Of course @RMS0209 - welcome! Are you veggie or vegan? Do you have a goal?

Themadcatparade · 25/04/2022 11:37

Hello, I was on this thread for some time and would like to jump back in!

I had some success with intermittent fasting and a vegan approach to keto last year so I’m back on it this week.

last year I went from 11st 7 to just under 10st and I’ve managed to sustain between 10.3-10.8 on a normal diet so not doing too bad.

i weighed in at 143lbs this morning which I’m so happy about!! I would like to lose about 7lbs and maintain under 140.

My plan is to fast and have eating window between 12.30 and 6.30pm only, with two meals and a blended berry smoothie in between for my carb intake. Not going to cut them out completely but I’m going my best to limit them as much as I can.

excited to see all your progress again and get some meal ideas too!

Yourownpersonaljesus · 25/04/2022 18:58

Good to see you again @Themadcatparade. Your plan sounds good. I struggled with IF myself, though I could do with trying it again as I've put on a few pounds recently. I put a pair of trousers on this morning for work and they were too tight. This time last year they were fine! I'd like to get back to 10 stone too.

Themadcatparade · 26/04/2022 18:42

@Yourownpersonaljesus

It's not for everyone but it does work. Im just hoping I keep the motivation for the rest of the week.I've just finished my second day of 6 hour eating windows with some cashew cream stuff zucchini roles and I'm very happy!

Dashel · 03/05/2022 13:27

I hope everyone had a good Bank Holiday weekend!

@Themadcatparade vegan keto sounds hard to plan, but it does seem to work for you.

I completed my first beginners cycle of Joe Wicks yesterday and was so pleased to move up to a more challenging work out which I did and then in the night I had an accident in the pitch black and have really hurt my foot so with a bad shoulder and a foot I’m struggling to walk on, I’m a bit lost as to what to do for exercise 😩

I did weigh in at 10st 12 which I guess is ok as hopefully I am putting some muscle on with all the workouts and I’m going to make an effort to stick more to his plan with my diet.

sunflowermadness · 03/05/2022 17:36

@Dashel I'm sorry to hear that I hope you make a speedy recovery!! Flowers

Bank holiday was fab, I gave myself the weekend off after a hard week of the fasts and ate pizza and risotto 🤣

I'm back on it today with a 20 hour water fast, and I've been tracking my weight.

Sunday last week I weighed 144lbs and by Friday I was just under 140. A lot of that will be water weight.

Today I weigh 142 after the weekend of carbs so I'm hoping I've chipped off a permanent total of 2lbs for the week which I'm happy about. I'll know more tomorrow because after that binge my body will be retaining a lot of water I'm peeing loads today! I'm excited to see my average over the next month but I'm hoping to see a steady and gradual decline over the weeks

sunflowermadness · 03/05/2022 17:38

Also I'm breaking my fast tonight with some meat free meatballs and a yummy veg and basil sauce packed with zucchini, aubergine and mushrooms which im reallyyyy looking forward to!

Dashel · 03/05/2022 21:01

@sunflowermadness your dinner sounds great! I had Joe Wickes chickpea and spinach curry with two poppadoms.

I am super impressed with a 20 hour fast! You must be very disciplined.

I think I’m on about 2k steps today with my poor foot, so a real lack of mobility is going to make loosing a lot harder.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 05/05/2022 21:11

You are inspiring me @sunflowermadness to eat better. I've been terrible recently. I've started eating how I used to when I was overweight but can't seem to stop. I've been eating crap in the evenings again which is a habit I managed to break. I really need to stop as I'm not hungry just greedy! I only just went over my maintenance calories today though so hopefully I can get back on track. Just saw a recipe on another thread for a lentil dahl that I'm going to make at the weekend.

Dashel · 09/05/2022 21:42

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

@Yourownpersonaljesus i hope you are winning the evening snacking battle, it’s so hard. @sunflowermadness it sounds like you make delicious dinners!

I seemed to have put the pound back on this morning, the drawbacks of daily weighing 😩 but I have been actively and not eaten too badly.

im still having to be super careful of my toe and shoulder which makes exercise a challenge, but I’m getting there. I did a pre work workout 🥳

DH is away with work tonight so being the ultimate grown up that I am, I made Joe Wicks protein pancakes with blueberries for dinner and they were lush!

He told me over the weekend that he could see that my body had changed a bit and even if the scales weren’t shifting a huge amount I did look better. It’s really nice to have a positive comment!

jeffersonsam · 10/05/2022 08:19

Vegetarians are never take any junk food and non-veg food items. At the same time consuming veg food items needs some restriction for weight loss.

  1. Apples

  2. oatmeals

  3. almonds

  4. flax seeds

  5. Green leaf spianch

  6. Green tea

These are all things will helps to achieve weight loss. Better to avoid some oil food item from the daily food diet is very important for reduce body weight.

Themadcatparade · 10/05/2022 12:59

Hello just an update.

I have managed to loose a lovely 6lbs after 2 and a half weeks of fasting! Getting used to having limited foods during the week and a free weekend, Finding the best foods to eat and challenging myself to get my vitamins in too.

One thing I did notice was that I had much much more energy last weekend when we went for a 9 mile hike (think uphill with rocks to climb and a waterfall to scramble down so lots of strength needed!). I feel fitter and certainly stronger. My skin looks lovely too and my pyjamas are falling down 🤣

I am just below the 138lbs mark at the moment so I’m focussed on the 135lbs benchmark for the next two weeks, not just hitting that target but maintaining around there when I have my indulgent weekends also. I know from experience the longer I fast the slower the lbs fall off too so it might mean I’ll have to add a bit of midweek exercise like a swim or something.
I hope you are all doing well and if anyone has some lovely recipes they will be appreciated!

Themadcatparade · 10/05/2022 13:00

@Dashel its so lovely to receive compliments isn’t it I feel this is one of the biggest motivators! Well done 😃

Yourownpersonaljesus · 10/05/2022 21:31

Sadly I am not winning the evening snacking battle @Dashel. I have actually put on half a stone over the past few weeks! I didn't eat anything after dinner tonight though so that's something I guess. It's great that your body is changing shape - well done. That's an amazing weight loss @Themadcatparade - you thoroughly deserve it after your fasting. I made a lovely spinach and coconut dal for dinner last night. Here's the recipe: www.tinnedtomatoes.com/2013/10/spinach-and-coconut-dal.html?m=1
Someone posted a link on another thread on here.

Dashel · 10/05/2022 21:52

@Themadcatparade wow your hike sounds fantastic, where you in The Lake District? It sounds like you are making fantastic progress and feeling great!

@Yourownpersonaljesus im sorry for your gain. Would it help to either factor in a snack or do your teeth earlier if it’s at night?

thank you both for your lovely comments. It has come at a good time as my arse and thighs have DOMS 🤣 so I need that motivation!

I am down again to 10st 10.9lb this morning and I managed to do another HIIT session early before work. I also did a walking workout at lunch as it’s vile outside and I marched in front of the tv this evening to get my steps to 12k. I had vegan chicken tikka masala for dinner and it was lovely! The food on this plan is pretty good and DH enjoyed it as well.

Tomorrow is a rest day, but I will aim t get my steps in and maybe some yoga

Dashel · 11/05/2022 20:54

Still sore today but it’s so worth it…. I got on the scales this morning and magically the reading was 10st 9.4 lbs apart from when I was very Sick from Covid and was vomiting a lot, this is probably the lightest I have been since 2016 🥳 I know it might be back to 10st 10 or more tomorrow so I shouldn’t read too much into it, but I’m quite chuffed!

Seeing that is so close to ten and a half stone and that would be fab and then I will be working towards something starting with a 9 🤩

Anyway progress report for the day I managed my 15k steps no problem, but haven’t done any yoga. Food wise I had to improvise as my bananas weren’t ripe enough for my normal breakfast and I was in the office today, so I had a Deliciously Ella peanut breakfast bar and an M&S faux beef roll, minus the cheese and a faux chicken burger, bun and salad for dinner and some strawberries, oh and an apple with some peanut nutter for a snack.

Tomorrow I will do a HIIT workout and have protein chocolate and banana oats for breakfast and a tofu stir fry (no rice or noodles) for lunch and probably a chickpea curry with poppadoms for dinner.

Dashel · 13/05/2022 07:26

Hope everyone else is doing well and making progress!

I had a good day yesterday with a HIIT class and food wise. I then got on the scale this morning and I’m 10st 8.8lb 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

The weight seems to be falling off but I’m not complaining! Finding something that works for me is amazing. If I’m honest, I think when I went vegan, I expected to loose weight without even trying. It seems like it should be a healthy diet and if I had been a whole foods type vegan, I probably would have done really well. Instead I discovered vegan chocolate and which biscuits were vegan and the M&S plant kitchen range including their cherry bakewell cookies (which are sooooo good) and of course the usual chips, crisps and vegan wine. None of that is conducive to loosing weight or being healthy.

So being on this food plan, I am eating so much better, my bread products intake is so much lower and although I’m eating things like soya yoghurts and vegan chicken that wouldn’t be eaten by someone on a whole foods diet, it is a lot cleaner than it was a few months ago.

Themadcatparade · 14/05/2022 08:47

Wow @Dashel i wish I had your motivation with the workouts, ever since I have been dieting I haven’t exercised once apart from the hikes 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I really need to get back swimming again, it’s just finding the time. I start a new job soon working fully from home so I’m hoping I can slip out after work Thursdays or Fridays when the kids aren’t home.

well done with the weigh loss that’s amazing! I think it’s so much easier when you actually enjoy the food!

my hike was in the Peak District this time! The lakes and Snowdonia are common spots for us to hike though, it’s rare we go to the peaks!

@Yourownpersonaljesus thank you for the Dahl recipe I love Dahl and we haven’t had it in a while so I’ve put it on my dinner list 🥰

i have had to put a pause on the fasting this week. My DD has a vomiting bug which had me up alll night Sunday with a no sleep, unfortunately this triggered a migraine in me by weds so I’ve been on a horrible sicky head spiral which has had me feeling sorry for myself over bowls of noodles and burgers in bed. I also left my job yesterday and was suprised with copious amounts of cake at lunch, so the past three days I haven’t been on the scales. my heads easing now so I’ll get back on it Monday or Tuesday and forgive myself for the few lbs I’ve probably put on! You need to look after yourself when you are sick don’t you!

Dashel · 14/05/2022 09:49

Hi @Themadcatparade i used to live in the Derbyshire Dales and there are some amazing walks and fantastic places (and lots of great restaurants too)

Have you thought about other non traditional exercises like dancing? I do Shabam (a Les Mills class) occasionally and enjoy that and maybe the DC might join in with you? It gets your heart rate up!, so I count it as exercise. I hope both you and your DD feel better soon.

Good luck in your new job!

I have just finished a Joe Wicks live session, thankfully I have shoulder issues or I would have had to do 5 rounds of burpee’s 😭 instead I did various other things like running, skipping and jumping jacks. If I don’t have DOMs tomorrow then I will be shocked. The abs section was brutal.

I have stayed the same weight today and I’m happy with that, I fly out on Saturday and although I kind of want to be 10st 7lb, I would be ok at this weight as it’s better than I was expecting.

I have a couple of events next month and I want to look good at, so hopefully that will keep me in check on holiday. I will be going to the hotel gym and if DH doesn’t want to, I’m going anyway. Previously I would use this as an excuse.

Huge NSV for me yesterday as I tried on a dress that I bought years ago thinking I will wear this when my stomach shrinks. I wore it out last night! I was pretty happy.. more motivation to keep going. I need new clothes and it’s been something I have put off as trying on clothes when you feel fat isn’t fun and so I just buy t shirts and socks and PJs.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Yourownpersonaljesus · 14/05/2022 18:06

Hope you're feeling better now @Themadcatparade . Sounds like you are doing great @Dashel - it feels good when clothes actually look nice doesn't it. I've going though the opposite at the moment - my clothes are getting tighter by the day! I have't been too bad today but there's plenty of time left to eat Grin.

Dashel · 14/05/2022 23:01

Brush your teeth early @Yourownpersonaljesus it is a known anti evening snacking technique

Dashel · 19/05/2022 13:40

Afternoon everyone 😄

Hope everyone is well and making progress!

Morning weigh in was 10st 8.8lb which I am still very happy about. Tomorrow morning will be the last weigh in before my hols 🥳

I did a HITT workout this morning and am taking gym stuff with me. I find holidays really motivating so am keen to book another to keep me on track.

I have packed lots of nice dresses and although I wish I was a stone lighter, I am going to try and make an effort with my appearance. I’m not going to live off lettuce leaves and water, but I’m not hoping to go too crazy.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 19/05/2022 21:49

Have a wonderful holiday @Dashel .

Dashel · 19/05/2022 21:54

Thank you @Yourownpersonaljesus, how are things going with you?

Yourownpersonaljesus · 19/05/2022 22:19

Not great to be honest. Maybe I need an upcoming holiday to motivate me Grin.
