I am working hard at losing weight but can’t really decide what I am aiming for - how do you set your targets and would you mind sharing.
Thanks

Ideal weight would be around 11 stone, but I have a long way to go before reaching that weight, when I do I will see how I feel. I would be absolutely ecstatic to be a size 12 at some point in the near future, not sure my hips will allow me to be a smaller size, at least on the bottom half Smile

Everyone's different. I'm 5'6 and I look slim and healthy at 11. 5 stone. Even as a positively skinny 16 year old, I weighed over 10 stone. I'd be scrawny as hell at 8 or 9 stone, as some have suggested.

I have big boobs and reasonable muscles though, which must make a difference.

Go by your shape rather than weight. There's a big range of healthy BMI. Aim for somewhere in the middle of that and see.

SeanMean · 01/09/2021 08:19

8 stone 4 to 8 stone 7 for me.

I'm 8.10 at the moment and can feel it but have no willpower to change.

Can't believe how different the answers have been. Fascinating!

I’m 5ft 5. At peak fitness in my 30s my weight was 8st 10lbs, size 8/10. It was hard work to maintain it (weights & cardio 6x weekly, not slacking with careful eating) and now, in my late 40s and not as committed as I used to be, I’m a stone heavier, but still maintain a size 10 (just!).

In my adult lifetime I have ranged from 7st 4lbs to 11st 7lbs. Around 9st is my “ideal weight” both in look and feel.

VetInAVat · 01/09/2021 08:29

I feel great at 12 stone. Any less and I get comments about being bony and gaunt. I'm a professional athlete and very muscular though. Currently 14st 7lbs which is annoying but doesn't impact my performance.

Derbee · 01/09/2021 08:33

I’m 5’6, and look best just under 10 st. Ideally 9st 8 ish, but I find that difficult to maintain. Just over 10st is comfortable to maintain.

Currently over that, and pregnant so not looking my best. Lol

EssexCat · 01/09/2021 08:34

I’m 5’5 ish and 9 1/2 stone is best for me. I’m currently 9’12 and my jeans are a bit tight.

Up to my late30s I was 8 1/2 stone and actually when I look at some of my pictures I actually look gaunt and unhealthy (but only once in was in my 30s. At that point I needed the weight to pad my face out a bit!)

frumpety · 01/09/2021 08:34

It's interesting to me as an obese person, the difference a few pounds makes to those of you who are what I would consider slim and how quickly you notice the difference. I am guessing there are far fewer elasticated waistbands in your wardrobes !

Bluepop09 · 01/09/2021 08:34

10st. Anything under that I feel I look too skinny, which is weird seen as it's the higher end of the healthy BMI for our height. I'm 5'5

bjjgirl · 01/09/2021 09:27

65kg but I do a lot of sport so I have visible abs at this weight, I think it depends on your muscle / fat ratio

Girlintheframe · 01/09/2021 09:28

I'm 5'5 and ideally would like to be around 9st but seem to stick to 9st 7. I'm slim but do have a bit of a tum

SheABitSpicyToday · 01/09/2021 09:34

I like being a bit chubby, I don’t like thin. 12 stone at 5ft7 put me in a size 10/12 and that was when I was happiest. Currently a size 16 but 29 weeks pregnant so not too bothered atm.

SaberToothKitten · 01/09/2021 09:35

9 stone would be my absolute ideal but I'm about 10st at the moment and it is all on my tummy, from just under my boobs to my belly. Bleugh. But I'm 50, I've had three kids and I guess I have to be realistic. Still don't feel like 'me' at this weight though.

m0therofdragons · 01/09/2021 09:35

9st 4 was my ideal pre dc but now, balancing out my love of food, 9st 12 is my target. I was 10st 3 4 weeks ago and really happy but have been on holiday and had dc birthday cake etc so I’m expecting I’ve put on 10lbs at least. It’s depressing how quickly it goes on but back to calorie counting for me. Low 10s is fine for me - I’m hour glass curvy so under 9st 4 I lose my boobs.

PurBal · 01/09/2021 09:36

60-65kg. Not sure what that is in stone.

FrownedUpon · 01/09/2021 09:39

8st 7lb is my best weight. Currently 9st & look ok.

Abouttimemum · 01/09/2021 09:44

9st for me, fluctuate up and down by a few lbs but 9st is the ideal.

Amdone123 · 01/09/2021 09:46

I'm 5ft 6 and currently weigh 13st. I'm trying to get to 12st, which is where I feel most comfortable and clothes fit better. I couldn't imagine being 9st or 10st. I think I'd look terrible.
I'm concentrating on being fit and healthy. Like a pp said, the number's not too important but worth keeping an eye on.
I'm athletic looking, thanks to walking, Zumba, a physical job and a childhood of playing tennis, athletics and tap dancing!

LynetteScavo · 01/09/2021 09:48

I'm happy at 10st but would prefer nearer 9. Anything under 9st and I look too thin.

Dollywilde · 01/09/2021 09:53

I’m 5ft 6 and my happy place is 10st. I look amazing at 9.5st but I’ve only ever been that weight when I’m miserable, so it’s not worth it for me (it happens when I’m not looking after myself, so I don’t think it’s something to aim for).

I was last 10st this time last year post pregnancy when I was breastfeeding and baby would only nap in the pram. One year later and she’s off the breast, and she naps in her cot while I eat biscuits Grin so I’m back up to 11st which is where I tend to plateau when I’m not making an effort.

JustFrustrated · 01/09/2021 10:12

5ft 6.

Before lipo I needed to be 8.5/8.8 to have a "balanced figure"

I have no waist/boobs/hips so very straight up and down, and only carry weight on my trunk.

In march had lipo to waist/flanks/abdo/bra line which means even at 9.3 I have a waist and no back fat.

Also had my boobs done, so I can go upto 9.5 without looking blob like.

I'm currently 9.4 and thinking I should cut down on the chocolate.

gratedbeetroot · 01/09/2021 10:16

I was 8st 10lb pre DC but I still wasn’t happy with that - I’m a pear shape and there was no reducing my hips and thighs. I’m heavier now but exercise a lot so am more muscular.

JustFrustrated · 01/09/2021 10:17

To add, I had lipo because I knew it would give me shape. Even when I was 7.10 I was straight up and down. I have my maternal sides body shape. Unlike my sister who is all curves, a good 3 inches shorter and weighs more and looks amazing. Not jealous at all 🤣

whatswithtodaytoday · 01/09/2021 10:19

I'm 5ft 5 and a half :D and the lowest I've ever been as an adult is 11 st 11. I looked pretty good - very curvy (I have massive boobs), though obvs still a bit fat. I think anything below 10 st would look very skinny on me.

If I get over 13 st I lose my cheekbones and shape, so I would like to get back down to 12 st ish.

IndiaMay · 01/09/2021 10:20

I am my best at 10stone on the dot. That makes me a size 10 on the bottom and 8 on top at 5ft 6. I have a TINY waist though (measures the same as a size 6) at that weight and then curvy hips and a bum so really cant physically get any lighter without starving myself. People who say 8stone something always baffle me. At 10 stone my legs are slim and my stomach is flat. I think maybe my hourglass figure adds weight and i do a lot of muscle building excersise but I'd honestly have to starve myself to get to anything below 9 and a half stone.
