Curious to know how tall you are.

I'd say about 5ft 5

Maybe aim for 2stone?

tedsletterofthelaw · 27/10/2021 20:56

In my experience, maybe 3/4 months to lose the first two stone. Then painfully, painfully slowly for the last two.

Being 10 stones gives you a BMI of 23.3 (healthy)
Being 9 stones gives you a BMI of 21 (healthy)
Being 8 stones gives you a BMI of 18.6 (close to being under weight)

Why is being size 6 so important to you?

It will depend on calorie intake and how sustainable it is. If you don't already, incorporate exercise, especially weights, as although this won't have a great effect on weight loss it will help tone you up.

WeAreTheHeroes · 27/10/2021 21:05

8 stone is within the healthy weight range for the OP's height suggesting there is nothing wrong with aiming to get back in the size 8 jeans.

toolazytothinkofausername · 27/10/2021 21:07

mumtobee22 There are plenty of jeans in the sea Wink

Seriously, sling those size 6s to the curb and find a new pair!

The jeans are a size 6.
RicStar · 27/10/2021 21:10

Well 11 to 8 is only a gap of 3 stone - so that should help!

MusicTeacherSussex · 27/10/2021 21:14

It's spelled "lose".

I think you mean 3 stone.

How long depends on how much you limit food and up your exercise. If you're 5 foot 5, I'd get over it if I were you.

pastabest · 27/10/2021 21:17

I'm a similar height and weight to you and if I was 8 stone I would look very unwell.

I've never fit into size 6 jeans even at my slimmest in my early 20s. I definitely wouldn't fit into them now no matter how much weight I lost as my hips are wider post childbirth.

How long is it since you were 8 stone last?

9 months ago since I had. A baby

You mean you were 8 stone before you became pregnant, and you want to get back to that?
Do you mean the baby is 9 months old?

TheOrigRights · 27/10/2021 21:33

What exercise do you do?
Have you needed to lose weight before?

Brissiegirl · 27/10/2021 21:38

My tip which has helped me is portion size and throwing out the crap foods. I'm on my way to loosing 3 stone. Currently have lost 1and a half and this has taken me just over 3 months. I'm expecting the next stone and half to take me another 4/6 months so I've set April for myself. I go for a 5km walk virtually everyday. My new diet and the walks are sustainable, and I enjoy a treat of cuppa and 2 biscuits every day. If I cut everything out I wouldn't last.

Weight has dropped off my boobs & face, my arms & legs are toning up. Slower weight loss is off my stomach but its noticeable and my belts are 2 holes tighter already. I'm so proud of myself. Hope this helps you in your journey.

WeAreTheHeroes · 27/10/2021 21:43

Okay - I made a mistake and the jeans are size 6. We're all different builds. I'm 5'4" and have never weighed under 9 stone as an adult. Doesn't make it wrong to weigh less. A good rule of thumb I think is that the Blood service won't take donations from anyone who weighs under 7.5 stone.

BoPeeple · 27/10/2021 21:47

You need to go very slowly, as losing weight quickly (especially by vigorous exercise) is a false economy - your body simply adapts your metabolism to compensate.

You need to play the long game here if you want to keep the weight off or you’ll end up worse off. Aim to give up processed foods and do some light weights to tone up, then gradually make your diet healthier and build in some pre-breakfast walking.

And there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose 3 stone - you will immediately put yourself less at risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pelvic health issues and all sorts of other problems.

Good for you!

This sounds pretty sensible to me! ^

Just walking

Are you breast feeding?
How much weight did you put on while pregnant ie how much have you already lost?
To put on 1/2 your body weight while pregnant seems a lot.

Well if it took 9 months to put the weight on then probably the same to lose it.
