Oh god I need to weigh myself

Just that really. Did really well in lockdown #1 and actually lost weight. Felt fantastic and maintained for the rest of the year. But have basically spent the time since Christmas eating and avoiding the scales. My saving grace is that I have continued to exercise daily. I know I’ve gained muscle in my arms and legs through weight training but... sadly some (prob lots tbh) of it is also flab.

As my most slender I was 9 and a half stone. Maintained around 9 stone 12 which looked good on me. Now I think I’m somewhere around 11 + stone. Eeek. Starting my new healthy habits tomorrow so I need to weigh myself but....

Someone please hold my hand!

I feel your pain. I did the same except mine piled on comfort eating after the trauma of catching Covid-19. Starting tomorrow morning. Good luck

Sidewalksue · 11/04/2021 22:34

Snap. I was super fit this time last year. Got covid and haven’t been the same since. Need to get this fat off my body.

Campervan69 · 11/04/2021 22:36

Its so annoying. I was working out every day and felt the best I'd done for ages before I was ill. Now I've got it all to do again. A mountain to climb.

JWrecks · 11/04/2021 22:40

I'm in that spot myself. I hit the peri menopause (or should I say, it hit me ) and put on quite a bit of weight, going from a medium to an XL over the course of around 2 years. I'm very short, but I spent all but the last couple of years of my adult life at right around 8.5st, so fairly slim.

I've been soooo ashamed and nervous in that time that I simply CANNOT bring myself to look at a scale. If it's less than I expect, I know I would be encouraged, but I'm so terrified that it will be far more than I expect and I'll just break down. I don't know if I'll ever manage to look until I start seeing some visible results of my dieting and exercise.

As some wise woman on the internet once said, I wish I were as thin now as I was when I used to think I was fat! What a fool I was then!

chorusline79 · 11/04/2021 22:55

This was me today. Just grit your teeth get it over with tomorrow and then you know!
I was 9.7 stone this time last year, usual weight around 9.12 which I used to find reasonable maintenance wise. Weighed this morning for first time in ages and 10.6 Shock I have been in denial since Christmas but feeling like I am motivated to sort it out now as my clothes are getting very tight. I also feel very wobbly and big tum despite exercising.
Good luck OP, hope it's better than you think ( bloody lockdown!!)

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 12/04/2021 05:15

Well, as I thought. 11 stone and 1/4 pound. Could have been worse I suppose. I need to lose at least a stone. First goal is 10.7. Good luck everyone- we can do this.

I’m up at the crack of dawn to exercise and I’ve planned what I’m going to eat today so fingers crossed.....

Ah ha. I came on here this morning to see if anyone was in a similar situation to me.

Best weight is 9st 12. Jeans are tight and I'm feeling rather rotund. Weighed this morning as 10st 10.25lbs. Really kissed off with myself as for most of last year I sat at 10.4. It's just since Christmas I cannot stop eating. 10.10/25 takes me into the overweight category. With Covid risks that makes me nervous so I need a real focus.

I think I'm going to aim for 12lbs in 12 weeks. That would take me to mid June so I can be back at my fighting weight for Summer.

@SomewhereInAnotherLife what's your food plan for today? Here's mine:

B - Al bran, Greek yoghurt, blueberries, honey and orange juice

L - cheese salad, fruit.

T - leftover curry from Saturday. I'll skip the samosas and focus on the Dahl and Salad.

Jackielaffertyiscold · 12/04/2021 07:31

I’m in exactly the same situation too! 10.9 now, usually 9.7 Sad. Sorting myself out starting today!

SnarkyBag · 12/04/2021 07:32

Me too. I need to weigh myself but don’t want to!

Campervan69 · 12/04/2021 09:43

Weight this morning 12 stone. Want to lose 1 stone. Are we going to do this? Have done my morning Body Balance class.

Sweetener12 · 12/04/2021 11:09

Good luck but don't forget that numbers on scales aren't that meaningful! There are many factors that influence these numbers. I've read a story of a woman who lost about 30 lbs and then got 10 lbs back but stayed the same dress size because her weight come from weight trainings! In other words, it doesnt mean a lot.

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 12/04/2021 18:38

@flowerycurtain. I’m doing meal replacement shakes for a few days. I just want to break the habit of putting every passing morsel into my mouth! I’ll give it a go for 3 days and then see how I feel. Just trying to eat healthily wasn’t really working anymore as I was just snacking all the time. I need a strict plan to begin with! Today has been ok. I’ve been hungry at times but I need to remind myself that is no bad thing! Feeling pleased I’ve actually managed to stick to something. Even a day is an achievement at this point.

How is everyone else doing?

Campervan69 · 12/04/2021 20:06

I've stuck with it today. Doing a couple of weeks of Cambridge to try to shrink my stomach. I don't do well with SW or any diet where you can have unlimited free food. I overeat and don't lose.

Misspacorabanne · 12/04/2021 20:13

Can I join you! Need to lose another stone/1.5 stone! I have too much of a sweet tooth! Find I just want to pick at food in the evenings!

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 12/04/2021 20:36

Of course @Misspacorabanne! All welcome.

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 12/04/2021 20:38

@Campervan69 Yes those were my thoughts too. I’ve got some USN Diet Fuel powder to make my shakes. I have them for breakfast when I’m running late occasionally anyway. They’re not bad!

merrymelody · 12/04/2021 20:57

Hi everyone! Can I join too? I've been on WW since January but am not as strict with the points as I should be. Winter's been soooo long but warm weather is around the corner and I NEED to feel good in shorts and a t-shirt.

Campervan69 · 13/04/2021 09:18

I feel a sudden panic now the warm weather is on its way and there is the possibility of actually seeing real people again....

I actually really like the Cambridge shakes I have a smoothie mid morning and I do add some berries to it and ice makes a delicious milkshake. Then I can have some lean meat or eggs for lunch and a soup. And I have another smoothie around tea time and a long bath afterwords and an early night in bed watching Telly trying to avoid snacking.

This is only for the 1st couple of days while my appetite is adjusting.

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 13/04/2021 20:36

How did everyone do today? I had a good day good wise. Replaced my meals with shakes and had a couple of small healthy snacks (blueberries and nuts). I also weighed myself today. I know it’s water weight but even so it’s nice to see the numbers going down for a change!

OP posts:
SomewhereInAnotherLife · 13/04/2021 20:37

You’re very welcome @merrymelody. How did you do today?

I too am feeling the summer fear. I’ve got some lovely summer clothes and want to wear them without feeling self conscious.

Campervan69 · 13/04/2021 20:55

I've been really good today. Up at 7am to do my body balance class. Lots of cups of tea 🍵 smoothie at 11, chicken breast at 1, soup at 4 then just had my last smoothie.

SomewhereInAnotherLife · 13/04/2021 21:02

Great job Campervan! How long do you think you’ll keep going with the smoothies?

OP posts:
Campervan69 · 13/04/2021 21:23

Not sure, I actually love them. I also love the way the weight falls off if you stick with it. I did it last year, got to a great weight that I found easy to maintain until I got ill with Covid-19. It traumatised me tbh and I comfort ate. So got it all to do again which is annoying.

Andi2020 · 14/04/2021 12:26

Weighed this morning 11st 9
Have giving up all junk in March only lost 2lb.
Need to follow for motivation

Jackielaffertyiscold · 15/04/2021 06:51
