But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Could I join this thread?

Did Louise P some years ago and there's no doubt it works well if you can be bothered to stick with it. And it's certainly healthy. I need to lose a stone or so - just tipped into overweight range and I'm 49 so that's going to sort itself out, sadly. Some inspiring losses on this thread too - def helpful for my motivation!

Going shopping today so it's all the fruit/cheese/Greek yog. I'm off work till Monday so that's a tricky one as it means I've lots of grazing time. Better be oatcakes then!

bonfireheart · 19/04/2022 14:19

I don't drink wine for religious reasons, does anyone know how I can adapt this LG recipe please.

Wrap 100g salmon fillet in a foil parcel, adding ¼ cup of peas, 4 baby courgettes
sliced, 1 cup of mange tout and 6 cherry tomatoes. Add 1 capful of good dry white
wine and 1 capful of vegetable stock and pepper. Bake until tender and serve with
½ large bag of wilted spinach or kale.

HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 14:22

Hi @keiratwiceknightly - welcome to the thread. How did you get on with doing it before? And I agree - I feel confident it works but you do need to stick to the principles

@bonfireheart I think I'd just leave the wine out. Doesn't it mainly evaporate off in cooking? It sounds like quite a flavourful dish anyway so I'm sure the absence of the alcohol won't make a difference

Thank you @HardRockOwl, am going to start properly after half term as DD likes too many treats!

Moanranger · 19/04/2022 15:11

Good afternoon all,
I finished my first week, and have lost 1kilo = 2.2 lbs. I am a little disappointed, but for three weeks previously to LP, I was calorie counting with a goal of 1600 per day. So a 400 per day reduction is not a huge step change. I do feel thinner around my middle, so hopefully this is more fat loss than water loss.
Some NSV, tho. I am generally not hungry. Meals are filling & flavourful. My eating pattern has changed, instead of grazing pre- & post dinner, I have a snack at 5, dinner 7:30 or so and a final snack around 9. Also sleeping well.
I am a bit concerned about the next 10 days. I have lots of outings needing me to be prepared (sorry LP, but I WILL be eating out of Tupperware!) At least Easter was quiet & gave me the headspace to get to grips with the programme.
Well done HRO on your losses. I am with you re Diet Coke. I have one per day, just to give me a lift, usually in the afternoon.
And a big Welcome! to all the newbies. Sharpen your vegetable knives!

HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 18:31

@Moanranger a loss is a loss! Am I right in thinking you don't have a lot to lose?

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 18:34

Food times for today ..

Bircher with raspberries

Green smoothie made with oat bran + oat milk

Wholemeal roll with plant kitchen bacon, sliced tomatoes + mushrooms

3 x oat cakes, almond butter .+ 2 strawberries

Just didn't fancy anything for dinner. Nothing was shouting to me and I just don't feel very hungry

So I had a tablespoon of peanut butter with apple slices

OP posts:
Grytviken · 19/04/2022 19:35

@Moanranger I also think 2.2 pounds is a good loss, it all adds up, I'm also failing on eating beautifully from a perfectly laid table, more eating Bircher from a plastic tub.

Todays food

Bircher with berries (quite liking the Bircher)
Smokey beans w slice wholemeal bread
Boiled egg
Roasted chicken breast, Brussels sprouts and peppers, with a tiny pit of pesto and feta
If I'm feeling hungry before bed I'll have some oatcakes and almond butter as my second snack.

HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 19:57

Ha talking about the 'eating beautifully' , I was in a farm shop today and they had the most adorable plates and bowls etc .. think they were a royal doulton range. White China with beautiful hedgerow animals etc on them.

It crossed my mind to but then and then I gave myself a shake and remembered I have perfectly nice plates etc

But now I just want to go back and get myself a set!

HRO Unfortunately I have 2-3 stone to lose, even that puts me in overweight category BMI-wise. My basal metabolism has always been about 1400 cals, so 1200 is just a bit below it, so weight loss is slow.
I only drop weight quickly on extreme VLCDs, which I have no desire to do.
Although I am pretty active, my weight is limiting, the more I can lose, the more active I can get. See where 42 days gets meGrin

Lostmyunicorn · 19/04/2022 20:15

Today I have had oat bran bircher with strawberries and raspberries, frittata with some salad and I have a green bean stew waiting for me for dinner (sounds revolting I know but it’s lovely, you need Turkish flat green beans not the English pencil shaped ones). I had a few pistachios and a carrot for snacks. I haven’t drunk enough water today, I always struggle with that, but I’m feeling ok.

keiratwiceknightly · 19/04/2022 20:18

I've done LP once before about 5 years ago. Lost about 10lbs in 6 weeks then fell off the wagon. For me it's all about staying off sugar - when I'm in the zone it's fine but it can so easily go wrong.

Good start today - Berry smoothie for breakfast, snacks were oatcakes and cashew nut butter (peanut allergy!) plus apple and almonds, cheesy grilled mushrooms plus raspberries and Greek yoghurt for dinner. Kitchen is CLOSED now.

HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 20:21

@Moanranger yeah I've been there with the VLCD. I lost nearly 4 stone and got down to 8 stone something and thought I looked amazing. I didn't / I looked like I had a giant head in a little body. I also lost some hair and was covered in bruises so don't think I've got the heart for it now.

Louise says in one of her books about knowing when to stop - and that it's just as easy to maintain a size 8 body as it is a size 14. Due then days in another book it's just as easy to maintain a size 10 body as a size 14 ... so maybe it'll be a size 6 in the next book? Grin

She says not to hop off the train too early and to only stop when you have a body you're thrilled with ..whilst I understand that sentiment, I fear size 8 is possibly a bridge too far for me! I'm size 14 now, sometimes a 12 if it's very generous. I think I'd like to be a TRUE size 10 or 12. So I've decided to do as she also says and be ambitious ... so that's another 28 lbs to go for me.

@keiratwiceknightly cheesy mushrooms are going in my menu for tomorrow I think! Thanks for the inspiration.

That was a really good loss before! At least you know it works and fingers crossed you can do it again

Sorry for typos in previous posts. I can't type without my acrylics in for some reason and I'm without them today!

@Lostmyunicorn I struggle with the water too but bought some lovely things from Waterdrop including a bottle and lots of different flavour micro drops and that encourages me a bit. I also find that carbonating my water helps a bit too and then adding a flavour

Toomuch2019 · 19/04/2022 21:45

Some great menu inspiration-love the sound of the cheesy mushrooms

First proper day for me today which consisted of

B-vanilla bircher with strawberries
S-apple and almonds
L-salad with chicken and egg
S-pear and pistachios
D-seasoned chicken breast and salad (out for dinner)

Hardest thing seems to be snacks for when I'm
out at work-so many of the snacks seem like things better sorted at home such as spreads on something. Any snack inspiration appreciated!

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 19/04/2022 22:26

@Toomuch2019 my work snacks are:

Babybel & 10 grapes
Oatcake PNB sandwich
Ryvita PNB sandwich
Tupperware of yoghurt & fruit (sorry Louise!)

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 19/04/2022 22:29

Meals prepped for tomorrow:

B: yoghurt, nuts, seeds, blueberries
S: Ryvita, cashew nut butter and strawberries
L: falafels and hummus
S: yoghurt with cinnamon and orange (one of her recipes - looks errr interesting!)
D: salmon baked with roule cheese and pesto on a pile of green veg

HardRockOwl · 19/04/2022 23:00

@Toomuch2019 my go to snacks have been ..

Mixed nuts
Chocolate dusted almonds
Oatcakes with cashew butter
Apple slices with peanut butter
Fruit
Pot of hummus with carrot sticks

Gaaah!!! Also weirded out by new settings!

I got totally waylaid from the plan by a spontaneous family thing on Monday. There was wine and pavlova and lots of other delicious things…. Yesterday I did a bit better but then one of my beautiful children shared a bit of Easter egg with me… and there was a bit of wine left that I tidied up…. You lot are inspirational though and I promise, hand on heart, I’m back on the wagon, in the circle, on plan today 😇

Sutra · 20/04/2022 08:25

@Toomuch2019 my work snacks:

Apple and cheese
A dollop of hummus in a Tupperware (sorry Louise!) and some carrot sticks
A handful of almonds and 2 satsumas
2 oatcakes and some sugar free salt free peanut butter

HardRockOwl · 20/04/2022 09:13

@Sutra I absolutely love Pavlova! And yes - Hop back into the circle now. You can do it

HardRockOwl · 20/04/2022 09:16

Just having breakfast. Made a smoothie consisting of oat milk, frozen berries, tablespoon of oat milk, GOOD vanilla paste, peanut butter and oat bran. Added a little stevia and it's delicious.

Did a sneaky weigh in, only because today was my actual start date 3 weeks ago. And I'm 13 lbs down so I'm really hopeful for my first stone off next week!

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..
