But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Oooh I just googled it. May give it a go myself Smile got a holiday in 3 months need to lose some pounds stones!

HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 09:06

@Lifegetsintheway3 looks good doesn't it?

Well I'm starting today and am about to eat breakfast!

2 tablespoons of oat bran & oats
Juice of a large orange
Greek yogurt
Chia seeds

Topped with a nectarine

Lunch will be a small whole meal roll with lettuce, tomato and Plant Kitchen bacon which is an adaption on one of her recipes

I've roasted some almonds and then tossed in dark cocoa powder and stored them and also some 'seedy strawbs, although I've replaced the dehydrated strawberries with dried cranberries. Both 'recipes' from the snack selection in her cookbook

Ooh, can I join please, I have her books and been meaning to kickstart myself again. I had a lot of success with it previously and some little habits genuinely became habits but I never really moved into the lifestyle phase properly.

Lifegetsintheway3 · 30/03/2022 09:53

I will do some more research then will join, can anyone sum it up? No processed food, no sugar and whole foods...is there a list of things that are acceptable to eat. A meal plan ect?

HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 10:13

@ElvenDreamer welcome welcome. I too have had the books a while and the time has come for me to actually DO something if I want to not be in a tent for summer. 2 stone ish to lose

My usual day starts well with something healthy and I have all good intentions. I swim for 40 mins every day and I then feel all virtuous.

By 3pm I'm usually knee deep in Percy pigs, flapjack, cheese rolls , crisps etc

But not today!!!! Gotta start sometime eh?

@Lifegetsintheway3 yes that's about it. Louise is credited for keeping Kate Middleton as trim as she is so if it's good enough for Kate Grin

No, she's quite 'posh' with an office in 'South Ken' and to do her plan one to one is £1800 for (I believe) 12 weeks. So books it is then!

It's not stupidly restrictive either and it's all stuff I like - once I've tweaked the salmon and chicken recipes! So think porridges, birchers, fruit, nice salads, halloumi , snacks like flavoured nuts or nut butters, plenty of roasted veg, chicken and fish.

3 meals a day, 2 snacks a day
You do a 'Transform phase' for 6 weeks and then move on. So I'd like to set my target 🎯 of 16lbs off in this 6 weeks. I think that's ambitious but doable. I mean, I've been caning half a block of cheese with kettle chips followed by 4 flapjacks for god knows how long , so stopping that alone should see a dramatic loss!

I use nutricheck to calorie count because I'll always try and give myself a bigger portion so I need that control but there's no counting anything - just sensible portions

I also need to step away from processed food for a while, or at least really limit it, so I'm hoping it'll help me feel a bit healthier

I did this to lose baby weight and it worked brilliantly. I was never hungry and the food is really tasty too. I did have to be quite organised about the food preparation though and it also worked out more expensive than my normal diet.

HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 12:06

@OnLockdown so you saw some good results did you? It's a rather odd diet because it's not pertaining to be low carb (although they're lowered of course), no calorie counting and it's not keto - did you find the portions smaller?

And yep - it's not cheap, especially initially when I find myself buying za'tar, vanilla paste and Christ all sorts!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 12:08

And yes, prep seems vital. Easy - ish for me as I work from home but I'd not totally decided what I was going to do for dinner and now I've decided it's going to be the halloumi tabbouleh, I need fresh herbs, pomegranate seeds and mint leaves!

I lost 3/4 of a stone in 3 weeks last time I did it, then was stable for a good year after, it's crept up a bit since then, some serious stress/emotional eating has gone on! I got quite good at modifying other (cheaper!) re copies to fit with the method too. @Lifegetsintheway3 I bought the books cheaply off ebay, there are 3 but tbh all 3 explain the method fully so 1 works fine, 3 just gave me more recipes.
Well today has started ok, egg + avocado on wholegrain plus the lemon water, just had a salad with plenty of seeds etc in for lunch. Steps looking good as I walked the morning school run (about 2.5miles in total), here's to a new start!

I lost 10 kilos in 3 months. I didn't do any exercise except a lot of walking with my baby in the pram. I didn't find the portions small. Some of them are actually quite substantial like the 3 bean salad.

Some of the more exotic ingredients were hard to come by where I am, so I either left them out or improvised. I tended to stick to the same recipes a lot of the time though because I found some were too complicated time/ingredients wise.

OnLockdown · 30/03/2022 14:48

Oh I forgot to say that I started at 72 kilos and I was only aiming for 10kilos loss.

AntoinetteCosway · 30/03/2022 16:42

Can I join? There was another thread and I killed it Blush I'm in week 3. Not doing the exercises as frankly I'm too fat! But walking loads. I'm finding the food quite easy - I really like NOT having to calorie count. I'm maybe odd in that I really don't want to weight myself (that way obsession lies for me), so am just going by how I feel.

ElvenDreamer · 30/03/2022 19:36

@AntoinetteCosway I agree with you on the not weighing, for me if I'm healthier, fitter, and feel a bit more toned, I don't really care on the numbers so much, muscle weighs more anyway so just weight is a false indicator. I don't follow the exercises slavishly, I worked put long ago that if I enjoy it I'll do it, so if I'm in the mood for a work out style thing I'll go for it, but if I want to run, or dance, or go for a long walk or whatever instead then that's what I'll do.

HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 19:45

@AntoinetteCosway very welcome to join us! What's the secret to not weighing? I'd like to know Grin

I'm leaping on and off the scales twice a day and it's annoying but can't help myself.

Well I made the tabbouleh for dinner and it was very nice. However, as I stood there, de-skinning chickpeas, I didn't wonder if life was too short

Pic attached - it's basically fresh mint, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, tomatoes, chickpeas and pomegranate seeds topped with zaatar coated halloumi

Would have been absolutely 10/10 with a side of fries 🍟

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

I'm going to prep my Bircher for tomorrow in a bit.

2 tablespoons oats/oat bran
Fresh orange juice mixed in
Few chia seeds
Greek yogurt - about 200g

Stir and in fridge. Then top with probably strawberries in the morning.

I should probably prep 4 portions actually! Maybe I will

As for exercise, I just swim every day. Lucky enough to have access to a private pool 1 mile down the road. I know I should do more but I tell myself at least it's something?

I also bought the Dr Megan Rossi book which looks compatible

My top tip for anyone who wants the Louise books and hasn't got them yet is Vinted. I got the cookbook for £3. And the other books from sellers on Amazon for £1.80 and £4. So it's worth keeping an eye out

Morning!

Starting the day with orange juice Bircher topped with strawberries. And then I need to think about prepping the rest of the day!

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 31/03/2022 09:21

Morning, set myself up by walking the kids to school then jogging home, about to have yogurt with fruit and bran for breakfast. Have a shopping order coming today and have made sure to stock up on oatcakes, almonds etc! On a mission to make sure I drink enough water today too.

HardRockOwl · 31/03/2022 09:39

@ElvenDreamer I don't like water much so always force myself to drink it. I bought a lovely jug and have filled it for the day. It holds a good 1.5 litres so that's my aim.

Ha yes oatcakes. Never really eaten one in my life before but I had a few yesterday with cashew butter as one of my snacks

I usually slavishly record calories but I decided not to yesterday so will see how that goes.

The trick to not weighing is to not own scales 😆

AntoinetteCosway · 31/03/2022 13:50

I’ve really got into the habit of prepping breakfast the night before (having never been a breakfast eating before this), but last night I forgot so this morning I had a decidedly off plan breakfast of a vegan sausage butty. Working hard to view it as a moment ‘outside of the circle’ and not the end of everything!

supertedious · 31/03/2022 13:52

Hiya, I'm on week 3 and I am loving it. I have lost 6lbs which for me, is massive!

I have tried every fad diet going and this is by far a lifestyle change.
I was a sugar addict and I have slowly managed to wean myself off it and have more energy even though I'm exercising a lot more.

ElvenDreamer · 31/03/2022 14:17

I think the real bonus to this is the no calorie counting (which just isn't sustainable long term) and the fact everything tastes good. When I'm in swing of prep it does work well. I like to choose a couple of lunch ideas and make up my lunch boxes for the week ahead where possible.

pippinsleftleg · 31/03/2022 14:25

They sound like the kind of foods I like - which book do I need? Amazon has6 week programme, lean for life and a cook book

HardRockOwl · 31/03/2022 14:46

@pippinsleftleg I have them all but like I said earlier on the thread, I picked them up for a few pounds or less from vinted and sellers on Amazon. I coped with just the cookbook one for ages so I'd go that one first tbh as the 6 week plan has all the exercises in it - i don't bother with those as I swim daily
