I don't need to lose a massive amount of weight but ideally would like to be half a stone lighter I'm 10.7 at the minute and would be almost in heaven if I could get down to 10st exactly!

I'm going to start on Monday and I am going to lose 7lb by Friday 14th December..

Would anybody else like to join me.. or just come here and abuse me to keep me on track?

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Spokette, the inch loss you've had is fantastic!

I'm not having a good day today. Didn't feel at all hungry earlier so didn't eat anything... so far so good. Went upstairs and found the fruit and nut bar my DP was munching on last night and I polished it off. I have no idea of the points value (I don't think I want to know to be honest) and I wasn't even hungry. Just saw it and fancied it. Does that happen to anyone else? Eating despite not being hungry?

Also, I have another small crisis. I have an ex boyfriend who I haven't seen since I was 19 coming over for lunch this coming week. He wants to come on Monday but I said I'd let him know over the weekend so am going to try to put him off till Friday. It's not that I want him to fancy me as I have a partner I'm very happy with but I don't want him to think "Lucky escape!" either. I really want to be closer to the 9st mark when we meet but as I was 9st 6lbs at last weigh in that's not going to happen .

On the plus side... I've discoverd WeightWatchers frozen chocolate eclairs! They're only 1.5 points each and are delicious. We're going to a friends for lunch tomorrow and I said I'd bring pudding. I'm going to take a cake for everyone else and a couple of eclairs for myself. I really really need to see a good loss this week!

Also, I ordered the Charlie Brooks Before and After DVD and it arrived yesterday morning so I did the whole workout (I was freezing when I started but ended up having to pause the DVD to open a window!). Bum is a bit sore today but I'm glad because it shows it's working! I really enjoyed the combat section so I'm going to do that again a few times later. I hope my enthusiasm doesn't wear off anytime soon.

Good luck over the weekend girls and may the scales be kind to us on Monday!

NiftyNanny · 24/11/2007 16:16

Hey Hey, did a power pump workout at the gym this morning and next week i'll stay for aerobics. Did have a wee bit too much to drink yesterday night followed by chocolates and irish coffee.... oh, and I made a tarte tatin but I used very thin puff pastry and halved the amount of sugar and butter as the last one I made was too sweet for me. My friend cooked pasta though, with loads of olive oil - something I never eat anyway as I am not a huge fan of pasta, and I always feel it's just stodgy and greasy......

this morning I had a bowl of porridge and then a lovely healthy bean casserole thing from the wholefoods shop in Hammersmith, but followed it up with two Greggs cookies and 4 espressos - oh, the joys of cold weather and hangovers! I do feel better for it though and I am not remotely hungry. I should last until a light supper today which should help ignore the cookies.

Just spent the last hour straightening my hair and getting ready to go to my friend's birthday party because I'm not babysitting til 8.30. I have no idea what time they'll be home, so I don't know if I can go back to the party. I obviously can't drink before babysitting so at least that's good! I might sit tonight out to be honest, the red wine last night was lovely but makes me VERY sleeeeeeeeeeeeepy today.

Ho hum. Hope evryone else is getting on OK over the weekend. How are you all finding the social engagements? Do you try and eat less if someone's cooked something a bit on the "oof" side or just chill and go back to a healthy plan the next day?

Don't you find the cold weather makes you hungrier? Or am I just looking for excuses!?

sweetheart · 25/11/2007 00:14

Hey guys, well done to those of you who have managed to be good! I went food shopping on Friday and brought all ww meals for next week. Have decded to take things a bit easy this weekend - had a 3 course meal with friends last night which probably didn't do me any good and also had a friend round tonight whist dh was out - we managed to polish off a couple of bottles of wine which isn't very good.

I have been nt hungry at all today but still managed toe at 3 meal which isn't good! Didn't want any of them but still ate them Typical sign of habit eating for me! Family meal times and all that!

Anyway, scales will show a bad result come Monday but I have high hopes for next week - I'm drink now so going to bed - good luck everyone!!!!!

Final note after a rant - lets all make Spookette goddess of the week and plan to follow in her footsteps!!!!!! She is our hero!

Amandoh · 25/11/2007 18:31

Hi all,

Sundays are hard diet wise aren't they. I've eaten loads. We went to a friends house for lunch I've had biscuits, a big roast dinner, a huge chunk of carrot cake then a handful of Minstrels. I'd intended to take some WW eclairs with me so as to avoid the cake but I forgot. It was a lovely meal but I'm feeling a bit cross with myself now. Hey Ho. Weigh day tomorrow!

MascaraOHara · 26/11/2007 09:55

So fed up I haven't even read the other posts yet.. I have put on the measly 1lb I lost

OP posts:
sweetheart · 26/11/2007 10:01

MOH - oh dear! Shake it off and get the will power to have a really good week this week!

I have lost 1 Ib - not great but it's a start at least. It could have been better if we hadn't decided to go out for dinner last night! I even had a pudding which I shouldn't have . Still we have a ww week planned this week so I have high hopes for a good loss. I'm aiming for between 3 and 4 Ibs to get me back on track.

Today I'll have soup for lunch and probably something like sheppards pir for tea with loads of veg and a yorkshire pud to make it a bit more appealing.

I'm also going to do 45 mins of Tao Bo at lunchtime.

Thats my plan for the whole week - I will loose some weight!!!!!!!!

spokette · 26/11/2007 10:25

Hi

I've not lost anything. Was disappointed initially but then remembered that I ate out in restaurants on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!! My evening outs are like buses, nothing for 6 months and then 3 on consecutive days.

At least I did not put on any weight so back on track now. I had a small bowl of bran flaakes with skimmed milk for breakfast, lunch will be cous-cous with roasted veg followed by apple, plum, tangerine, grapes and pineapple. Dinner will be keema curry with basmati rice.

Plan to also go the gym at least once this week and work out to DVDs a couple of times. At the moment I'm loving my TaeBo Celebrity Sculpt, it is brilliant.

Amandoh · 26/11/2007 11:54

Morning Girls,

I've managed to lose 1 and a half lbs this week.

Stats:

Height: 5'4"
Start weight: 9st 6 & a half lbs
Current weight: 9st 4 & a half lbs
Current loss: 2lbs

Spokette & Mascara ~ Don't get disheatened! I felt a bit cross with myself last week when I only lost half a lb but it served to make me more determined to see a good loss this week.

Sweetheart ~ Well done on your loss. 1lb off is great! None of us are very heavy to start with which makes the weight loss harder than someone weighing a few stone more.

We've still got another 3 weeks till the 14th. We could all realistically shift another 4-5lbs by then. I'm off to have a boiled egg and WW toast then if I can find something to occupy my 20mth old I shall do the Charlie Brooks DVD again.

Good luck for the rest of the week

spokette · 26/11/2007 14:48

I am aiming to lose 4lb by 14th. Focus, focus, focus!!!

NiftyNanny · 27/11/2007 07:56

I could cry, I have gained weight - 4lb! How? There is no way I have eaten and drunk enough to gain 4lb! That's nearly 15,000 calories!

I don't understand how I manage to gain weight, even when I joined WW and went to meetings, I followed the plan to the letter and managed to gain 2lb in one week, after a 5lb loss.

I know I have been eating weird stuff, snacking on cereal in the afternoon, so maybe I will try extra hard to stick to "normal" three meals and one snack of fruit between each one. and NO alcohol!!

Then again I could weigh myself in three days and find I've gone down again....

I could cry, scream, and punch something all at once.

On the plus side, I ran all the way to the gym yesterday and did a class, and some weights, I also went on Saturday and I am going to go for a run this morning once I'm done at work (I never usually can run - manage 3 mins max on treadmills, so I don't know what's going on). Tomorrow I think I will definitely go inbetween my two jobs, I should really go today. God, I feel like such a failure. I'm pretty sure it's drinking, you're all doing so well and I have actually gained weight. Bah.

Amandoh · 27/11/2007 12:38

Awww Nifty (hugs)

Perhaps it's the old "muscle weighs more than fat" devil at work? You have been exercising lots. Or could you be retaining fluid? Does something you're eating (or ate the day before weigh in) have a high salt content?

I did a daft thing. We went out to dinner last night and I ate for England (and probably a small Principality too!). Just out of interest I got on the scales this morning and I'm 2lbs heavier than yesterday morning! That's my 2lb loss back on in one meal! Luckily I don't feel at all hungry today so will try to eat very sparingly when I (inevitably) do start to feel peckish.

Hope the rest of you are doing ok

NiftyNanny · 27/11/2007 20:26

Might be water retention but more likely to be alcohol retention. Huh!

I've been good today, I had a Bugsy sandwich and a Shapers bar in a Boots meal dead for lunch, a banana, and then a slice of bread and some salad-ish veggies for dinner, followed by a yoghurt.
I haven't been exercising THAT much recently, but I found a new exercise DVD in Oxfam today - Suzanne Cox "The Fix" - it's got three 20 minute workouts so that should be a lot easier to fit in when I stay at home. She was Vogue in Gladiators! I bet it's rubbish, but hopefully the exercises will be OK.

I just have to buckle down and stop lying to myself, just be very strict. Meeerrrgghhh.

Still appetite is quite low so hopefully I will be able to get through this week tee total, and angelic! It's the alcohol that does it, I think........ so no drinkies for me!

Amandoh, I'm sure you'll erm.... lose it again... probably (ahem) quite naturally tomorrow morning! hahaha.

NiftyNanny · 28/11/2007 07:18

Scarily enough, I am back to 11.7 this morning, so I haven't lost anything overall but at least I'm the same. Freaky. Hope the same happened for you Amanda x sure it will....

sweetheart · 28/11/2007 18:34

NN - Don't worry about the weight gain, perhaps it was just an "off" day - are you due on or anything? I hope you have managed to get yourself back on track and not let the dissapointment ruin your week.

Amandoh - I weight myself every day and my weight often fluctuates. I think it has alot to do with if your feeling bloated or need the toilet - meal sizes etc etc. I weight daily to make sure I'm staying on track but I only count my weekly weights as the real deal because I can loose 4-5Ibs during the week and they all go back on at the weekend!

I am having a great week so far. I have had less than 18 ww points each day so far and I did Tae Bo Mon and Tue. I was supposed to come home today and do it but I got a crisis call from a friend who needed a chat. I resisted the temptation of a sandwich in Starbucks and stuck to a fruit pot for lunch instead Glad I did now as I've just relised the sandwich I was going to have was about 8 points!

Not too much on this weekend either so with any luck I can avoid the temptation to be naughty and have a great weigh in on Monday.

NiftyNanny · 30/11/2007 07:41

Good luck sweetheart... weekends are the worst, eh? I think weight gain takes about a week to show up, so if you overdo it at the weekend it's most likely to be, as you say, water retention or something like a big meal still in your system.

Hmmm, I am going well this week, ran all the way to the gym (I can't manage more than 3 mins on a treadmill - woo hoo!) and then did a class on Monday, Tuesday I didn't go but I went Weds and Thurs! I did aerobics, which was so cheesy, just jumping up and down for 45 minutes waving your arms in the air - hilarious! I'm having today off then going tomorrow morning for a toning class then more aerobics. I think I might have to give aerobics a miss next week because I feel too stupid!

How bad is this though - I turned down an invitation to a friends house on Saturday night as I've been asked to babysit - I reason that it's better for me to earn money than eat and drink lots, even though it's nearly Christmas and I should be socialising! My boyfriend is going without me!

sweetheart · 30/11/2007 10:16

NN - Well done, now thats what I call detirmination!

When I was following ww after I had ds I used to turn down going out for meal alot. I would join them for drink afterwards and it really worked!

Your gym workouts sound great. I've only managed 2 Tao Bo dvd's this week but I've been so good with my food I think it's ok. I'll try and fit more in next week.

Just been shopping and brough another load of ready meals. I find having the portions done for me a big help, otherwise I tend to pile my plate high

Off to see Take That in concert tonight so I'm going to be really good all day so I can have a take out in London.

Good luck for the weekends guys! Stay strong!

NiftyNanny · 02/12/2007 14:39

Aaaargh! I am jealous - I was never into take that when I was a teenager, more of a Blur and Pulp girl. But now - it must be nostalgia or something, but I keep thinking, "ooh their new album is good, and I know all the words to the old ones...." and I quite fancy seeing them! Not enough to fork out, so I will live vicariously through you and you have to tell me what they're like!

I've been OK this week though hit the 2 week mark in my cycle which results in lots of water retention - my boobs are already up a size and painful. Huh. Not even due for another fortnight.

Had to have a chocolate bar and loads of carbs on Friday but now I'm going to try and eat really healthily without counting, and do plenty of exercise. Hopefully I will see the results the week after my period.

I also caught RedHead's thread on this forum which really made me think. I am quite hapy at this size, but I'd like to be a LITTLE bit more toned and a LITTLE bit more slinky for Christmas. I think it's the idea that I will be a complete sloth for 2 weeks and eat all the yummy stuff on offer that's making me want to keep on the straight and narrow this month.

Did a dancy class at the gym yesterday, it was advertised as Aerobics, but the girl was this statuesque black chick who taught us a hip hop routine, I felt ridiculous but it was good fun! She really went flat out with the aerobic section of the workout! Plus, had a new instructor for Body Pump who focused on technique and was really flirty with all the ladies. I thoroughly recommend finding an instructor who doesn't shy away from stroking your shoulder while he corrects your posture - it's a great motivator!! haha.....

Amandoh · 02/12/2007 22:29

You have my sympathy on the water retention front Nifty. I'm just starting period today and have water retention in my legs and bum. It's really quite painful when I stand. Have a horrible tummy ache too and although I didn't feel like eating earlier once the food was out I went for it and had lemon torte to finish! We had some friends over today and they left us a box of biscuits so while I snuggled up on the sofa to watch Cranford I nibbled (Is half a box a nibble?) at them. Not looking forward to weigh day tomorrow. Big meal, cake, biccies and water retention aren't exactly scales friendly. We shall see!

MascaraOHara · 03/12/2007 09:16

Hi guys - not posted for a while. Will get weighed, get a coffee and come catch up on what you've all been doing.

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 03/12/2007 09:55

Well I'm still exactly 10.7.. what was it I said in the thread title something about it just not shifting!

I'd been really good last week as well but did go out to eat twice at weekend.

very demoticating though

OP posts:
sweetheart · 03/12/2007 10:11

2 Ibs off, 3 in total! Down to 10St 2Ib Although considering how good I was last week I am slightly miffed as I think I could have lost more!

I have another week of ww ready meals planned [dull emotion!!!]] so hopefully by next Monday I'll be down to 10St.

It's my sisters birthday on Friday and my sons on Saturday so don't expect too much from next week - lots of cake and party food!!!!!

NN - you'll be please to hear the Take That concert was good. Mark is still sexy - swoon!!!!! It was like being 15 again

Re Water retention - I don't think I suffer?!?!?! My body doesn't seem to change much and I don't have periods so I can't really tell when my cycle is! Aren't there tablets you can take though for those of you who do suffer?

sweetheart · 03/12/2007 10:13

Oh also - just a thought. How tall do you think Davina McCall is? I was reading an article with her yesterday and in it she said she weighs 10St 4Ibs. I always think she looks pretty amazing for a woman with 3 kids - do you think she's super tall so carried her weight well.

She also said she's a size 10 top and 12 bottom. I vary from an 8-10 top and a 10-12 bottom so I must e about the same as her - right???? I'd like to think so anyway!

spokette · 03/12/2007 10:46

I have not lost anything but I have just started my period and my tummy is round and hard like a football. So uncomfortable.

NiftyNanny · 03/12/2007 11:17

I haven't lost anything either, but as I said my boobs have gone up a size and are now painful, so I am in the zone for water retention. Huh. I will have to drink pints and pints of it and see whether that helps, weigh myself again tomorrow.

On the up side I have lost an inch off my bottom!

Just been given the day off, too - which means I can go to the gym in the afternoon and do plenty! I have some new exercises to tone up my tummy as my abs are out of balance with my back muscles apparently.

I suppose I could even go to a lunchtime class if I get my skates on!

Amandoh · 03/12/2007 13:48

Hi Girls,

I've gained half a lb. Back up to 9st 5lbs. I do have my period though and am retaining fluid on my legs and bum AND ate a huge lunch yesterday so I wasn't expecting a loss.

Stats:

Start weight ~ 9st 6 & and half lbs.
Height ~ 5'4".
Current weight ~ 9st 5lbs.

I don't understand why I'm struggling to lose this half a stone. I'm normally so disciplined with my weight. I can't see that I'll shift it by Dec 14th but I really have to lose it by the 23rd as I've got to get into another dress!

Sweetheart ~ 2lbs off... Well done you! Davina is 5'7" so taller than average.

Mascara ~ Keep at it! I know it's a dull mantra but "Eat less. Move more". It will shift!

Nifty & Spokette ~ Periods and water retention are the bane of my life! Don't get disheartened. If you're eating sensibly and exercising regularly then you should see a good loss next week.

I'm off to wash down a couple of Neurofen with a few pints of water!
