I am working hard at losing weight but can’t really decide what I am aiming for - how do you set your targets and would you mind sharing.
Thanks

I think body composition is really a key consideration in relation to 'ideal' weight and health,

ditalini · 04/09/2021 11:32

After yoyoing a bit I would say 10st.

I went down to 9.5 at one point but I looked gaunt. I'm nearly 50 though - would have looked great at that weight 10 years ago probably.

The extra half stone or so still lets me look good in clothes (size 10 bottom, 12 top) but still plumping my face & boobs out a bit.

grasstreeleaf · 04/09/2021 11:36

But really, as far as I can see, not enough is known about it to definitively declare exactly how wide the healthy ranges of body compositions are...

LalalalalalaLand123 · 04/09/2021 11:45

I'm 5'4" and aim for 8 stone 5. Currently 8 stone 13 with flabby tummy due to bad habits and lack of exercise from lockdown. But really I go more on how my clothes fit (currently: badly).

MsTSwift · 04/09/2021 11:48

Stuck at 10 stone - lost 2 stone in 2019 so maintaining. Ideally 9.5 stone but I love wine and cake!

Concestor · 04/09/2021 12:02

8.5-9 stone makes me a nice slim 8-10. I'm currently 10 stone 5 and 12-14.

catinthewindow · 04/09/2021 13:01

@grasstreeleaf wonder what our mate Herman would say about that 😂

mamaweebeastie · 04/09/2021 13:11

I'm 5'5 & about 11.5 stone. Anything below 10.5 stone and I look anorexic.

grasstreeleaf · 04/09/2021 13:12

@catinthewindow I dread to think!😂 No doubt we would spend a whole week dazed and confused over it!!!Grin

catinthewindow · 04/09/2021 18:13

@grasstreeleaf 😂 … I’ve just got to the part where he does agree that exercise reduces inflammation and cortisol… therefore I assume helping you lose weight if these were the cause or your weight gain

grasstreeleaf · 04/09/2021 20:40

@catinthewindow, yes, quite infuriating isn't he? The whole book's sales patter seems very pedantically to focus on exercise's effect upon daily metabolic rate but the problem is I don't think that is easily taken out of context from exercise's effect upon the efficiency of all the other bodily processes and functions which in turn affect weight and health generally (which he refers to continually throughout).

Sorry to resurrect old thread but I was trying to search what I should weigh at 5'6" and it popped up! And I am Shock

I guess based on this thread everyone is different?!

I'm 44, work out 3 times a wk / cardio and weights - and weigh 10 stone 10 and am a straight size 10.

In my twenties with low carbing I could be 9 stone and a size 8 but I had zero muscle. And I suspect a much higher metabolism!

I wear Levi's 28 now and same then 🤪

SeanMean · 18/05/2024 07:28

8.5 for me. I put weight on my boobs, face arms and tummy.

Feeling chunky at the moment at close to 9.5.

Paintedhat · 18/05/2024 08:09

I’m 5ft5 and a bit and I’ve gone from 11stone to 9 stone in the last 8 months. Aiming to lose a few more pounds which I think will be the lowest I can go without looking gaunt.
