I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

That's good to know. I have ordered mine from Boots.

Had my health check results today - need to lose 34kg & I have hypertension & high cholesterol. I don't have pre-diabetes or T2 so I won't qualify for Saxenda on the NHS. I have also requested a tier 3 referral. Going for bloods for that today.

Moderatelyobese · 04/08/2022 19:07

I missed a day yesterday (up early and in a hurry, home late) but did it at my normal time today. I felt noticeably hungrier yesterday and still quite peckish today!

Harridan1981 · 05/08/2022 21:54

I finally collected mine and started today! Took it at 8 to try to avoid side effects

Good luck! I’m still waiting for mine… Boots have been worse than useless.

StrawberryIceQueen · 06/08/2022 14:55

Been lurking a while and on saxenda for over a month now, with a disappointing 9lb loss. Although tbf, that did include a week's holiday followed by a week of covid.

My main side effect, since hitting 1.2 dose is redness and itching at injection site. Skin around gets swollen and hard, like a bad insect bite. the Dr advised me to try antihistamines which are slightly helping. Anyone else had this?

I'm only on 1.2 so thinking of upping to 1.8, but worried side effects will worsen...

Nightmare aren't they. Took over a month to get mine at least.

amarante · 06/08/2022 19:11

Has anyone kept some of the weight off after stopping taking it?

amarante · 06/08/2022 19:29

Akite · 25/07/2022 09:58

I weighed myself this morning and I put on 1.5 kg during the holiday which is not too bad. Back on it now, I'm using 0.6+5 clicks at the moment to get back into it.
i have previously done intermittent fasting which worked really well for me - covid lockdowns were my undoing. And now im post-menopausal so I wanted to try saxenda to assist me in getting back to the intermittent fasting approach.

Hi Akite - can I ask if you are still taking it or have you stopped?

AgathaMystery · 06/08/2022 20:10

@Harridan1981 yes absolutely awful. Cannot believe I’ve vie en them my money. I’ve just had a message to say it’s ready so I’ll pick it up tomorrow. I need to start ASAP as my blood pressure is insane.

Cantonet · 06/08/2022 20:25

I've just ordered from Boots & it took a couple of days. But I didn't realise you have to add your advantage card to gain the points before checking out. As I've already linked it on the app I thought that was sufficient. So I'm retrospectively adding them.
I'm on the second week & I've lost nearly 4 pounds over the first week. Now this 1.2 dose is really affecting my appetite. I've eaten half the amount I normally do today. I'm also finding my energy levels are much higher on Saxenda. So I'm actually exercising instead of being all lethargic 😊

Moderatelyobese · 07/08/2022 11:56

I overdid it with rich food last night and really
paid the price. Up in the night, vomiting and feeling really weird - I thought at first I was having some sort of allergic reaction. Feeling fine now, and I’ve upped the dose for the first
time. Desperately hoping the side effects don’t ramp up.

Moderatelyobese · 07/08/2022 11:56

How’s everyone else getting on?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/08/2022 13:16

I've lost half a stone in 3 and a half weeks. I've stayed on 0.6 as it's curbing my appetite effectively and allowing me to comfortably stay at about 1200/1300 calories a day without really feeling hungry. I mean I do feel hungry sometimes but not in the all encompassing way I'm used to - the sort that leads to terrible food choices. Now I'm happy to have an apple!

I'm not doing a huge amount of exercise so I'm happy that it's steadily coming off as now I'm 52 I'm very aware I can't drop weight like I used to be able to in my 29s and 30s. My stomach is shrinking a bit ( the menopausal under boob shelf bit has definitely gone down) and clothes are looser and rings have started spinning round on my fingers.

Just ordered a couple more pens, as I'm not out of the woods by any means in terms of setting myself new habits but so far I'm happy tootling along slowly. Still a long way to go but for once I'm reasonably confident I can do it.

DH is also on board with our new healthy eating regime as he could drop a stone or so and has high cholesterol so it's a win all round really!

AgathaMystery · 07/08/2022 20:34

Just done my first dose. I didn’t count to 6 so doubt I got the full dose. Agh.

Got a very very busy week so will be very careful about what I eat as definitely don’t want side effects!!

injection site is surprisingly sore.

takemetomars · 07/08/2022 21:00

Is anyone having issues with feeling very very low in mood? It's the one thing that is difficult to deal with s/effects wise

Hi - can I ask how many pens you have used so far? And how much you want to lose? Thank you

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/08/2022 21:59

@amarante I'm still on my first pen - should last 4 weeks at 0.6
I have noticed a bit more hunger creeping in this past week, so I might up by a couple of clicks and see if that helps.

I've got about 4 stone in total to lose and have given myself a year to get there. Slow and steady wins the race and all that!

stilldumdedumming · 08/08/2022 06:36

@takemetomars is that a side effect? I'm extremely low and tearful. Feeling a bit like there's no point. I have a lot going on. Contemplating separation (again) from my dp whom I love, so thought it was that.

Yes it is. I haven't seen anyone else mention it so thought I would post here. I feel just as you describe! It's rapidly becoming a problem. I recently injured my ankle and can't exercise or walk the dogs so I think it's multifaceted. I don't want to stop saxenda but I may have to consider it

AgathaMystery · 08/08/2022 10:33

I’m on day 1, took 1st dose last night. Not sure if it’s placebo effect (& frankly don’t care) but I’m not hungry. It’s weird.

AgathaMystery · 09/08/2022 11:51

2 doses in and I’ve lost a startling amount of weight (for me) 2.5kg - I am drinking lots of squash as well as don’t want to become constipated.

Moderatelyobese · 09/08/2022 13:54

What I want to know is, does it only work because you feel so queasy you don’t want to eat? Reminds me of being pregnant.

AgathaMystery · 09/08/2022 14:26

I haven’t felt unwell at all.

I had hyperemesis in pregnancy so couldn’t tolerate feeling nauseated if I’m honest. I know some women can.

I felt a bit weird last night but I just ate a normal portion. It was too much. Today I had brunch - half a bagel and two very small scrambled eggs. That was 11am. I’m still full. I’d normally want a snack now.

i can’t describe it. It’s like I’m just full but I’ve no hankering for food.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 10/08/2022 05:26

A couple of times I've gone out for dinner and eaten a couple of courses. Ate it all, no problem. Was bloody lovely. No diarrhoea, stomach ache, sickness. Wine too.

Back to 1200 calories the next day without any problems- hasn't made me hanker after "more food" at all. It's not that I don't get hungry, it's more that Saxenda quietens the constant underlying thought process about food.

I still think about food A LOT. It's hard to explain. But now I recognise that I'm thinking "Hmmm. Bit peckish. Should I have an apple or an orange?" Whereas prior to Sax I would have just done a ram raid on Greggs with my mouth open.

stilldumdedumming · 10/08/2022 07:47

@LadyOfTheCanyon sums it up perfectly! I have not felt sick. I have felt detached from the craving. Like I automatically think of food when I'm stressed but then I don't actually want it. So I don't bother.
