Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

@ElvenDreamer poor you. Sorry to read you're having a tough time. I do hope there's some light at the end of the tunnel for you 😞

You're right in that having a nice environment can help - not with any issues but definitely with keeping your mind a bit calmed. Hope things start to pick up soon

@Sparker201 I could have written your post about myself, I seem to only be good for 4-5 days and then have a binge and feel awful about it. Just have to keep trying to change that mindset.

I am back in the circle today after 3 days of birthday eating, haven't been as mindful as I would have liked and gained about 4 pounds this morning, hopeful a lot of this is water weight 🤞🏻

@ElvenDreamer good luck with your reset today and I hope this is the start of a better week for you.

Good luck @HardRockOwl and everyone else weighing in today.

HardRockOwl · 02/05/2022 08:30

@Grytviken that little gain will be gone within a week of being 'back in the circle.'

The only thing that breaks weekend 'falling off wagon' eating is getting a few weekends under my belt of being 'on plan and focussed'

But that's so so difficult and more luck with me I've found

Week 5 weigh in ... I've lost another lb! I'm pleased with that as was expecting to stay the same

Week 1 - 7 lbs

Week 2 - 3 lbs

Week 3 - 2 lbs

Week 4 - 2 lbs

Week 5 - 1 lb

Total loss to date ... 15 lbs

I think that's quite good in 5 weeks.

This week I will refocus and actually start eating proper meals in the evening. I'm just not doing that as rarely actually fancy anything but I will try this week

Good luck to all those weighing today!

Well done @HardRockOwl!

I'm a daily weigh-er so I've been struggling with the fluctuations but now I've done 2 weeks my weekly average losses are:

Week 1: 3lb
Week 2: 2.5lb

Which I'm pretty pleased with!

Hobbes8 · 02/05/2022 08:56

Week 1 weight in and I’ve lost…..4lb.

I’m a little disappointed to be honest. That sort of loss would be awesome on a long term basis but I thought I’d lose more week 1.

Never mind. I’m going out for lunch today and must stay strong! It’s an area with loads of chain restaurants so I’m googling Nando’s/zizzi’s/Pizza Express menus for the salad options. This does not come naturally.

Hobbes8 · 02/05/2022 08:57

Well done @HardRockOwl and @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy! I don’t know why those losses look more impressive when someone else has achieved them….hmm.

keiratwiceknightly · 02/05/2022 08:58

That's brilliant progress HRC!

I've had a couple of days of eating and drinking more or less whatever I wanted but also been active - an hour of badminton on Friday night and then a 9 mile hike up hill and down dale yesterday. We do a version of this every year this weekend - it's an organised event raising money for Air Ambulance and you can pick from various distances. Think they usually raise about 30k.

So back on it today. Will weigh in tomorrow and see the damage but then right back on the circle.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 02/05/2022 08:59

@Grytviken

The best thing I read in one of her books about binge eating was comparing it to sunburn. She said if you got sunburned you'd be briefly pissed off at your lack of self care - but you'd then be super protective of yourself for a few days. You'd definitely not think fuck it and get back in the sun!

This analogy has helped me so much - I hope it helps you too

This made me LOL! I really relate to that! 4lb is excellent in a week! To lose that and not be hungry or deprived is amazing!!

We could all lose LOADS by following more extreme methods (I know, I've done them all Blush) but this is about finding a new forever lifestyle not rapid weight loss.

Hobbes8 · 02/05/2022 09:24

Thanks for the pep talk @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy! You’re totally right of course.

Making banana pancakes (the proper LP recipe this time). Did anyone else find the batter a bit sticky? I’m having to use more oil than usual which doesn’t feel very Lean for Lifesque.

This captured how I'm feeling too... I've also lost 4lb week 1 (it's weigh in day) .. And it feels like someone else's 4lb is 'heavier' and more impressive than my own.

I've lost a total of 6lb in 2 weeks, the first week I was on holiday so walking a LOT but also eating tapas and ice cream every day, only this week did I change my diet (though total exercise has dropped, 20000-30000 holiday steps a day is many many steps).

I've just binned my LP banana pancake mix as nothing would make them cook on the inside. I tried all different sizes of frying pans and batter thickness and even using my waffle maker. A disappointing sludge!

Sparker201 · 02/05/2022 10:55

Well done to everyone on your losses! Thanks for the encouragement @Grytviken, I am sure that 4lb will be water weight for you.

Re-starting today at 15st exactly - I am 5’8”, and am looking to get to 11-ish stone. A big milestone would be to drop into the 13 stone bracket as I have been losing and regaining the same stone for about 4 years now😁

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 02/05/2022 11:35

Menu today:

B: Greek yoghurt with nuts seeds berries

S: oatcakes with PNB & pumpkin seeds

L: baked portobello mushrooms with Boursin and salad

S: red berry smoothie

D: LP Moroccan roast lamb with butter bean purée. It's in the slow cooker now and smells amazing

I've made smoothies for all of my dc this morning and they love them too - they have no idea that they're healthy either!

Moanranger · 02/05/2022 12:44

Hi all,
After two weeks, I have lost around 4lbs (I am weighing in kilos) Although this is slow, if it is steady, I am happy with this. The notable thing about LP methods is I am very satisfied ( and in fact find it difficult to finish some meals) have knocked late night eating on the head (a particular problem of mine) and am sticking to two LP snacks a day. This is probably the only regime where I don’t feel deprived!
Elven D Ditto the salad, and I have made the choc almonds - very nice but easy to overdose, so watch portions!
Someone asked about easy lunch options I am ATM making the leek-broccoli-butterbean soup. Very tasty & filling & a good work option if you have a microwave. You can always carry a little pot of garnish & make a nice presentation. I often take china, tableware in a bag to work so that I can have a proper lunch, not just scarfing whilst hunched over a PC!
To keep cost down, I skip the saffron in the recipe-you can’t taste it anyway, and I cook it a lot longer than she advises so it blends better.
I have found the sous-chef aspect of LP a bit daunting, tho I am getting into the swing of it. I bought a little mini-chopper from Asda, which speeds up the herb chopping considerably.
My LP 6 week plan book has arrived, so I think I will start that when DP is away for 10 days starting next week.
Speaking of DP, he is generally sharing my meals with a top up of rice or potatoes. He shared the lentil-broccoli-goats cheese salad, although he enjoyed it, he was a bit🤔as it is much different to his usual pizza, crisps, cereal bar routine.

clpsmum · 02/05/2022 13:32

Could somebody tell me the recipe for chocolate almonds please

chloechloe · 02/05/2022 14:48

Well done on your losses @HardRockOwl @Hobbes8 and @Throwawaytoday

My progress for Week 1:

3.5 lbs down (or a measly 700g if weighing in kilos!). The tape measure hasn’t budged but I do look a little slimmer and my jeans feel more comfy. I ate pretty much on plan all week and did 5 x 30 min Workouts so am pleased with that.

DH wanted a takeaway curry last night so we skipped the naan, popadoms and samosas we normally get. I then left out the rice and had aubergine curry and chickpea curry. So probably on plan except for the portion size!

I’ve done a big fruit and veg shop today so will try and do some meal prep.

Sorry to hear the pancakes didn’t work out @Hobbes8 . Mine were quite nice. I did weigh the banana though (very sad) as I’m always mistrustful of recipes that list fruit and veg by number rather than weight.

Im feeling very positive about this plan as I genuinely think it’s something you can sustain long term once you’re allowed to have the odd potato and croissant again! It’s only week 1 though so let’s see what the next few weeks bring!

GloryLory · 02/05/2022 15:18

Hi @ all

I am so excited to see this thread! I hope it's not too late to join?
I have read some of your posts but of course not all, so please forgive me if i'm missing something.

I have been doing LPM 2 years ago which worked brilliantly for me, but the lifestyle phase was more a back-to-before-phase for me because of a lot of stress.
Last year around this time i started again but struggled too muchwith food obsession...
Now after passing my exams I have much more time to spend on myself rather than on learning and I also gained a few kilos. Aint gonna fit in mini skirts and skinny jeans.

I started 1 or 2 weeks ago, I am mostly cooking LPM meals but I dont do it 100% strictly atm.
I am trying to get the other pillars done too: Sleeping, Relaxing, Steps, Exercise Routines - which really works well this time.
I am doing Zumba and Hot iron and HIIT atm home (all once per week).
my current weight is 63,7 kg - goal is roughly 58 kg.

HardRockOwl · 02/05/2022 15:44

@Hobbes8 come on woman! That's a great first week loss! I know what you mean though... if anyone else told me they'd lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks I'd be impressed. When it's myself, I think 'hmm, bit slow that!'

But it's not. It's a similar loss to what you'd get on a meal replacement plan - they say you can expect to drop a stone a month on their 600-800 calories a day so I think we have to be happy with what we are achieving

It is clear that this plan works really well IF you stick to it. And that's the hard bit 😀

One of my issues is that I'm a complete binge eater. Not in a way where I'll lock myself away with a box of cereal and three loaves of bread but where I just like the taste of sweet food so I'll think nothing of eating whole bags of sweets and whole boxes of chocolates etc - and then I feel I need savoury food like cheese to address this imbalance - and then I'll need more chocolate and so on. I also don't mind feeling really full - so I think all things considered, I'm just a glutton!

So I'm working on eventually being able to adopt this way of eating 80% of the time. Another hard thing!

@HardRockOwl thank you, I am really glad to this nice thread and i missed @ElvenDreamer so thanks for welcoming me here.

What really bothers me this LPM round are the 5 meals/day- so much prepping and the portion size is often too small so I am hungry all day long.
So i mostly have a bit bigger portion at the main meals and only have 1 snack in the afternoon.

Today this is my meal plan

  • Mango Quark breakfast (own recipe, sticks to Louise principles)

  • oven roasted vegetables with spiced cottage cheese (yummy!)

  • peanut butter rasperry smoothie

  • lovely lentil bake (great to batch and warm up)
