What would it be?

OP posts:
2typesofjungle · 26/02/2021 20:45

Calorie defecit.

wellthatsunusual · 26/02/2021 20:47

Calorie deficit and get loads of your calories from protein because whilst a calorie is a calorie, protein feels more filling and you're less likely to reach for a snack.

NotSeenBulling · 26/02/2021 20:47

Understand that to access and use body fat you have to lower insulin because insulin keeps the fat where it is. The only way to lower insulin is to reduce carbs. It's not calories in/calories out.

FusionChefGeoff · 26/02/2021 20:48

Write down everything that passes your lips. Ideally with a calorific value attached but even if it's just a list - it really helps you to eat more mindfully

Oh and use small plates and bowls.

truetuesdays · 26/02/2021 20:49

Stop forcing myself to eat things I don't like; I.e salad

I can eat a ham sandwich and 2 packs of crisps for my lunch and Aldi lasagne for dinner and a club bar with tea before bed and still lose weight

Down two stone since September from this mindset

truetuesdays · 26/02/2021 20:51

And another although not completely diet related per se

Cardio is pointless don't do it

Get a set of 3kg weights from Amazon and do 10 mins a day of weighted squats or bicep curls

You will get such better results

Kidssendingmenuts · 26/02/2021 20:54

Drink plenty of water!

BarryTheChopper · 26/02/2021 20:56

There is no wagon.

That, and don’t let a bad choice become a bad day, become a bad week. Write it off.

BronnauMawrion · 26/02/2021 20:57

Glass of water before each meal.

truetuesdays · 26/02/2021 20:59

Final one from me

You have to be hungry to be losing weight
Hunger is your bodies way of trying to maintain your current weight

If you are hungry you are losing weight

ImnotCarolineHirons · 26/02/2021 21:02

Lowish carb has worked best for more people I know than anything else. Protein is much more filling than carbs.

Don't eat after tea/dinner time. Give your digestion system a rest and a chance to digest overnight without more snacks late at night.

Susie477 · 26/02/2021 21:03

We all have foods which are our weaknesses. For many people, it’s chocolate, but for me it’s bread & beer. I found the only way to lose weight was not to have them in the house at all.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 26/02/2021 21:04

Never eat between meals.

Sorry, but that’s just not true.

Feeling hungry messes with your mind and is not sustainable. Starving yourself might make you lose weight temporarily but it won’t keep it off, and all you’ll do is mess with your blood sugar.
Plenty of protein, low booze and low carb/sugar will do the trick and you NEVER have to go hungry.

Thinkivepulledsommat · 26/02/2021 21:06

I’d also add - walking briskly in the morning for a good 45 minutes before you’ve had breakfast is the best way to burn fat. (Google ‘fasted walking’)

If you don’t buy it you can’t eaten.
I go to the shops with a strict list and don’t buy anything that’s not on the list.

Polkadotties · 26/02/2021 21:13
  • can’t eat it
CustardCreamm · 26/02/2021 21:28

Write down everything you eat, like a food journal or My Fitness Pal - can easily see where your calories are coming from & therefore where you may be going wrong!

Drink plenty of water.

Soontobeseller · 26/02/2021 21:29

Find out your TDEE. You can’t just pluck a figure out the air and decide that’s your calories cos it’s a bit less than you normally have. Yes it will work for the people who do end up in a deficit but it’s better to know the numbers.

Loopyloututu2 · 26/02/2021 21:36

I’m not keen on water so have soda water with sugar free squash (I like summer fruits) instead - I drink icy glasses of it of an evening and it stops me from snacking.
Also strict-ish mealtimes and planning what I’m going to eat - for me having certain times to eat lunch, have a coffee, afternoon snack etc and knowing what I’m having make it easier for me to stick to because I feel more organised.

If you are hungry you are losing weight

Feeling hungry is your body's way of telling you that you are running out of sugar, and you need to eat more, or else it will start to burn its fat.

Feeling hungry is your body's way of stopping you from burning its fat.

Feeling hungry is something that a sugar addicted body does habitually at certain times of day, when it has come to expect food, using ghrelin release.

If you eat food that encourages your body to learn to use its fat, you will lose weight without hunger.

In other words, you are wrong on a number of counts.

RedRec · 26/02/2021 21:42

Don't snack.

NovemberR · 26/02/2021 21:42

Stop eating sugar.

Eckhart · 26/02/2021 21:45

Calories from different foods take more energy to process than others.

So

If you eat 100kcal of carbs, you burn about 10% making them into potential fat.

If you eat 100kcal of fat, you burn about 30% making them into potential fat.

The calories you eat, therefore, does not accurately reflect the calories you expend.

Also, the body can do very little with carbs, and everything with protein and fat.
