cricketmum84 · 01/07/2021 08:24

Hi all! I got my bum in gear and set up the July thread for our ongoing challenge to lose 7lbs or 3kg per month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, a newbie or a lurker. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch.

There's a good mix of diet and exercise regimes so plenty of hints and tips available.

My stats are:
SW (Dec 19) 25st 2lbs
CW 13st 6lbs
Loss for June 6lbs
Loss so far 11st 10lbs

Target for July is 12st 13lbs. I'm so excited by the prospect of being in the 12s!!

Previous thread is here if anyone wants to catch up!

Lose 7lbs/3kgs in June! The new thread! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4259093-lose-7lbs-3kgs-in-june-the-new-thread

Happy July and good luck!

@BlueLobelia I've been weighing daily and it's been fascinating (to me!) to see the fluctuations. Where I've seen a gain, I've had the incentive to have a light day and the confidence to know it's not a "real" gain so I should just keep on doing what I'm doing. That said, that philosophical approach has been hard won over a month as in week 2 I watched the same 2lb go on and off for a week and I think if I'd been in a worse headspace it could have derailed me.

That said, my scales only measure in full pounds which I think I kind of like - the 0.2 of a pound you've put on is not even a big poo is it? (Sorry!)

BlueLobelia · 16/07/2021 09:19

I am sure it was a poo Grin But that was not cooperating properly in a goodly time for my weigh in. :)

I agree hope about fluctuations..... I need to not lose my confidence because I am really quikcly thrown into self flaggelation and hit the 'fuckit' button. It will be a light day today for me. i need to seriously keep an eye on portion sizes and last night I had two pints of alcohol-free beer which In think made me bloated.

Pickersgill · 16/07/2021 09:35

Another up and down week for me (I like to weigh daily), but I did get down to 12 stone 2.4 and the fluctuations have been smaller than they have been. I've also lost an inch round my waist. Smile

I've been concentrating on walking more this week and found a nice local walk to do daily.

cricketmum84 sorry to hear your news. Flowers

cricketmum84 · 17/07/2021 09:16

Yay scales have moved at last!

Had a bad couple of weeks with high blood sugars and obviously the bad news but I'm back on medication now and levels are settling which has made a difference.

2lbs down for July. No way I will make 7lbs though.

BlueLobelia · 17/07/2021 10:01

I did hit the fuckit button last night so no weigh in today. BUT I am back on it.

Pickersgill · 21/07/2021 10:42

Finally got that stubborn pound off so have officially lost a stone! Today's weigh in was 12 stone 1.1 and I started on 13 stone 2 back in May.

I've no doubt I'll seesaw up and down over that barrier again but today was just the boost I needed.

cricketmum84 · 22/07/2021 08:16

Congrats @Pickersgill that's a great milestone!

I had a lovely little jump down on the scales this morning and was shocked to find myself at 13.2! So 4 off for this month so far and it also means 12 stone off in total since the start!

Hope everyone is managing in this heat!

OP posts:
Pickersgill · 22/07/2021 14:55

Well done cricketmum84 that's a huge achievement!

I am Not Good with heat as I turn into a sweaty beetroot. Plus side is I can't eat when I'm hot so it's a lot easier to diet. Grin

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 23/07/2021 08:26

cricketmum84 that’s fantastic!

My weekly weigh-in today:

SW 62.6kg
CW 57.9kg
Loss for July: 2.4kg (I’ve lost 1.4kg in the last week! It’s been too hot to eat much…)
GW 50kg

Pickersgill · 23/07/2021 10:06

Well done DuPain!

The heat and the advice on overcoming a plateau seem to be working here:
SW: 13st 2lb
SW July: 12st 4lb
CW: 12st 0.4lb
Next goal is under 12 stone. I'm really starting to see the impact- I'm wearing a dress I haven't worn for ages and it looks great.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 23/07/2021 11:59

Well done right back at you Pickersgill ! It’s great when you start to see and feel results of the diet isn’t it?

cricketmum84 · 26/07/2021 06:38

13 exactly this morning!!! 6lbs off so far for July! I think it's come off my knees as they are starting to look really skinny!

Any tips for losing fat from the stomach area. I feel a bit like an apple with toothpicks for legs at the moment...

OP posts:
Pickersgill · 26/07/2021 12:58

Woo hoo! Fab news!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 30/07/2021 08:59

Another weigh-in day! I’m gradually making progress - my failing is starting on the wine and crisps when dinner is ready and DH still isn’t home from work at 7pm…

SW 62.6kg
CW 57.3kg
Loss for July: 3.0kg
GW 50kg

ImFree2doasiwant · 31/07/2021 17:52

End of month check in. Not really been "on plan" at all this month fira variety if reasons, so REALLY pleased to find myself 4lbs down this morning. That's 4lbs fir the whole of July but I'm happy with that.

Pickersgill · 01/08/2021 09:57

Well done everyone- slow and steady is the way to do it.

I briefly dipped below 12stone and then promptly went on holiday and drank lots of wine and ate tonnes of crap. And don't regret any of it Grin

Post holiday weigh in is 12stone 1 which is much better than I thought it would be and means I get to hold onto my 1 stone loss milestone. Now to see what I can do in august.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 02/08/2021 23:22

Just back from hols...I'm down to 11st2, I was about 11st5 when I went., so pretty pleased for 2.5weeks. Will have to go more often!

I put it down to semi self catering in a rural location, doing 5-6 epic long walks, a tiny amount of skipping (until I twisted my ankle), sticking to breakfast, healthy snack, protein and salad for lunch and veggie for dinner. Also less stressed.

HolaVida · 03/08/2021 09:25

SW 13st 6.5
CW 11st 13
TW 11st 3-7
Total lost for July: GAIN of 3lbs!

Although I've gained overall this month, for some reason I'm not too depressed about that! We've done holidaying and celebrating and meeting people for the first time in years, so am actually impressed that it's not more.

Came on here to look for an August thread, as I would love to lose half a stone this coming month!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 06/08/2021 08:44

As there’s no August thread (is everyone on holiday?) I’m going to record my weekly weigh-in here…

SW 62.6kg
CW 57.9kg
Loss for August: a gain of 0.6kg 😔
GW 50kg

My MIL is staying and there has been a lot of eating and drinking…going to have to be more sensible over the next week, although that’s going to be difficult over the weekend and on Wednesday. I need to do some exercise as well!

HolaVida · 06/08/2021 09:51

It’s really difficult to manage isn’t it, @DuPainDuVinDuFromage, when other circumstances means extra food! I reckon best way to to try and avoid the ‘sod it’ mentality ie be moderate at other times even if you know there won’t be a loss.

We’re heading away tomorrow so have come on to mark my weight before we go

SW 13st 6.5
CW 11st 10.5
TW 11st 3-7
Total lost for August: 2.5lb

Had a good first week in August (after a gain overall in July). Would love to get to 11.5 over the next few weeks!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 06/08/2021 12:23

That’s a good start to the month @holavida ! Good luck for the rest of August. You’re so right about the sod it mentality - I do tend to just give up when I fall off the wagon so am trying very hard to be mostly sensible in amongst all the holiday events!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 13/08/2021 07:03

Another week off the wagon…

SW 62.6kg
CW 57.8kg
Loss for August: a gain of 0.5kg, although that was all in the first week of the month.
GW 50kg

I’ve got a clear week without guests or socialising so am going to try to really focus this week.

HolaVida · 16/08/2021 08:21

SW 13st 6.5
CW 11st 13
TW 11st 3-7
Total lost for August: 0lb

Back from a week's holiday, gained the 2.5lb that I'd lost the first week of Aug.
Like you @DuPainDuVinDuFromage, I've got a clear week ahead, so am going to focus. I'm so close to the top end of where I'd like to be.

cricketmum84 · 20/08/2021 09:02

Sorry guys, I'm just really not in the right headspace to run another thread right now, happy to lurk along if anyone wants to set up for September though.

I really need to concentrate on nutrition, neuro rehab and physio at the moment and put weight loss on the back shelf until my health and mobility improve.

Sorry to leave you all in the lurch!

OP posts:
DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 20/08/2021 10:42

@cricketmum84 I was going to ask this morning if you were doing ok - hope you are alright and good luck with the areas you are focusing on x

I’m very much a newcomer to these threads and I don’t want to jump in and take over! Maybe someone else who’s been involved for longer will set up a September thread.

My weekly weigh-in stats for today (bit of a failure as I have discovered the delights of butter with salt crystals in, although I have managed to lose some weight):

SW 62.6kg
CW 57.0kg
Loss for August: 0.3kg
GW 50kg
