I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

Hi, I'm still here, plodding away.
I am now on top dose and feel that my appetite has come back big time!
Has anyone else found this??

Moderatelyobese · 09/09/2022 20:02

Yes! I’m up to 1.8 and still getting nausea but also feel as if my appetite’s come back a bit. I’m a bit reluctant to up the dose because of the nausea.

Indoctro · 09/09/2022 21:53

Well that's my Saxenda journey ended abruptly.

23 June started and 2 stone lost but unfortunately 2 very painful gallbladder pain attacks

One last Friday and one today. Ended up at doctors, I've a inflamed gall bladder and on antibiotics incase it's infected and been referred urgently for a scan to see what's going on

Seems it's one of the risks associated with the drug.

I've to stop the injections immediately, rather annoying as just bought 3 more pens too

I'm hoping I don't need my gallbladder out but he said it's possible.

zobalina77 · 09/09/2022 21:54

I'm on my fourth day of 1.8 and the nausea has hit me bad today. I do feel like it's working now on this dose, I can only manage very small portions and I don't think about food constantly now. I've lost 9lb now at 2.5 weeks in. Hopefully the nausea will subside soon and it keeps working at this dose, can't really afford to up the dose anymore.

Stickykidney · 09/09/2022 23:00

Thanks @bibippityboppity87 it's been a better day today.
I'm always a bit slow but aye I feel a def fog that's for sure!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 09/09/2022 23:27

Ouch @Indoctro

Yes it's pretty painful

I didn't realise it's actually quite a high risk of the drug.

Kinda regret taking it now especially if it causes me having to have my gallbladder out.

I guess it's my own fault for not taking more noticed of the side affects.

Indoctro · 10/09/2022 07:13

Had a look on website and normally it tells you say 1 in 100 risk or 1 in 10000 etc

But on Saxenda website no mentions of the actual chances of the risk

Day 1 on Saxenda
WinterCarlisle · 10/09/2022 22:27

Hi everyone, I did a couple of days on 0.6 which did very little so I’ve upped to 1.2 which has made me feel grim! I’m sooooo windy (both ends 😬) and feel quite queasy.

I also feel like I’ve knocked half my IQ off but I’ve recently started HRT due to unbearable peri brain fog so to be fair it might still be that.

Not hungry at all but when I do fancy something I want sugar which isn’t ideal. Anyone else found this? I’ve had a very stressful couple of weeks though so hoping things all start to settle down a bit.

I had no idea! I know frome friends that have lost weight quickly gallbladder trouble has sbotheredd them.. I didn't know. Hope you are ok

bippityboppity87 · 10/09/2022 23:29

Checking in

@WinterCarlisle Yep, beeb feeling a bit slow for some time now. Not remembering common words etc, it's definitely gotten worse. Not really sure why it's happening, it's odd. And I'm tired. Tired A LOT

@Indoctro Oh gosh I'm so sorry. What a nightmare Sad

I'm currently on 1.8. I ate at 2pm but really can't bring myself to eat again. I tried before, but it didn't end well and ended up feeling very ill

Indoctro · 11/09/2022 07:28

@bippityboppity87

Thanks

I'm hoping I can continue with my much improved eating habits. My diet generally is pretty good, unfortunately my issue has been binge eating which I think is linked to me being adhd. Anyway my main hope for Saxenda was to stop me binging and if it did for long enough the habit/addiction would be gone

It's been about 11 weeks I've been on Saxenda and I haven't binged once so it's 100 percent helped with that.

I've been off it 48 hours and so far so good, I just need to take it a day at a time but I'm hopeful it's broken a awful habit I've had for last 10 years Confused And given me a healthy relationship with good.

If I can take that away from my Saxenda journey I will be over the moon

Good luck everyone and if any does get pain at right side kinda under were best is stop the jab straight away and go see GP. Mine had been niggling but I had ignored it as didn't actually know what it was. I thought it was indigestion.

Good luck everyone x

Melliejpizzle · 12/09/2022 19:31

Hiya, i am on week 2 day 2 and on 1.2, i still want to eat!! Is that normal?!
My appetite was less in the first week but feel like it was a placebo affect 🤷🏻‍♀️...i lost 3lb and do not mind doing slow and steady, i just can't believe i still want to eat 🙈🙈

SedentaryCat · 13/09/2022 14:10

Slight weight gain this week - 0.5lb so probably within normal fluctuation. I'm going to step up to 1.8 tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Been a bit hungrier over the last couple of days. Also probably need to eat a bit more fibre Grin

I had a really bad start to today - shitty text from my dad -- which would usually send me into a huge binge but not this time. I'll take that as a win!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 13/09/2022 16:01

Weighed this morning and I'm another 2 pounds down so that makes 1 stone 8 pounds in about 9 weeks.

Still on 0.6 and between 1200/1400 calories daily. I'm a repetitive eater so I find it very easy to just find stuff I like that fits my calories and eat it day after day.

Clothes (especially trousers and jeans) are getting too big now. Time to get on Vinted for some in between sizes as I don't want to invest too much in clothes as I'm hoping to go down another couple of dress sizes yet!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 13/09/2022 16:09

What do peoples daily meals look like, out of interest?

My breakfast is normally yoghurt and fruit

Apple or melon for a snack

Lunch is either chicken salad or Karg low carb crisp breads with tomato, avocado and cream cheese

Handful of nuts for a snack, or possibly a nut protein bar

Dinner usually something like:
Salmon with broccoli
Veggie curry with a small amount of brown rice
Baked sweet potato with mixed salad
Working my way through Michael Mosley's fast 800 recipes - there's some really good ones in there!

Sometimes a mini Calippo or a Solero if I have the calories spare!

bippityboppity87 · 13/09/2022 20:37

@LadyOfTheCanyon Almost none existent Blush I have been trying, but the thought of food sometimes just isn't appealing

So today I had a bacon roll this morning and regular a caramel latte from Greggs. Struggled to finish the coffee though, and put the remainder in the bin, which is annoying as I usually love them! I will try and eat something, even if it's some fruit before I go to bed

Yesterday I had

Breakfast: (again) bacon roll

No lunch

Dinner:Chicken ceaser salad

I usually stick to salads and bulk it up with some form of meat. Which my stomach seems to tolerate most than other foods. Or a pitta bread with salad and chicken for example

Then pick on fruit if I feel my energy waning

bippityboppity87 · 13/09/2022 20:42

Current weight is 18st 4lbs (from 2 days ago) haven't weighed myself since then. From 19st 4/5lbs can't remember which one it was exactly

Half way through week 3? I've lost where I am already 😂 Should have written it down. I don't count calories. I've just followed what my body wants, intuitive eating? I think its called. Either way, it seems to be working and I hardly ever think about food anymore or hungry really

bippityboppity87 · 13/09/2022 20:44

Oh meant to say for breakfast sometimes I have a single bit toast with either beans or scrambled egg. But I usually skip lunch as I'm still too full until dinner time

Stickykidney · 14/09/2022 08:43

Stupid stupid question... I had come to a level with 0.6 dose that was ok! Upped to 1.2 as the plan says a week ago and on Saturday night was woken with horrendous diarrhoea (tmi I know) which has been the worst of my life. I put it down to some fried chicken I had had that lunch and the 8 vodkas I had that night.
The Sunday I was ok... No brilliant but thought I was over it... Monday and yesterday I was crippled with the pain..and tired from going to the loo about every two hours. So I skipped my dose last night. Didn't feel right to be feeling so Ill I had to call in sick for work.
I'm feeling on the road to recovery now... And thinking it was maybe a bug? What do I do about tonight's dose? I was thinking down to 0.6 again... Or give it another day to recover properly before I do that do myself again 😩

Parsley1234 · 14/09/2022 08:47

Has anyone tried VLCD with saxenda ? I lost 30lbs 10 years ago on it and kept it off for 8 years pandemic saw a gain of 20lbs through poor choices and lack of structure am keen to lose again and thought I’d give it a go together

AgathaMystery · 14/09/2022 14:46

Hi all. I will catch up later as at work but I am 8kg down now.

bippityboppity87 · 14/09/2022 15:33

I seemed to have stalled for a good few days now. I'm assuming that's normal until my body adjusts and I'll have a big whoosh. Well, hopefully...

No I haven't tried VLCD @Parsley1234 I did try Keto for a while, which seemed to work, but it just wasn't sustainable for me so gave up in the end. Then piled all the weight back on

bippityboppity87 · 14/09/2022 15:36

@Stickykidney Funny you mention that. I was a bit poorly yesterday. Diarrhoea etc. Had single a gin and lemonade, then threw it up not long after 🤮 was not good. That's never happened to me before. There is a bug going about and I have been a bit sniffly, so I'm putting it down to that combined with Saxenda. Currently on 1.8

Parsley1234 · 14/09/2022 15:57

@bippityboppity87 thank you for your reply I think I will try then transition to keto I have osteoarthritis start of so losing weight about 20lbs wd be great and keto is recommended for that so see how it goes
