Just wondering if anyone has had any success with this? Thinking the side effects might be manageable while working from home.

You aren't taking it with every meal, are you? It isn't necessary to if your normal meals are low fat - orlistat only works by preventing all the dietary fat in a meal being absorbed by your body. If there is no fat, there is nothing for it to do. I'm pretty sure that the instructions tell you that.

This is incorrect.

The instructions say to take with meals that contain 1 - 15g of fat. Most meals contain at least 1g of fat.

How are you getting on OP? I lost 9kgs in 3 months on Orlistat, then 6kgs in the next 3 months. I was really pleased. Seem to be keeping it off too but if I will take it again if I start to gain weight.

I'm doing good thanks. Premenstrual (which usually makes me put on a couple of pounds) but despite that I'm down 5 lbs in 3.5 weeks. Hopefully more, once the bloat goes Grin.

Glad it's working for you. I calorie counted and used Orlistat. It's the only thing that worked for me. Good luck!

Dugee · 29/04/2021 20:42

4 weeks and 7.5 lbs down. I'm very pleased.

I have had it and it worked for me. I didn't get the nasty side effects that people report but I generally eat quite sensibly and if I had a takeaway or something I would skip it.

Along with calorie counting I lost a lot of weight and got down to a point where they wouldn't prescribe me it anymore as my BMI was under the cut off.

@Dugee did you shift that stone? I’ve ordered some and have a stone to lose. I did try them 20 years ago and remember the side effects!

Is anyone else having problems sleeping?
I'm getting to sleep fine but waking up really early and not able to get back to sleep so getting about 5 hours! Really starting to impact me.

Grenola · 20/06/2021 20:25

I know this is an oldish post.... But just wonder how you all got on?

Just wondering how soon do the dreaded side effect take to come on after eating if there is too much fat in?

I've done fine with a week of very tho fat, but at lunch was a higher than usual fat content and just wondering when/if you had tummy and pooh issues?!

@Greybeardy

I didn’t think it was doing anything when I tried it so tested it with a curry. That was a mistake! Shock. Do not be tempted to do the same!
😂😂😂 omg you didn't!

It didn't do much for me really. I stopped taking it because I was working in social housing and was up and down the estate and in people's houses all day and not next to the toilet.
