I don't need to lose a massive amount of weight but ideally would like to be half a stone lighter I'm 10.7 at the minute and would be almost in heaven if I could get down to 10st exactly!

I'm going to start on Monday and I am going to lose 7lb by Friday 14th December..

Would anybody else like to join me.. or just come here and abuse me to keep me on track?

Snacking on berries is good. Bluberries, blackberries, raspberries are naturally sweet and lovely to eat. It's totally guilt free or sins free. I also snack on apples and grapes, even tomatoes or carrots. I'm eating a lot of food and I couldn't share my pudding, that's for sure. In a way it's easier for me not to have it then to have some of it. I could eat 3 ice-creams - chocolate heaven or strawberry cornetto without stopping! i went out with friends the other day and they all opted for pudding - ice-cream, bread and butter pudding, otehr stuff and i just had my fruit salad without cream. I felt not sattisfied but I just thought if I had what they had I'd have 10 minutes of pleasure and the rest of the day beating myself up. Yes, there is always tomorrow but Christmas hasn't started yet and I'll have my in- laws staying with us for 2 weeks. They love their cups of tea and coffe with buiscuits and chocolates and we'll be having all this Chrismas food with turkey and pudding. I have to be a bit careful now or I'll get right back where i was before I started.

MascaraOHara · 07/12/2007 08:39

Hello everyone. I have definitely hit the sulky stage. I want to stamp my feet and huff and puff about it not being fair!

Feel like giving up until after Christmas when hopefully I'll have more time to get back into the gym.

hi all

well lastnights dinner was great although feel really bad today as ate loads!!
As you can imagine with mexican had pecan pie too,
i only had one cocktail then margaritas even though the cocktails were lovely think i ate a weeks worth of calories!!!

This morning started off a bowl of porridge with half a grated apple a handfull of blueberries and a few pumpkin seeds, no sugar dont eat artificial sweetners but was nice as the apple was sweet
Off to the gym now to work off some of that burrito
Good luck today

fedda · 07/12/2007 09:55

Hello, everyone. Hopefully we all fee better soon. I had ear ache yesterday and I was doing my magic tricks using hair dryer and putting a woolen hat on and some other stuff. It's better today but you never know. I'm fedda up with all theeeeese bugs! I had poridge with grapes and a spoon of honey. I know hunney is fattening but it's good for cold so that's my excuse anyway. I'll have chicken leg - left over from my tandori chicken for lunch and fish for dinner (must get some). Sorry to all the vegetarians. I can't live without meat. I tried sometime ago but i couldn't do it for more then 1 month. Anyway, good luck to us all.

NiftyNanny · 07/12/2007 11:50

Hmm, I think I'm coming down with a cold. Blah.

Mascara don't give up! Keep at it til Christmas because then it'll only be having a couple of days off and you won't even have to lose any more - you'll be maintaining it by having a cheeky couple of days off, that's the way I'm looking at it.

Looks like all my gym has paid off, I am 10.6 again this morning, even with my huge PMT boobs (I reckon they HAVE to weigh at least half a pound extra EACH. My boyfriend would agree....)

Today I had fromage frais and some granola & oats for breakfast, and a small apple.

Then lunch was salad salad salad with low fat cheese, and a little bit of sesame oil - it's got such a strong flavour you don't need much! Then some VERY low fat yoghurt and oats afterwards, with a spoonful of cranberry sauce. It's not a sugary as jam, and I like it mixed in with yoghurt! This one is mainly I think for cooking in Indian food, it's only 33cals per 100ml. Brill!

Feel totally full now and hoping to eat lots of fruit this afternoon and not anything else. Mum's coming tonight, so I will prob eat out over the weekend and not get to the gym. Hmmmm...... Mind you I am in rehearsals for 8 hours over the weekend so I can't go that badly wrong, I won't have a chance to get out and eat!

I am now obsessed with the "Make your own muesli" bar at Wholefoods Market where I got the granola. I want to go back and get more more more! It works out so much cheaper for things like the Southern Alps dried figs and so on - Cranberry charge about £1.29 per 100g and this is £3.99 per 500g, so I just add the cheapo rolled oats from Morrissons at 79p a kilo or whatever, and buy loads of lovely dried fruit and chopped dates to add to it - it's brilliant!

My only problem with snacking on blueberries etc - I love them, but they're WAY too expensive. I refuse to buy something that's £3 for that tiny litle box, I would rather eat a British apple

ELR · 07/12/2007 14:27

niffty--- blueberries were £1.30 at asda yesterday so got to boxes but they are finished already! Where is the wholefoods bar? i love granola i make it all the time to add to plain yogurt but its addictive!!
Fedda--- honey is not fattening and is better to sweeten with than sugar or artificial sweetener

For lunch i had a starbucks flatbread with falafel it was ok but so not worth £3 also had a satsuma and some blueberries

Trying to avoid a biscuit with my tea now so came on here instead!!

fedda · 07/12/2007 16:05

Thank you, ELR, it's nice to know. I found it impossible to drink tea on it's own so I have some unsalted nuts or dried fruit or pieces of an apple-fruit salad - literally anything healthy. It's hard though as buiscuits come to mind first. I've got sea bass for dinner which I'm going to have with tomato, avocado, cucumber, red and yellow peppers salad and asparagus. DH will also have home made French Fries but I'm still trying to avoid potatoes, rice, bread, cereal and pasta after 5PM, to be honest I'm trying to limit it all to minimum but again it's impossible sometimes.

Amandoh · 10/12/2007 09:34

Good morning,

I'm down to 9st 3lbs so that's a total loss of 3 and a half lbs.

Shall we have another weigh in on Friday as that's the 14th? I'm hoping that by exercising like a maniac I can drop another lb by then.

I have another lovely dress to get into on the 23rd Dec so does anyone else fancy carrying on this thread till then as ideally I'd like to get down to 8st 13lbs?

Also... Can anyone suggest an exercise that will work the inner thighs but not the front thigh muscles? I seem to have bulked up at the front but am not as toned as I'd like to be at the top inner thighs.

fedda · 10/12/2007 12:12

Congratulations! I'm happy for you. I haven't lost anything but I'm not giving up.

sweetheart · 10/12/2007 12:39

short post from me today - 1Ib on - fell like crap.

Dreadful week coming this week and already know I will probably gain again this week. Feel like I'm constantly battling the inevitable!

fedda · 10/12/2007 13:24

Hi, sweeetheart, I'm afraid we all have our ups and downs loosing weight and gaining it. I've stopped loosing and I'm slowly gaining at the moment but we can do it. Would you like to join me for vegie soups? They helped me in the past.

spokette · 10/12/2007 13:37

I've lost another 0.5lb so that is 3.5lb in total.

I'm going to keep going until February because I want to lose 14lb in total. I'm in the zone and don't want to lose my momentum.

ELR · 10/12/2007 14:00

hi

well as i only started on thursday cant really say loss but got weighed this morning and was 10st 10.5lb hope to lose a few pounds by next monday going out on friday so yes i think we should have a weigh day then too.
i will carry on with this till i lose 10lb!!!

NiftyNanny · 10/12/2007 14:23

I started my period early yesterday, o hopefully by Monday I will have shed the extra water retention etc and I will see some weight loss. I weighed myself the other morning and it was hovering around 11.4 - woooo! so a good loss, as I'd gone up to 11.10 at one point but didn't want to admit to gaining since we started this thread

I really really want to get down to 11 exactly. whoever asked - I'm 5'10" so it's quite a reasonable weight for me, though it does pain me to hear about you all saying you'd love to get down to 9 stone and so on, I am never going to weigh that! I also have loads of loose skin, if I was firm I'd probably be more like 10 stone but I have already lost 5 1/2 stones and unless I have it surgically removed I'm always going to carry a bit extra just in extra skin.

I am a bit nervous though, as I have been eating plenty of carbs through PMT. Going to do loads of exercise this week as have plenty of spare time. Come on girls, the final push!!

fedda · 10/12/2007 21:40

the same here and i ate today non stop!

MascaraOHara · 11/12/2007 09:09

Hi guys..I'm glad we've all stuck this far.. I haven't got on the scales this week. got period and feel v porky. Will join the final weigh in on Friday 14th as it was the target date but at the moment I think I'll just be greatful to have lost 1lb!!! grrr I'm so pleased for all of you who have achieved or nearly achieved your goal it's fatastic also am a little . You should all go and treat yourselves to a new christmas outfit!!!!!

OP posts:
sweetheart · 11/12/2007 10:58

OK, so yesterday I was sulking and bing very selfish so today I'm here to say

WELL DONE to everyone who lost weight this week - keep going!!!!!

I am feeling a bit better today. I didn't have anything to wat yeaterday until teatime and I also played netball last night. Today the scales are showing a 1 Ib loss (yes I know weight fluctuates from day to day but I just can't stop myself from getting on the scales in the morning!)

I'm sure it will say a Ib gain (if not more) by tomorrow morning as I have a meal out tonight. I am going home at lunchtime though to do some exercise so hopefully that will help.

I'll weigh in on Friday with everyone too. I'm going to try and keep going for a few days longer. I don't want the holiday feeling to set in too early! Easpeacilly with a new year ball to go to! I have to fit into a nice little dress!

Good luck to everyone this week!

fedda · 11/12/2007 11:09

Thank you, sweetheart, the same to you.

Amandoh · 12/12/2007 21:41

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all having a good week. Has the fact that we're nearing the 14th stirred up any extra enthusiasm to stick to your chosen weight loss plans?

I exercised furiously on Monday then went Christmas shopping yesterday. I was also hoping to find some shoes to match the bag I'd bought to use with the dress I was hoping to wear on the 14th. Unfortunately the only pair that were a good match were £149 in L K Bennett and I really didn't want to spend that much on shoes that might only get worn once a year.

I popped into Zara and ended up trying on a white ruffle front shirt and black pencil skirt. I tried it on with black and gold shoes and a wide belt and another customer told me I looked really good. It was lovely to get a compliment from a total stranger! I'm going to wear that outfit instead of the dress and save the dress for my birthday in Feb and hopefully I'll find the L K Bennett shoes in the Jan sales.

I hope this new found willpower stays with me as the dress I want to wear on the 24th is really tight across the chest. Fingers crossed that the next lb or so comes off my boobs!

BTW... I know a few of you are a little disappointed not to have lost as much as you had hoped but how are your clothes feeling? I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Zara size 12 skirt was very loose on me and that I really could have done with the 10 (None in stock). Even though the scales aren't showing a great loss you may have lost inches .

fedda · 12/12/2007 23:02

That's a good thought but no, checked a couple of times. I did loose some in the past after loosing 4 kg in total but now I'm still a way to go for size 12 and I doubt very much I'll ever be size 12 unless I go to Canada where size 10 is the same as size 12 here - at least that's what I thought when i bought my dress in 1997 while on holidays. Anyway, I'm here, girls. I'll try to stay positive.

ELR · 13/12/2007 12:21

fedda you have hit the nail on the head we all need to shop in the us or canada and we will be the size we want!!
got on scales today and have lost 1lb since last thurs but i ate like a pig lastnight

fedda · 13/12/2007 13:54

Congratulations, ELR! I like good news!

onefootinthegravy · 14/12/2007 11:23

Hi all - For about 4 years after having DD I have had an annoying 12 to 16 lb to lose - I've tried all sorts even the dreaded Atkins and have managed to lose up to 9lb of it at times and put some of it back on but always leaving half a stone left which I could never lose. I am sitting here now weighing one pound more than I did 7 years ago !!!! Wooohooooo !!!
For the last 8 weeks or so I've been having a big bowl of porridge in the morning each day - eat fruit during the day if I was hungry and then a sensible meal at night and its worked !!! No fads no bloody calorie counting I can't believe it and I'm well chuffed
