Just wondering if anyone has had any success with this? Thinking the side effects might be manageable while working from home.

I didn't notice much change.

But oh god. You will want long pads in your pants because you'll be innocently sat there at your computer, squeeze the tiniest of farts out, and shat yerself orange goo. It stains.

It's one of those things you can laugh about. Unless you were wearing your favourite jeans, or sat on a non leather sofa.

I won't touch it now.

Sweetener12 · 23/03/2021 04:57

Sponge is right, the side effect is laughable but it's really uncomfortable

Dugee · 23/03/2021 05:44

Yes I've read up. Never trust a fart Grin while taking it.

Just wondering if it's worth it from a weight loss perspective.

I'd be interested to know how you get on.

I read online that you should try it for 3 months and if it doesn't work after 3 months it won't work for you.

Thinking of trying it to give my weight loss a boost.

Dugee · 23/03/2021 19:11

I've ordered some online (along with some long sanitary towels 😃). Will let you know how I get on.

I didn’t think it was doing anything when I tried it so tested it with a curry. That was a mistake! Shock. Do not be tempted to do the same!

EvilEye · 23/03/2021 20:30

Try bootea if you want to lose weight via shitting yourself with no notice. It's cheaper!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 23/03/2021 20:36

It made no difference for me. Nothing. But it did seem to kill my metabolism for a few months afterwards, so nothing else worked either.

And the side effects are horrendous. I didn’t even have them badly, but they make you feel vile.

Dugee · 23/03/2021 21:30

Well they arrive on Thursday. I've got about a stone to lose. A stubborn stone and I'd like to lose it over 3 months. Hoping this will give me a boost.

Dugee · 29/03/2021 18:14

Well I started them on Saturday, I tend to eat a low fat high fibre diet (although too much sugar). I had no side effects over the weekend but we have just had a McDonald's for dinner, so we will see how I am in 24 hours.

@Dugee can I ask how you've got on if you don't mind? I'm seriously considering trying orlistat as I've been doing calorie counting and exercise and I seem to have hit a plateau 😣

Happycat1212 · 08/04/2021 21:22

Just to say bootea no longer contain laxatives so won’t make you lose weight or shit yourself

Moondust001 · 08/04/2021 21:28

You aren't taking it with every meal, are you? It isn't necessary to if your normal meals are low fat - orlistat only works by preventing all the dietary fat in a meal being absorbed by your body. If there is no fat, there is nothing for it to do. I'm pretty sure that the instructions tell you that.
picklemewalnuts · 08/04/2021 21:28

I've been on them since November. I don't have side effects, but neither do I eat high fat foods.

Twinmummyanda4yearold · 08/04/2021 21:51

@picklemewalnuts have you managed to lose weight using orlistat?

FenceSplinters · 08/04/2021 21:57

I bet the orange oil was dripping out after the Maccy D’s!

waitingpatientlyforspring · 08/04/2021 22:01

I did years ago, I found it made me have a better diet as I didn't want any bad side affects. I only once had an issue after a night out inna hotel so meal then cooked breakfast so clearly to much fat. It was fine though as the 'results' just splattered the toilet 😂

picklemewalnuts · 09/04/2021 07:38

I'm 3 stone down, following slimming world. I've had the odd chinese, etc, but very small portions. Chocolate doesn't seem to have caused a problem.

I'd say 'issues' were more noticeable at first- I was careful the first few weeks. I don't even think about it now.

Arbadacarba · 09/04/2021 07:41

I tried it three years ago (over the counter version which is half the strength of the prescription one) . I was 1.5 stone overweight at the time. I lost no weight and had oily orange stuff dribble from my bum at random moments.

Dugee · 10/04/2021 09:59

I'm getting on ok.

I'm taking one with every meal, as the instructions say that each pill stops 30% of the fat you eat from being absorbed by your body.

If I have a fatty meal I have a beige poo a couple of hours later. No orange oil, no diarrhoea, no accidents. I poo more (twice a day instead of once) but it is t uncontrollable.

I've lost 3.5 lbs in 2 weeks. I've upped my exercise too

OP posts:
Dugee · 10/04/2021 10:08

It depends how much fat you eat but I think orlistat reducing my fat intake by 30% probably saves about 150 Cals per day. So 1050 per week. It's not a magic pill but it seems to be working alongside a modified diet and an increase in exercise.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 10/04/2021 12:16

That's my experience too, Dugee. I think it probably just adds a little to the effect of the diet, so you don't get those occasional plateaus and disappointing weeks. It also helped when I was a bit constipated after a month of SW! My gut prefers more bread, so I struggled a bit.

I do wonder if it stops being effective after a while- I've noticed the paleness has stopped.

Dugee · 10/04/2021 14:31

@picklemewalnuts

I think you're supposed to stop taking it after 6 months, don't know if that's because it stops being effective after 6 months though. I'm hoping to lose a stone in 3 months - by my calculations orlistat should shift 4 lbs and my other efforts 10lbs of that stone.

Once I've lost that stone, I'm considering keeping it and taking it when I have a fatty meal - a meal out or a take away.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 10/04/2021 17:43

Hmm. I'll have to try and hold a few back for that!

Dugee · 11/04/2021 23:37

@sweetvanilla

Hope this works.
