I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

I've finished my first week and have gone up to 1.2 -- have lost 1.5-2kg, all in the first couple of days. I've also been under the weather this week, and fatigued, but believe this is unrelated.

I've not had any side effects like acid reflux or nausea. I'm not even sure my appetite is suppressed. However, doing this daily ritual of the injection is great for my motivation and I've eaten and drank much less than I normally would.

Good luck next week, everyone :)

bippityboppity87 · 21/08/2022 10:59

Ok first day done. Went on the scales this morning. I've lost 5lbs Shock

AgathaMystery · 21/08/2022 13:54

Well done!! Don’t forget to drink LOADS - whatever you think is a lot, add a couple of pints of sugar free squash.

i am sooooo constipated but (TMI) I’m eating so much less so possibly there is… well. Less? Who knows. I need to take some dulcolax tonight!

bippityboppity87 · 21/08/2022 14:24

Yeah been drinking plenty of water. I've had about 5 pints of water already today. Been so thirsty!

AgathaMystery · 21/08/2022 16:27

I definitely have a dry mouth all the time. It’s no bad thing but it’s pleasant is it.

I’ve come away for the week with just one pen that I’ve done 12 0.6mg doses and 2 0.8mg doses from. Honestly I could kick myself.

need to do some maths to see how much more I can get out of is. Honestly I’m livid with myself.

Of course we have a lovely car picnic and there are fresh sheets on the beds to come home to and the cat sitter it’s all arranged and the garden watered and the bins emptied. I took care of everyone except myself. Raaaaaage.

Hi, I have only just heard of this and hope it could be the answer to my prayers! Has anyone been able to get it on the nhs as they are so expensive. Im 20stone and type 2 diabetic.

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 21/08/2022 22:48

I tend to burp if I’ve eaten something rich. Been on it just over seven weeks now but plateaued due to the increase in calories. I haven’t gone mad but allowed some bad habits to creep in, so back to being disciplined tomorrow. I’ve also bought three more pens and expect to go up to 1.2 shortly. Not sure how the earlier price per month was calculated but Asda do three pens for around £140 and I expect they will last 10 weeks. Might have lasted longer if I hadn’t done the test squirt each time…

ZestyDragon · 22/08/2022 19:16

I've lost 3lbs this week which makes a loss of 10lbs in two weeks. I am on 0.6plus 4 clicks but I am starting to feel hungry more so I think I am going to up it to 1.2. I am still constipated in in general but hopefully that sorts itself out soon.

Harridan1981 · 22/08/2022 19:38

I'm on around day 14 I think, and about 11lbs down. Am definitely less hungry, but am moving a lot more too.

bippityboppity87 · 22/08/2022 19:50

Same I'm on day 3 and definitely not hungry most of the day

Today I managed a single piece of toast with a portion of beans for breakfast

Nothing for lunch as I wasn't hungry. Had to force myself to eat my breakfast! And took a nap because I was exhausted

Dinner was one pitta bread with salad, a few bits of grilled chicken and some Caesar dressing

Has anyone been taking (or been told) to take additional vitamins when using this drug? I'm wondering because I'm barely managing to eat, I should maybe add it in?

Also (sorry waaaay tmi Blush) but I can't stop passing wind! I hope this settles soon as it's not exactly ideal when you're out in public 😂

troppibambini6 · 23/08/2022 10:20

Hi jumping back on after pretty much 3 weeks away and off saxanda. Before I went I lost a stone in about 6 weeks. I've just weighed and yep I've put every single pound back on.
Feeling really fed up and pretty disgusted with myself to be honest.
Started again from the beginning with 0.6 jab last night when I got home.
Not feeling hungry this morning at least.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/08/2022 10:37

@troppibambini6
Ahhh that's a shame - did you calorie count while you were away or let the good habits slide?

You can get this drug on the NHS but it is (quite rightly) difficult.

It can be prescribed under the tier 3 weight management scheme (your GP can refer you if you meet the criteria). Where I live the criteria for saxenda is:

On tier 3 system,
diabetes or pre diabetes
and
high cholesterol
and/or hypertension

my GP has been very clear that no matter how well I do on saxenda I won’t be getting it on the NHS. I am waiting on my tier 3 referral being looked at as I need the psych input. I don’t want to come off saxenda and put all the weight back on - this is something all the evidence points to. It’s a weight loss aid not a weight gain stopper.

Wanted to ask the same. What happened & (out of curiosity) what made you decide not to take it whilst you were away?

bippityboppity87 · 23/08/2022 12:19

That's interesting @AgathaMystery I'm under the CMHT and when I filled the form in l, I was upfront about my mental illnesses and the medications I take (bipolar and adhd) as well as IBS and was given the all clear to take it

I have an appointment with my psych next Monday. If I explain it to him (I'm assuming he'll already be aware I'm on it) can I ask him for it to be transferred to the nhs? I've already seen a dietician

Honestly I’ve no idea. NICE criteria are very strict as it is so so expensive. I know NICE set the criteria not individual surgeries.

good luck!!@

bippityboppity87 · 23/08/2022 14:22

It's so annoying getting conflicting answers. When I asked the nurse about it a couple of months ago, she said yes, you can get it on the nhs, but because I have IBS I would be turned down for it (no idea why) But when I filled the form in for Asda Pharmacy, it wasn't a problem. So now I'm like hmm.. 🤨 I'll ask on Monday

Starting weight: 19st 2lbs. Current weight: 18st 10lbs. Which in 4 days isn't too shabby! I'm pretty impressed

troppibambini6 · 23/08/2022 14:33

@AgathaMystery I was actually going to take it but was abroad for 3 weeks and no one knows I'm taking it so the whole taking it through security seemed a bit of pain.
I didn't calorie count no. At first I was pretty good but it was hard as we eat out everyday twice a day. I didn't eat any desserts only had a starter twice and eat fish most days. I did drink though not ridiculous amounts but obviously enough combined with the food to put weight on.

Anyway onwards and hopefully downwards!

Chicken and quinoa salad for lunch
Stir fry with protein noodles for dinner

I’m no authority on it. I just know the NICE guideline & what my practice has said. I don’t have diabetes or pre diabetes so I’m not an NHS candidate.

i tick every other box!

I had exactly the same experience on holiday when I stopped taking it...I was sensible and controlled over what I ate/drank whilst not calorie counting and still put on all I had previously lost in just 10 days away. Since returning I've managed to lose it again (over course of three weeks) so now hoping to continue the downward trend 🤞🏻

fridacakehole · 23/08/2022 16:56

I started on the 18th and have lost 13lbs already. But I always have lost a tonne of weight in the first week of any plan.

I don't feel hungry in the slightest on 0.6. The side effects have varied and two days okay I almost jacked it in as the acid reflux was so painful.

That's subsided now but I am quite burpy and feel a bit nauseous from time to time.

The one thing I have enjoyed and hope to keep enjoying is feeling full and putting my knife and fork down. This is a habit I'd love to keep!

bippityboppity87 · 23/08/2022 17:57

Oh that wasn't a dig at you! @AgathaMystery Sorry if I wasn't clearer in my post. Just talking about the general consensus between health practitioners being all over the place

bippityboppity87 · 23/08/2022 18:00

That's brilliant! @fridacakehole I'm going to try and stay on 0.6 as long as possible. So if I'm still fine after this week, I don't see any reason to increase the dosage if it isn't needed and waste my very expensive pen

I'm struggling to eat too. Had half a muffin this morning and the thought of having anything else isn't appealing to me at the moment. I'll try and eat something, as I know having that little food obviously isn't good for you either!

AgathaMystery · 23/08/2022 19:49

Oh I meant to say, day 16, still on 0.6mg.
5kg loss
