I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

It's odd, isn't it? I've had a couple of chocolate rice cakes here and there but my desire to just grab a chocolate bar has disappeared. I tried a mint Daim bar last week ( delicious, by the way!) but ended up eating it over three days because I didn't want more than a nibble each time.Grin

bippityboppity87 · 18/08/2022 19:54

Just ordered my first pen. Should hopefully get it by Saturday. I would have got it earlier if I had filled the blimmin' form in properly 🤦‍♀️ I did wonder what was happening! I've only ordered one because A) can't afford more right now and B) If it doesn't work/agree with me, then it isn't a complete waste of money. So 🤞

Cantonet · 19/08/2022 13:31

4 kg off after 3 weeks. My BMI is under 35 now which puts me in a lower risk category & I'm thrilled about it. I'm staying on 1.8 for the next few days, as I'm still feeling major appetite suppression. However I will move up if this changes.
I do notice that when I move up there's a slight flattening out of the weight loss. But that may well be due to the weekend 🍷

I too have a background in research. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating... or not, as the case may be. Individuals all seem to be react very differently to this drug. As long as a low dose works for you, carry on with that. I feel as I lose weight slowly, going up a dose weekly has been more effective. I do still hope to stay on the maximum dose for as long as needed. But the maximum dose can be 3 or 2.4 for some individuals. I've read an interesting post that advises once you've lost the weight going back down slowly in dosage again to allow your body to acclimatise. Which certainly makes sense.

Moderatelyobese · 19/08/2022 15:37

Has anyone actually made it up to the full 3 dose?

AgathaMystery · 19/08/2022 23:03

Dunno.

Went up to 0.6+ 2 clicks tonight. Already feel nauseated. Will drop back down tomorrow. It was my 14th dose and my 1st above 0.6.

Couple of questions for you all!

When you do your flow checks does literally a tiny drop appear on needle or does it squirt out like the two pens I have tried? (Online dr and real life pharmacist are pointing at each to confirm it's okay?)

And when you start using the pen, do you leave it out of the fridge. Going camping next weekend and trying to decide how to keep it cool!

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 10:24

Hi everyone. That's me taken my first dose of Saxenda 😬 I really hope this works!

AgathaMystery · 20/08/2022 14:51

A tiny drop appears. It shouldn’t squirt out - it’s wasting the drug!

once you start using the pen it lives in the fridge. Unopened pens can live out of the fridge but should not get hot/warm. I have no idea how you’ll achieve this when camping. Possibly a cool area in your car? We have a compartment that stays cold no matter what.

I thought it was the other way round?!

Cantonet · 20/08/2022 15:04

No, you refrigerate unopened pens.
Once opened you have to use your pen up within 30 days. It can be stored at room temp. between 10-30°. However during the heatwave I stored mine in the fridge as I thought that was safest.

Phew!

AgathaMystery · 20/08/2022 15:25

Sorry all! Wrong way round. I wouldn’t want it to get hot in a tent tho!

It squirts out... I also contacted the chemist which said it was fine. But it seems awfully wasteful to me.

NoMoreCoffeePlease · 20/08/2022 16:37

Maybe it's too cold in the fridge and that's why it squirts out? Might take mine out to see if it makes a difference.

Cantonet · 20/08/2022 17:07

You only check the flow once on each new pen. It should be only a drop.
You need to move the dial from 0 to the first line. Then depress the button.

God I'd completely missed the bit where it says 'each new pen'. Thank you thank you!

fridacakehole · 20/08/2022 17:49

Thanks for setting my mind to rest!

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 18:13

Probably been answered already, so apologies for repeat questions. First day

Is it normal to feel really really tired?! I could go to bed right now

Not hungry. But had half a cheese and ham baguette, couldn't eat anymore as it started to make me feel a bit nauseous. Lasted about an hour

I'm fine now. But just wondered if this happened to anyone else and if it settles? Felt like I was really hungover

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 18:16

Also how often are people weighing themselves? Is everyone keeping to the standard once a week or more than that?

KrankySchwester · 20/08/2022 18:27

Yup to tiredness. That’s getting better but the lethargy is still there.

I weigh myself daily. When I haven’t that’s when I gain weight. I think I’ll have to weigh myself daily for the rest of my life

AgathaMystery · 20/08/2022 18:47

Yes to lethargy. I was basically a slug for first 3 days then ‘woke up’.

I weigh every morning after a wee. Every day it goes down and today I saw a new number!!! I weigh in kilos and today I’m (just) into the 80’s.

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 19:56

That's brilliant! @AgathaMystery

Ah ok, that's good to know. I've literally had half a baguette with ham and cheese today. The rest is in the fridge. Couldn't stomach anymore 🤢 But will try and eat the rest tonight. And a couple of coffees and water. Also walked 12.5k steps

So will be interesting to see what the scales say tomorrow!

Moderatelyobese · 20/08/2022 20:43

I’m weighing weekly. 2.5 kg off this week, which I’m delighted with. Am less delighted about feeling queasy so much of the time, though.

Lulibee · 21/08/2022 01:24

The therapeutic dose is 3mg and this is what clinical study uses to prove efficacy and which was used to gain authorisation. It is the optimal dose for a therapeutic response.

The dose titration is to aid tolerance and subsequently adherence to the drug by trying to reduce side affects. Going in at 3mg straight off could mean there are too many intolerable side effects and people would stop taking it.

fridacakehole · 21/08/2022 04:30

Anyone else with acid reflux? Has it passed for others?
