Losing up to a stone of baby weight

tigerbreadandtea · 13/05/2021 16:15

I'm a size 12 post baby but petite and feel frumpy. The weight gain has been my stomach and hips which I guess is to be expected. I am six months post partum but have never been on a diet in my life before and don't know how or where to start. Calorie count, more exercise? I want to get back down to a size 10

@Mc3209 I have made baby muffins (very adapted recipe, I went to the shop but forgot my list). They are very yummy. I may eat them all while she naps.
It was 2 eggs, 2 bananas, 2scoops smooth peanut butter, spoon of yogurt, cinnamon, 1 pouch of apple and pear purée, blend that together then fold in oats (I used ready brek because of the added iron) and then mix in 1/2 punnet of blueberries. They have a very cake like texture. Hoping some will last, we are going to lego land this weekend and want something easy for dd to snack on, other than bread sticks

I've lost six pounds since we started the theead. I'm so pleased because I've been really good.

So after a good start on Monday I’ve regressed. Hurt my back yesterday and fainted so partner spent all day plying me with carbs and biscuits to get my blood sugar up.

Today has been me sat on my arse all day resting my back so that’s not great either. Will weigh myself in the morning as planned but not holding out much hope.
Mainly just writing this down so I don’t give myself an excuse to give up, motivation needed for tomorrow!
Well done to everyone getting closer to their goals!

Hi, can I join please? :) I'm 4 months PP and I've put on more weight since giving birth than I did in my whole pregnancy (I only put on a stone and a half!).

Could we maybe share some recipes to motivate each other? :)

One of my go to teas is CHICKEN FAJITA RICE:

  • Fry the diced chicken.
  • Add peppers, onions. Though I guess you could maybe add some stir fry veg?
  • Once they're browned, add the fajita seasoning and mix well.
  • Serve with rice :)

Sorry to hear this, rest up and give your body what it needs. We will all have good weeks and bad weeks x

@Chillychili I didn't make the cookies in the end. Had a look at the amount of brown sugar in them, nearly fainted, and closed the recipe 😂 Those baby muffins sound delicious though!
@Piccalily19 hope you feel better, lovely. Those days happen, all part of the process.
@DocsRock hello ☺️ That recipe sounds good. Can you get fajita seasoning on its own?

I've slipped with the clean eating today. I had my second jab today and was all ready to weather the storm on a sofa, so I had a brioche. Big brioche. And I feel fine, could have done without this preemptive TLC! Tomorrow is another day.

I did, however, add my baby to my gym membership. Going there on Saturday to find out more about what baby friendly sessions are available. There is supposed to be Buggy Fitness, as well as Baby and Me (although the latter could be more playing rather than exercising.. don't know, will find out). I also booked myself for a Pilates class via live link. It will be my first proper Pilates session since early pregnancy!

You’re so lucky you can go to baby classes. I went to these on my eldest but they’re not in anymore in my area. I bring baby for a walk every day but I used to do a mother & baby spin class twice a week. Could do with that now!

@Mc3209 You can Smile Morrisons do a sachet of it for about 50p but I'm sure you can buy a jar of it too Smile

tigerbreadandtea · 10/06/2021 16:24

I'm finding it impossible to make time to exercise but am doing at least 10,000 steps a day walking with the pram. I am finding it quite easy to eat low carb but it does mean more top up shopping to have fresh salady bits in.

OP posts:
DocsRock · 11/06/2021 06:39

@tigerbreadandteati Where do you buy your fresh salad bits from? We've found Morrisons last most of the week Smile

Mc3209 · 13/06/2021 09:03

This morning's weigh in: 56.50 kg (ie some weight loss).
Onwards we march ☺️

Well done.. onwards and downwards 🎉
Mc3209 · 14/06/2021 17:26

Went to gym today. I nearly died 🤣 goodness me, I became so unfit! And I forgot to eat lunch..

Chillychili · 14/06/2021 21:17

Everyone sounds like they are doing great, I fell off the wagon. My period was due, it started with a box of chocolates last week, it has ended now with a box of Viennese whirls 😳. With multiple unhealthy take always
/treats chocolates (we went away) in between.

So I am back!
Well done @Mc3209
@tigerbreadandtea @Jacky86 I am also finding exercise hard, I wouldn’t use a gym membership enough, and all baby exercise groups down here have shut during lockdown, I am doing approx 5 miles walking 5 days a week (school run).
@Piccalily19 hope your back is better?
@DocsRock that sounds yummy, may have to try it

Just to say, I made those muffins but pancakes much easier to make.
Mash a banana, 1 egg, I use ready brek mix to batter consistency. Spinkle of cinnamon. Heat the frying pan I use butter, then fry. I make the batter thick, and have little fat pancakes, dd loves them. Can add chopped blueberries into them. I normally make loads and freeze them.

tigerbreadandtea · 15/06/2021 15:24

Anyone got any healthy but tasty dinner recipes? I'm sick of salad.

@tigerbreadandtea two chubby cubs have great recipes Smile

BattenburgBerry · 15/06/2021 16:04

Please can I join the chat, my postpartum diet started yesterday. Baby is 4 months old and I’ve got a stone to lose to get back to pre baby weight (another 4lbs lost would take me to pre lockdown weight!) I’m exclusively breastfeeding so am very cautious about cutting too many calories so my plan is to drink more water, eat healthily, slightly less carbs, more fruit and veg, no biscuits/cake and move more. Baby is getting better at day time naps now so I’d have time to fit in an exercise video on youtube or something. Any suggestions? Also going to wear my Fitbit again. Struggle in this heat though!
Good luck to you all, I just want my clothes to fit me!!

BattenburgBerry · 15/06/2021 16:06

@tigerbreadandtea I’m trying to replace carbs with veg, so last night was homemade bolognaise full of veggies, on top of courgette strips. It was really nice, and I didn’t feel bloated and too full afterwards. A good lunch is a grated carrot based salad, add tuna, spring onions, diced apple, any random bits from the fridge.

tigerbreadandtea · 15/06/2021 18:41

I had steak and cauliflower the other day instead of chips and my god I was bloated!

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 15/06/2021 22:01

Now I'm craving steak 🤤

Mc3209 · 15/06/2021 22:02

@BattenburgBerry if you are into yoga, Yoga with Adrienne is very good on YouTube.

Piccalily19 · 16/06/2021 07:00

@Chillychili much better thank you! Hoping to start exercise again in a couple of days.
Weights pretty much stayed the same annoyingly as I’ve have back on a lot but hoping adding in exercise will kick start it

tigerbreadandtea · 20/06/2021 07:39

How's everyone doing? I've plateaued. I've had a couple of nights out where I've drank wine and guess that's why. So hard to have a social life and lose weight. Also the rain has meant fewer steps outside.

Flumo · 20/06/2021 07:46

My baby is nearly 1, before having him I was 9 and a half stone and after was 12.6 😱 in the last couple of months I've been calorie counting, walking loads and running twice a week and I'm down to 10.3 👍 it definitely helps when your baby starts crawling/walking as you can never sit down 😅
