I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

Morning not caught up with thread I'm away in Spain and decided not to bring it with me. I'm 8 days off and I've definitely not craved more food.
Yesterday I had
2 slices of bimbo toast no butter
Prawns, calamari and Serrano with a bread roll
Serrano and melon, Paella (small portion) and ice cream
Probably 1/2 a bottle of wine and two beers

So obviously not great but no picking in between (absolutely unheard of for me before sax)

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 10/08/2022 23:02

Hi @troppibambini6 , ‘Hope you’re having a good time! That’s interesting to know. I’m going shortly and didn’t want the change in diet to bring on unwanted side effects. Have you been on it long?

AgathaMystery · 10/08/2022 23:41

I am away too but took it with me as I need the consistence to keep me focused. I am being weirdly disciplined. Day 4 & I’d have fallen off the wagon by now usually.

Madferitchick · 11/08/2022 07:31

So, I did 9 days on holiday and didn't take the Sax with me. I wasn't having huge effects from taking it pre-holiday...but having reached 1.8 it had just started to kick in and I was getting full quicker and less obsessed with food.
After one day of not taking it, I lost all effects. However, I worked hard to be sensible whilst not completely depriving myself - so the odd ice cream or glass of sangria, but lots of salads and fruit etc. And in those 9 days I put on 11lb Sad very frustrating!! I have now been back home the same amount of time I was away and have been ramping up my dose quickly so I'm currently on 1.2+6 and have lost 8lb of what I gained. I do tend to lose/gain quickly in the early days or any "diet" however I am trying not to treat this like a diet and eat everything in moderation as typically the extreme gains and losses in the past have come from extreme dieting/binging. Perhaps it's just a pattern my body is too used to.
Anyway, Hoping over the next week to get rid of the remaining gain and then I can have a clear run at 1.8 or above if needed to hopefully feel some positive effects from taking it.

Moderatelyobese · 11/08/2022 11:59

I haven’t weighed myself recently but I tried on some dresses this morning that were unwearably snug a couple of weeks ago. They’re positively baggy around the middle now.

troppibambini6 · 11/08/2022 12:42

@Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent I'd been taking it for a couple of months it was working well they only side effects if had were mild nausea.
I've had no sickness or diarrhoea when starting or while I've been away.
I could over eat if I chose to, but to be honest it's ridiculously hot (I'm like a lizard normally but even this is beating me Wink) that all I want is cold stuff.

Watching with interest OP. I'm currently on Orlistat, which quite frankly isn't really working at all.

Saxenda is something I want to try but my GP said I didn't meet the criteria. Not sure what that criteria is - I have a BMI of 40 and comorbidities.

Sounds like your first day went very well, good luck.

Back again with an update. I stopped taking Orlistat 6 weeks ago as the side effects were horrendous - no weight loss beyond 3lb. Probably because I was so bloated and constipated!

I am currently on day 3 of Saxenda and feeling good. No side effects apart from feeling queasy if I get hungry/blood sugar drops. No grumbling stomach, no feeling hungry 30 minutes after eating. I've got a complete disinterest in food - my appetite has dropped to what I would think of as 'normal'.

Not following any calorie counting at the moment but as I've got no cravings for anything anymore I'll play it by ear.

I went through Boots in the end which was very straightforward. There was a small issue with the needles in that the ones they prescribed were out of stock until March 2024, so I had to wait for a replacement for these.

Cantonet · 12/08/2022 10:41

I'm now 3 kg down two weeks in & definitely looking a lot less bloated.
The last day or two I've been feeling tired & headachey, so I'm going to stay on the same dose for another day or two. I'm also getting low blood sugar in the morning & evening so I have to make sure I'm eating regularly. I'm eating very few carbs, but healthy fats, so that's probably the cause of the low blood sugar.

ZestyDragon · 12/08/2022 17:31

Joining the thread as been a bit of a lurker whilst I decided what to do. I am on day 4 and doing well. The big thing for me is the noise in my head that demands food is gone. It feels quite strange but I am delighted. I have a long way to go. I am 20st 4 starting.

I've felt a bit headachy at times and a little nauseous in the mornings first thing but fine apart from that. I seem to easily stat at approx 1200 calories a day.

BackT · 13/08/2022 05:49

Hi all.
I'm about to finish my 5th pen and I've lost a stone. It's not loads but I'm happy with it.

Where is the current cheapest place to get the pens? I've exhausted my boots voucher options already.

Thanks!

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 13/08/2022 06:57

Morning, I got three pens from Asda for about £150, fwiw. That will work out about £15 a week when I’ve finished them. The service was good and I got a little purse, although that may come as standard. What was the Boots offer?

BackT · 13/08/2022 12:09

Thank you. I haven't tried Asda yet.

The boots offer is using the code WELCOME20 which is meant to be for new customers to the doctor online service. So it makes us £120 for 3 pens.

I actually just managed to use it again so fingers crossed!

The cost is killing me but it's working so I'm desperate to continue. I've got another stone to lose (at least!)

Hello - how long have you been on it? I am pondering buying it too. Need to lose a stone.

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 13/08/2022 17:36

@amarante , from your comments upthread (30/07) I doubt you’ll get a prescription.

AgathaMystery · 15/08/2022 14:28

Day 8 & side effects have hit. I feel terribly nauseated (haven’t upped dose, inject in thigh and do it at night), constipated too. Yuck.

Went away for the weekend and lost half a kilo so that’s okay. Total weight loss over 7 days is 3kg or 2.82% of my body weight. Not stunning but not bad. Hoping for more this coming week.

NoMoreCoffeePlease · 15/08/2022 14:52

Did you up your dose @AgathaMystery ? You think your nausea is related to that?

I'm on Day 2 and I can't say I notice anything yet. I'm eating less, but hard to say whether that's the Saxenda kicking in or just my own motivation. I do still get hungry inbetween meals.

KrankySchwester · 15/08/2022 16:24

That’s week 3 finished and I’m down 15lbs. I can zip my coat up without struggling which considering today’s rain is rather useful.
still on 0.6 (& 5 clicks)

No I didn’t up it as I was starting to feel a bit grim. Today will be 9th dose on 0.6

ZestyDragon · 15/08/2022 19:59

One week in and I have lost 7lbs which is amazing. I moved up two clicks on the pen from 0.6 so lets see how that goes. I would rather not have to go too high given the cost of the damn thing!

I am still getting a mildish headache everyday but its not awful. I realised Saturday that I hadn't been to the loo for a few days so took some Senakot......that ended badly yesterday 😳

Harridan1981 · 15/08/2022 22:40

I've just moved up to 1.2. I haven't weighed myself for a bit but I don't have much appetite so 🤞

No real side effects as yet either.

Moderatelyobese · 15/08/2022 23:24

I went up to 1.8 today from 1.2 and have felt pretty queasy. I’ll see how I get on tomorrow but might go back down to 1.2 again if it doesn’t improve.

stilldumdedumming · 15/08/2022 23:32

@takemetomars - just wondering how you're doing? I continue to feel quite low. But I'm persevering mainly because being so big also makes me low. I've lost 22 lbs. another 4,25 stone to go!

NoMoreCoffeePlease · 16/08/2022 08:47

How do you decide whether to stay on 0.6 or up the dose like the recommendation?

I've lost 4.4lbs/2kg in 2 days which undoubtedly is 'water weight' but it's promising. I need to make a conscious effort to eat enough -- I struggle to finish a meal, just feel halfway like I've had enough. Lost all appetite for big meals, alcohol and fatty foods.

drinkallthecoffee · 16/08/2022 08:49

Thought I'd drop in again as it's been a while.

I'm still gazing Saxenda but don't feel as excited about it as before. It's just kind of something I do but I don't know if it's making a difference. Not had any significant weight loss. I did start again after I bought the second batch so feel like the first lot was all for nothing which is a shame.
I'm going up slowly, 2 clicks at a time so I'm on 0.6+4 now.

One thing I have noticed is my portion sizes are significantly smaller. I suppose my appetite has decreased a little, but I'm still managing to eat some not so healthy food, which the first time round I completely wasn't interested in. I think it was a physcological thing.

Then again thinking about it I guess I don't buy so much chocolate anymore at all.

Sorry for the ramble. I keep thinking how much smaller I could be now if I'd kept it going properly since the first time around :(

stilldumdedumming · 16/08/2022 10:59

@NoMoreCoffeePlease (I thoroughly disagree with your username by the way! I am sure coffee is a spiritual practice!). I think go by how you feel. I stayed on 0.6 for ages but my body was obviously adapting as it was getting less effective and so I moved up by a few clicked at a time.

Week 9 and on 1.2. I'm occasionally hungry but still losing fairly consistently.
