obsess a bit more about food/ I plateau-d/ felt more hungry I went up to 1.2

I've been on 1.2 a couple of weeks now and the first week it didn't do much compared to how I felt on 0.6, but these last few days I haven't been able to finish meals at all and have much less hunger all round. So we'll see.

Next time I decide to up the dose I think I'll only go a couple of clicks as the jump from 0.6 to 1.2 made me feel horribly nauseous for a few days.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/11/2022 14:22

I’m on day 4 and the nausea is mild so far. I have started to notice a real decrease in my appetite now.
Like others I will stay on the lowest dose I can get away with for as long as possible. Then I will go up a few clicks at a time rather than jumping straight up to the higher dose.

123sunshine · 01/11/2022 14:31

I'm at 8 weeks and still on 1.2 dosage. I have very little appetite and am loosing weight at a steady 2lbs per week, currently lost 1 stone 4lbs. I've a way to go! I won't increase my dosage unless the hunger starts to creep back in. I've felt the best I've felt in ages. I did a couple of years ago try saxenda and had an inital quick 1 stone loss and I upped the doses as recommended, ultimately I gave up as the side effects were grim. The current steady but surely way is working well for me. I don't bother to count calories, it becomes obsessive. I just eat very much in moderation, I manage either a slice of toast or a protien shake for breafast (and i'm really full), maybe at the weekend i'll have a brunch of a bacon sandwich. A light salad based lunch, soup, omlette or protien shake and for an evening meal whatever I am cooking for the family. I just find I can't eat a very big porion. If i'm hungry or fancy soemthing again I'll have it but just in moderation. I still drink a couple of days a week, which is a big cut down to what I was consuming previosuly (and a big part of my weight gain), and seem to be having a good achieveable success in my weight loss. I've come to the concusion that big all or nothing diets and cutting out of food groups or wine etc entirely is unachieveble and makes me miserable and is a forgone conculsion to failure.
Good luck @ mythreeandi

Hi all, I don’t often post but have been injecting since mid July and lost 21lbs but have hit such a frustrating plateau!! Have lost and gained the same lb for about 5 weeks!! Any advice!! I can’t increase the dose due to side effects (I have tried but anything over 1.2 and 4 clicks I can’t function!) and am exercising and eating small healthy meals!!
so annoying!!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 01/11/2022 21:18

@Catinka

Sometimes I think you just need to bear with it and hold on. I think your body takes a few weeks to adjust to a new weight before accepting that it can lose some more.

If you are in a calorie deficit you will eventually start to lose weight again.

I know it's frustrating but hang in there. I found upping my water intake made quite a significant difference.

Catinka · 01/11/2022 22:15

Thanks @LadyOfTheCanyon im trying upping my water intake, fingers crossed!

fingerscrossed4this · 02/11/2022 19:05

Has anyone else suffered with vomiting after saxenda? I took my first dose yesterday at around 6:30pm and all was fine till I woke up this morning. I've been vomiting throughout the day and haven't been able to eat anything. I've had my first meal of the day just now (7pm) and I'm hoping i can keep it down.

DorothyBinns · 07/11/2022 19:55

After being on Saxenda since 1st July, (full dose now), due to staffing issues at the pharmacy I usually get it delivered to, I’ve been off it for a week.

It’s been nice to not feel nauseous every morning but I’ve been SO HUNGRY. I’ve put a couple of pounds back on already.

I have picked up three more pens today so I’m wondering which dose to start with tomorrow. I had plateaued for a few weeks so I’m hoping if I start with 0.6 I’ll have ‘reset’ myself and it will be like it was in early July and the weight will drop off again.

Has anyone else restarted after a break?

AgathaMystery · 07/11/2022 20:08

Me! Restarted last night on .8 - felt appalling today, rang in sick for work.

DorothyBinns · 07/11/2022 21:18

Oh no @AgathaMystery sorry to hear that. Did you feel worse than when you first started?

alloutofcareunits · 08/11/2022 19:41

Hi joining in if that's okay? I've just ordered 3 pens from Asda, they'll be ready to collect tomorrow afternoon but I'm working through until the next day so will start on Thursday. Hoping to lose around 25 pounds, I've tried counting calories, SW etc but can't seem to shift it! Hoping for good results

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 10/11/2022 18:42

I'm off the wagon for a week or so. I had an allergic reaction to a cosmetic product and then followed reactions at injection sites and weirdly my earlobes when wearing earrings so my body has obviously gone into super allergy girl mode.

I'm going to need it to calm down and then restart.

On the plus side my sweet tooth has really been reined in and I've regained a bit of control over binge eating etc so alls not lost.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/11/2022 20:49

I’ve upped the dose to 0.6 +2 clicks as I was starting to get peckish in the evenings. Huge difference today. Much less hungry.

bippityboppity87 · 11/11/2022 16:25

I've been so unwell the past couple of weeks 🤧 so have barely been able to eat. Now down to 17st 7lbs. So at least one good thing came of it lol. Now if this cold could bugger off now, that would be great

troppibambini6 · 12/11/2022 23:33

Hi all I'm now down 19lbs since the end of august so not super fast but I'm ok with that.
Today I dropped down into the 12's, 12 stone 13 but still it starts with a 12!!
I'm on 2.4 plus 5 clicks I've only recently gone up and it's definitely made a difference. Everyone else has a curry takeaway but I had some soup as I just didn't fancy it.

AgathaMystery · 15/11/2022 10:19

Hi all - hope everyone is doing well. @DorothyBinns yes it was awful - much worse than day 1!! I now do my jabs at about 6pm - then by the time i wake the side effects are almost gone for me. I was doing them at sort of 10pm ish right before bed but the side effects by 7am were awful. I can't believe it took a week to settle.

That said, a new low on the scales this morning. I am 86.3kg - lowest weight since 2011. I'd love to be 82kg by xmas but let's see. I am down another dress size. Lots of lovely Hush dresses in a 16 that now hang too big. Annoying & expensive!

How is everyone else doing?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/11/2022 10:43

Just ordered my next 3 pens. I am losing gradually. It’s just nice not to be grindingly hungry all the time.

Dallimore · 15/11/2022 14:21

Just been approved for my 1st order, arriving tomorrow. Have been uhming and ahhing about it for ages

alloutofcareunits · 16/11/2022 11:59

I've done a full week now and have also lost 4 pounds, very pleased with that! I feel quite nauseous a lot of the time and almost like there's a ball in my stomach as I feel full up to my neck - that probably makes no sense but I can't describe any other way. Has anyone else noticed a lack of sensation in their stomach? I drink cold water at work and can usually feel it go down but now I can feel it cold down my throat then nothing, as though the trigger of feeling in my stomach isn't connected to my brain?! I can't feel the cold water hit my stomach like I usually would - anyone else?

AgathaMystery · 16/11/2022 12:54

Yes! What time are you taking it?

I find 4-6pm best as I can sleep through the worst.

alloutofcareunits · 16/11/2022 13:22

@AgathaMystery I've been taking it between 4pm and 6pm, I do a 25 hour shift most weeks and don't want to take it to work, I start at 2 and finish 3.30 the following day so today I've just taken at 1.15 as I'm leaving for work soon, I'll have the next at 4 when I'm home tomorrow. I thought about trying to take at bedtime on the other days but I'm an evening snacker and this has stopped me so probably stick with my current times. I'm not going to increase the dose today is I think it's having the desired effect at 0.6

AgathaMystery · 16/11/2022 14:01

It’s just trial & error isn’t it? I haven’t managed to get about 1.2 & certainly not more than 0.8 lately.
