OOOOH, I'm so pleased with that one, but it only works if you know the Carol. It's probably too many letters anyway.

I'll have another think.

OhLittleTownOfKewcumber?

WWB you sound like my dh - he is a complete bah humbugite

I like Christmas really.

On the 25th of December!

My bah-humbuggishness comes from people going on and on and on and on about Christmas from around about the beginning of August.

It also stems from me being totally useless and not having bought anything yet, and thus sticking my fingers in my ears, lalalalalaing at high volume, and pretending that it's still only October ...

Kewcumber - glad you had a good time, shame about the lack of gossip. Sounds like a good time was had by all. I like all the suggestions from WWB and Littlefish for Christmas names for you.

WWB - I've failed to come up with a Christmas name for you though. Do some online shopping - it's the only sort I've managed so far.

But I do have tomorrow off to try to do some Christmas shopping. Had to go into Oxford on Saturday (chiropodist - such a glamorous life I lead), and it was completely hideous. Crammed with people and tipping with rain. I'm hoping it will be a bit more civilised tomorrow.

JackieNoel I love your name too - more original than the bastardisation of carols that most of us have resorted to

Sounds like a good time was had by all on Saturday I have been lurking on threads talking about it and apparently Kewcumber you had everyone misty eyed talking about your ds

possible new development on the ankle front - had an ultrasound yesterday. Consultants thinks I may have a rare side effect of high cholesterol where the cholesterol deposits in the tendon. But they don;t know if I have high cholesterol so off to have it checked.

Feel slightly positive that it might be something more easily treated than deteriorating cartiledge but a bit disappointed in myself that I probably have high cholesterol. I mean its hardly surprising is it but I do feel a bit sad that it may be self-inflicted IYSWIM.

and my lovely mum is forgiven for her stupid comment as she has vbery kindly offered to babysit on a friday night so I can go back to acqua once a week . I have a feeling challenging her on her commetn and saying it made me miserable may have had some effect.

Also she has a clear scan (ex-bladder cancer) last week and is feeling a bit that life is short enough as it is and is on a mission to get us both fitter!

Good news about your Mum's scan. You are sounding altogether more positive this week too

Yes - I saw the thread that said everyone was misty eyed at your stories Kew. It's the way you tell 'em. I guess you've told the stories before, so you're immune to them so to speak, but people haven't necessarily heard them from you before.

Good news for your Mum, and hopefully for you too, Kew.

WWB - when I was shopping I thought of you: I saw a gift bag, one of the ones you put bottles in. It was red, and had, in white writing, 'ho bloody ho'. Made me smile. Though I do know what you mean - we're not planning to put our decorations up for at least a week or 2, but I do feel that I need to get stuff like present-buying sorted in advance, or it all gets too overwhelming later on.

Had a dreadful night last night - DS came in to us (well me, DH is away, again) about 2.45am complaining of earache. Dosed him up with Medised, and he went back in about 10 minutes, but only till 4.30, when he was crying in pain for about an hour, poor love. But no pain this morning. So as a result I'm a complete wreck, and resorted to chocolate (oh yes, WWB, you'll like this - how's this for getting ahead of things? I've had my first mini-eggs - the shop at work is selling them and creme eggs).

DeckthehallswithFEETofTigers: how are you doing? Any improvement?

Gosh this is long, sorry.

Damn I buggered that link up didn't I??

I am suddenly starting to feel much better now JackieNo, thanks for asking . I was back at the quack's yesterday - my lungs are clearing and I will be back at work next week. Never thought I would hear myself say this but I am really pleased about that. I have serious cabin fever - although I have been out a couple of times since this all started I have been largely comfined to the sofa. (Hurrah for MN I have the 2007 Champion Lurker award I think). Can't wait for life to get back to normal.

Having a pretty rotten day today though

Mini eggs - - mmmmmmmmm

Oh golly - poor you. I'd seen the thread, but not clicked on it.

Glad you're feeling better though. There's only so much daytime TV you can watch, isn't there.

Hope everything clears up soon (your lungs, and the police thing).

Tiger, I read your other thread. You are having a pretty horrid time you poor thing

WWB, well done! and back in your normal guise. SOrry I have a CHristmas name. I have to make SOME effort, it is bizarre hearing Christmas carols blaring out of the shops in 24 degrees of sunshine....at the moment am more concerned with DD's 3rd birthday on Friday

Jackie, sorry to hear of your visitors and DS's nocturnal ear activities

I may make an effort again soon. Hadn't put any weight on the other day, might have now. DS slightly better at night - only woke ONCE between 7 and 7 last night which is fairly incredible for him

MrsJC - hopefully last night is the beginning of him turning the corner!

I got my first piece of fridge art today. CM promised that she only put the glue on the paper and the bobbles, stars and fuzzy felts were carefully chosen by DS and placed on himself

I'm half a humbug. Hate Xmas being too dragged out but do love the preparation as well as the day itself. I suppose I'm in the "Keep Xmas in December" camp.

And yes I suppose I am feeling a little more positive, not eating much less but feel like a bit of light is breaking over the horizon. I think I may have some kind of TIme-sensitive depression which self combusted after a certain time for no obvious reason. It's hapened before. Almost like I get bored with being miserable!

Report
JackieNoel · 04/12/2007 20:23

Woohoo, MrsJC - I do hope that sleeping trend continues. Good luck with the birthday - hope she has a lovely day. What have you got planned?

Kew - aaah, how lovely. Your first (of many, no doubt) masterpieces. My 2 are completely different in the art department - at DS's age, DD was bringing home 12 or so bits of 'art' a day, but DS hardly does any. He really doesn't like getting dirty. Weird.

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:29

Excitingly someone in Ireland is going to the same orphanage that DS is from in a couple of weeks, so I am putting together a package of photos of him for the carers that looked after him and the director. They must so rarely hear of how the children are doing once adopted and I'd love to think someone over there is thinking of him.

I was thinking of putting a small amount say £10 in an envelope for my favorite carers as a "New Year" present - do you think they would be offended by straight cash? They were so kind and generous to me and they really aren't well paid.

Report
deckthehallswithFEETofTIGERs · 05/12/2007 12:36

Kewcumber, what a lovely idea to send pictures. I'm sure they'll be chuffed to bits to see how well ds is doing . Is it usual to give money at this time of year? Would you be sending £'s and if so would it be easy for them to change it to local currency? If they are likely to be offended perhaps it would be better to send a small gift, maybe smellies or something similar, or something quintisentially English

Mrs JC woo hoo @ your ds sleeping - given that it is now the middle of the night where you are I really hope you are zzzzzzing away now.

DD is a prolific artist - to start with I kept everything but now we are more selective. DH isn't keen on them being displayed all over the place so we keep them in a scrapbook.

Report
Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:39

I would give it to them in dollars - very easy to change, there's an exchange on every st corner. Whern I left I gave all 10 carers a small goodie bag of gifts and a photo of them with DS and about £10 in dollars, but I'm dependent on someone i don;t know carrying stuff plus I have to get it all over to ireland so I was thinking that photos and money is probably the only practical thing (unless someone can think of something small and easy to post).

There were only four carers I would send something to and hope they still worked there.

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:41

My plan re art is to keep this first one (for his lifebook which I plan to start any day now....) then put one up on the fridge and replace it with the next one and not bother keeping the old one IYSWIM.
