It really shouldn't be this hard so I'm going right back to the basics and just want to get though day 1 (attempt 98748)

KobaniDaughters · 22/03/2022 14:46

Congrats on the loss @Leftbutcameback
Jealous here too @recklessgran I can’t wait to be back in Europe so we can start exploring it again
@73kittycat73 we’re in California - moving home this summer after 10years!

Yesterday went ok. Tried to be mindful, stuck to 16:8, no snacking after dinner (was very full anyway!), picked a bit in the afternoon which wasn’t amazing. But baby steps and one day at a time!

KobaniDaughters · 23/03/2022 02:43

Another day - more picking in the afternoon but then decided I didn’t need dinner so avoided collateral damage! 16:8 again. I keep trying and failing this year to do 18:6 but actually 16:8 is easy so if I can nip afternoon snacking in the bud (maybe have a more substantial lunch) then I think this might be the way to go….

recklessgran · 23/03/2022 08:22

@KobaniDaughters I do 16:8 too and find it just about manageable. I think 18:6 would be a step too far for me ! I had a good day yesterday. Ham salad for lunch and sausages and roast veg for dinner so stayed firmly on the low carb wagon. I've been snacking on cheese though and think that really has to stop. Not sure yet about today. I've got dinner choices - more sausages, sirloin steak or crustless quiche? I'll be having tuna or tinned salmon salad for lunch today. Hope everyone is getting along O.K. - beautiful day here again.

chanceux · 23/03/2022 08:51

Morning all, another beautiful day here again, perfect for taking the dog out for a long walk.

I have been pretty good food wise, it is my second weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Yesterday I decided that I am going to drink more water, I'm not a massive fan to be honest but keep reading how it's better for weight loss. I managed four glasses, I was weeing non stop. Plan to do the same again today.

I've ordered some filters for my water jug, if the Prime person gets their act together and deliver today, I will be well away 😀

Have a good day all

chanceux · 23/03/2022 08:52

@73kittycat73 has your Fitbit turned up yet?

DuckyNotSwimming · 23/03/2022 09:05

Hi can I join too? I'm bloody miserable how I am but can't seem to get myself to put the chocolate down.

I'm currently trying to calorie count but toying with the idea of trying slimming world as that worked well about a decade ago..

chanceux · 23/03/2022 11:00

Morning @DuckyNotSwimming, glad that you are joining us. Good luck.

73kittycat73 · 23/03/2022 19:53

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and doing ok? Enjoying the nicer weather too?
Good luck for tomorrow chanceux. Smile Fitbit finally turned up yesterday. Had a moan to Amazon and they've given me a £10.00 voucher. Mind you, I earned that setting the damn thing up! lol (Wouldn't download app, went on line to find this was common. Wouldn't connect to bluetooth...Got there in the end!)
Going for an afternoon walk tomorrow in the lovely sunshine.
Dr has also prescribed oestrogen only HRT for me and I've been Googling 'and weigh loss.' (Didn't want to search, 'and weight gain.' lol) Seems like oestrogen can help increase your metabolism and help with belly fat. (That where most of my weight is.) Looking forward to trying it. :)

recklessgran · 23/03/2022 23:01

Evening all. Had a very busy day. I am on the naughty step. I made a beautiful victoria sandwich today as DD4 was coming and it's her favourite. I don't need to say any more do I? Oh well that's my only transgression of the week so far. Back to behaving myself tomorrow and everything crossed for your weigh in @chanceux. Oooh that's really interesting @73kittycat73 I really hope the HRT helps you and what a bonus if it boost your metabolism too. I'm chuckling to myself here - I'm on oestrogen blockers after my little brush with the grim reaper. I guess that combined with the underactive thyroid isn't helping the cause over here!!! Welcome to the party @DuckyNotSwimming please stay with us - we'll try our best to support you whatever you decide.

KobaniDaughters · 24/03/2022 02:41

@recklessgran well a once in a while Victoria sponge isn’t too bad - I bet it was delicious

That’s so interesting about the HRT @73kittycat73 wouldn’t it be nice if something during menopause helped us not gain weight!

Welcome @DuckyNotSwimming

An ok day today even though it was first day of my period - good job I didn’t buy wine when I went shopping though cos otherwise I’d be necking a bottle now!

Hilariously enough today ended up being 18:6 just because we had a pretty early dinner. I’m going to give myself a month before I weigh in….

ChiselandBits · 24/03/2022 07:10

morning all. Well I'm fairly sure eating spoonfulls of nutella from the jar isn't a feature of many diet plans but its been a hell of a week at work at home. Isn't it weird though that when you're having a hard time, instead of doing the thing you can control that would make you feel positive, you go the other way? Sigh - back on the horse today

RebeccaNoodles · 24/03/2022 07:20

@ChiselandBits oh dear. I get it! I do this too especially when I'm tired. ConfusedIm trying anew thing where I tell myself, Today might be a crappy day but I will have one thing go right which is that I will end in a deficit. Let's see if it works!

@recklessgran @KobaniDaughters I've been doing 16:8 and it does help, more or less I do 10 am to 6 pm as I eat my evening meal with DC. I'm out to dinner at 8.45 though so I'm not sure what to do

I'm finally just under the 11 stone mark today, down to 10 stone 13 from 11 stone 3. It's taken nearly 3 months so clearly I need to step it up a gear!!

chanceux · 24/03/2022 08:20

1.5lbs down this week.

recklessgran · 24/03/2022 08:44

Oh, well done @chanceux! That's a good step down - the equivalent of 3 packs of butter gone! [That's how I like to visualise my losses.]
@ChiselandBits don't be too hard on yourself, we just need to behave today to redeem ourselves - don't forget this is the one day at a time thread!
@KobaniDaughters and @RebeccaNoodles I do midday to 8.00pm as we have a tendency to eat late in this house due to my work commitments. I find waiting until midday to eat tricky enough given that I'm usually up by 6.00am. I don't think I'd be able to make it to 2.00pm with my lifestyle.
@73kittycat73 how are you getting on with the fitbit? Tech frightens me so I wouldn't be any good with one of those . I'm a dinosaur and use a notebook to record everything - food diary, measurements, weight, the lot. It's interesting to look back on.
@DuckyNotSwimming how are you getting on ?
I don't have a meal plan for today yet but I'll definitely be giving the cake a swerve. I hope between them DH, DD4 [who stayed over] and DGC's who will be here later after school will see it off as it's staring at me every time I go in the kitchen.
Hope everyone else is getting on alright. One day at a time remember?

chanceux · 24/03/2022 09:01

Thanks @recklessgran, I've not thought about weight loss in packs of butter before. So yes, three packs of butter seems a good result. 🧈 🧈 🧈

ChiselandBits · 24/03/2022 13:16

Thanks all. Am doing well so da alpen and blueberries for brek, an apple at break, even though the biscuits were just sitting there. Definitely one day at a time. A 1lb a week Is 4 stone in a year.

Leftbutcameback · 24/03/2022 15:05

My team are talking about their favourite hot cross buns on our group chat Sad and now I’m hungry! I’ve also just been swimming which makes me want to eat everything in the house! I’m going to stick to protein (eggs) and hope that works

73kittycat73 · 24/03/2022 20:42

Hi recklessgran, Smile Step away from the cake...lol, seriously, I read on here once it's 80/20. Eat right 80% of the time and you should do fine. The Fitbit is going OK, thanks. The only trouble is I can't see it without my reading glasses on. lol I do like to write things down but I have terrible handwriting so like to keep things digital on that front.
Good luck for the weight in KobaniDaughters. Last year when I originally lost the weight I weighed monthly, it's quite encouraging seeing a good weight shift isn't it? This year I'm too impatient! lol
Ah, I remember spooning the chocolate M&M's out of the pot ChiselandBits. Sorry to hear you've had a bad week. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just draw a line under it and start again. I hope this week has been better for you?
A loss is a loss RebeccaNoodles! Grin I'd take that as a win.
Yay chanceux, well done! Star
Oh Leftbutcameback, that's mean of them! Well done for sticking to your plan. Star

recklessgran · 25/03/2022 07:29

Morning. Danger day today and my day off which will include a trip to the hairdressers followed by the usual pub lunch with g/f. It will probably be a bacon sandwich as that seems to be the least damaging of the options plus of course my usual JD and diet coke. I'm not sure what I'll be having for dinner tonight as that will depend on what I get up to in the pub. DH is having meatballs and tagliatelle with DD1 who will be coming for dinner as she usually does on a Friday. I'm not a fan so I won't be having that. Have a good day all. I'll try to behave myself!

TheVeryThing · 25/03/2022 09:48

Is it ok if I join in? I have around 2.5 stone to lose, most of it gained pre-pandemic so I can't even blame covid.
I try 16:8 but am not consistent with it and am not keen on low carb or anything too restrictive. So far today I have had a cup of tea and a spoonful of nutella from the jar! I'm now drinking a bottle of sparkling water and planning to do some form of exercise at lunchtime.
I weighed myself earlier and I am 11 stone 11.5 lbs. I'm 5ft 4 and have a small frame so should really be 9 - 9.5 stone.
Have a good day, everyone.

Leftbutcameback · 25/03/2022 11:14

I know weighing myself everyday is ridiculous but how do I manage to put on two pounds overnight, and more importantly how do I never lose two pounds overnight Shock

TheVeryThing · 25/03/2022 11:23

I suppose that's the downside of weighing every day, but then the fluctuations will occur anyway. It's disheartening to see any kind of gain
but if you take the average over a week you'll hopefully see a loss.
I have very uneven floors in my house and have been known to move the scales around to get a more 'acceptable' reading!

KobaniDaughters · 25/03/2022 13:48

Yesterday was shit. Today is a new day

ChiselandBits · 25/03/2022 16:32

I weigh every day. If I don't, as I didn't for 3 weeks when the battery died, hey preso ive put on 6 or 7lb. It does fluctuate daily but keeps me mindful.

RebeccaNoodles · 25/03/2022 19:13

Hi @TheVeryThing and welcome. I move the scales around too and the lowest number is always correct!

@KobaniDaughters yes indeed, today is a new day, hope it went well?

@Leftbutcameback salt, or sugar? Both can do that to me ,,,

@recklessgran I don't think anyone can resist a bacon sandwich!

I was so motivated this week, went running for the first time in ages on Thurs (was that yesterday?) but of course today I'm ill. with a DC in reception it's just endless. Being sick also makes me crave carbs for energy but I've tried to stay as moderate as I can Confused

Happy weekend everyone.
