I read with interest the "Zactival" thread and thanks to you all getting together and discussing it probably (unfortunately) bieng a scam, i have saved myself some money.
However, i was just wondering if any one has ever tried any herbal appetite suppressors. Although i am keen to lose some weight (aren't we all?!) i want to stick to natural, herbal remedies rather than get something prescribed by my GP.
I understand that you have all probably tried every thing going, but what doesnt work for one may work for another person. I would value your experiences as things are getting really quite desperate in the old weight department here and its time to do something about it.
In anticipation (of me resembling Elle Mcphereson in a month!!!!!!!) thanks.

Hi donbean, You may have heard of Adios being edvertised on the telly, That's a herbal alternative. But expensive for what it is. I used it till i found Boots Diet aid, all the same ingredients. Both really helped me. I'd be taking them now if i wasn't 30 weeks pg!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 10:10

I havent heard of the boots diet aid, what is it, how much is it and how much success did you have on it and for how long did you take it? Sorry, a million questions!

Sorry it took so long to reply! I was away from my pc. Diet aid costs about £4 a box or something like that and i think there is enougth in a box to last a couple of weeks... if memory serves. I was coming up for 12 stone when i started taking it ds was 10months. i think it took about two months, (sorry i know i keep saying "i think" but i have serious pregnancy head!) but i was 10 1/2 when i stopped. I did the usual aswell. Ate sensibily, exercise and all that, but that's the best success i've EVER had on a diet. I only stopped taking them cos i started a new job and wanted to indulge myself for a little while. Didn't go too nutty though! i think they are certainly worth a go. I don't mind all the questions it's ok! i hope that helps though.

Donbean · 11/11/2004 11:30

Is it a drink or pills, powder or bars?

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:31

oh one more thing. I fround they gave me more energy, cos they also stimulate your metablolism, and make you burn what you do eat faster.

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:32

pills
Hang on.. i thinki have some in a drawer, i'll read the label.

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:35

It's the Boots Alternatives range... Ingredient are:
Dandelion root powder
Fucus Dry extract
Boldo Dry extract

It's says to ask you hv first if you are bf.

Donbean · 11/11/2004 11:36

ive just been on the boots website and they are not on it, I will go to town and look for them. There is a list of other pills and potions that they sell. Its a bit mind boggling to be honest!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 11:43

Thanks for that, one more question......do you take the pill BEFORE or AFTER the cream cake for maximum effect?

OP posts:
PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:55

PMSL!! Lol, i think during! Whilst running on the spot. with my eyes closed! If you can't see it how do you know you've eaten it! Actually i was a bit naughty and used to take an extra tablet if i knew i was going to have something bad. But i did do extra exercise too!

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:57

Actually it does say on the packet One tablet three times a day. After your cream cake!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 11:57

NONONONO! Got a fab tip for you....if you break it in half....then what happens is that all the calories escape into the air. That is FACT.... I must re inhale them as im such a huge big MAMMA!!!

OP posts:
PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:58

Oh and there are 60 tablets in a box!
so that's..... erm...

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 11:59

Pmsl! I didn't know that! Does it work with everything? or just cream cake? What if you inhale first the while breaking it BLOW!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 12:00

so does it actually say on the box, take with cakes? Is that a compusery stipulation? Must recommend to every one of my friends, they will worship me......

OP posts:
PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 12:03

lol, mine all do! incidently my little calculation worked out that a box should last you 20 days. Yes it did take me that long! My maths is rubbish!

Oooo apparently a non active ingredient of them is Icing sugar?!?! That must be to make it go better with the cake!

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 12:05

Either that or too make them go down better... I guess with out it they would taste like rabbit droppings!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 12:14

Ok so, my aim is 3 stone by xmas...so thats 6 weeks to go....so thats i stone every 2 weeks, what???? thats achievable right...all bran and coffee..thats my "shit yourself thin diet", with the suppliments i could be a prune by xmas eve...here goes!!!

OP posts:
Donbean · 11/11/2004 12:19

DH is going to be amazed and he will love me even more in fact he will worship me and insist that i apear on Richard and Judy then Hello magazine will want me and i can do talks in schools and colleges and universities and could write cookery books on recipes with pills included in the cake mixes, then of course an biography entitled "Donbean..the thin woman within" ....thinking out loud..sorry

OP posts:
PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 12:26

Lol, not sure you'll get there by Xmas but give it a go by all means! Is it really only six weeks till then!?!? Bloody hell! "Shit yourself thin"? Good theory, might make your family move out tho! SO you might not want to do that... Then again you might?! I found a few things that used to help me, Black coffee is great, If you don't like it too much try it really weak. it's easier to take. And Grapefruit juice i used to drink a glass before every meal, and that REALLY suppresses your appetite. If you hate it then you can try mixing it with orange juice or Putting granulated sweetner in it. It still works. That coupled with the tablets increasing you metabolism you should be hiding behind lamp posts in no time!

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 12:27

lol, remember me in the thankyou's and credits at the beginging of the book won't you! Or I may sue!!

PocketTasha · 11/11/2004 12:40

Right, i have to go, need to make lunch! Lot's of salad i think, you've given me a complex. I'll be dieting the second this baby is out now i think! Good luck! Motivation is all you need! And Diet aid, and grapefruit juice... But what a good action plan!

Donbean · 11/11/2004 13:23

Ok, thanks for the chat and laughs. Good luck with the little one...(think small head, think small head!!)cherio. x
