What would it be?

OP posts:

Don’t eat unless you’re actually hungry.

Gordonsgrin · 26/02/2021 23:31

Allays eat sitting down and off a plate, this cuts out a lot of the snacking!

Alternista · 26/02/2021 23:33

Menu planning and a weekly online food shop from that menu plan.

Gigia · 26/02/2021 23:33

Weight training- lift heavy, build muscle, look better and can still eat plenty

LApprentiSorcier · 26/02/2021 23:35

@Gigia If you are a total novice, how is it best to start weight training - are there any online resources you would recommend?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/02/2021 23:36

@Eckhart

Why is it so hard, *@SchrodingersImmigrant*? If you buy fresh, you can cook anything. Where do you struggle?
Well yes, but I don't cook just from fresh. It means no coconut milk for example. Or other basic ingredients. The moment you get out of veg and fruit aisles and meat one, it is pretty difficult if basically impossible to find single ingredient items in my experience.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/02/2021 23:37

Maybe my asda tho. It's pretty shit lately

ethelredonagoodday · 26/02/2021 23:38

@wellthatsunusual

Calorie deficit and get loads of your calories from protein because whilst a calorie is a calorie, protein feels more filling and you're less likely to reach for a snack.
This. Reduce your calories snd choose wisely!
SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/02/2021 23:39

Thanks @LApprentiSorcier
I agree especially about the diary!
That must be hard at times though. Kudos to you

LApprentiSorcier · 26/02/2021 23:40

Schroders Are you vegetarian/vegan? I'm an omnivore which probably makes it easier, although I am going heavier on the veg than the meat simply because it's cheaper. If you are not a vegan, eggs are a really good staple.

Rainbowsandstorms · 26/02/2021 23:41

Eat real unprocessed food if you do this most of the time you will loose weight without calorie counting or following a diet even with the odd treat in there too and it’s sustainable. That and don’t let a bad day become a bad week.

DenisetheMenace · 26/02/2021 23:42

If it’s not sustainable long term, it just won’t work. Slow and steady. Activity is your friend.

PickAChew · 26/02/2021 23:43

Don't eat too much.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/02/2021 23:45

Oh no. I am very much anything bar mushrooms and avocado. 😂 But I like my stuff like bread and sriracha sauce and so on. Tried to make chili sauce. Ended up with something delicious but mweapon of mass distraction grade😂

As I said. Kudos to you! 😁

Madhatterhouse · 26/02/2021 23:45

You don’t have to like it, you just have to do it.

Gigia · 26/02/2021 23:47

@LApprentiSorcier assuming you are in the UK with gyms closed the best way to build up strength at home is a combination of bodyweight exercises and resistance bands. A good app to use is Courtney Black, she is a PT and offers daily workouts and also a food plan. She has adapted all her exercises so that they can be done at home. Alternatively there are loads of youtube videos. When you can get back in the gym compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, bench press really help build muscle.

Saviouronthreelegs · 26/02/2021 23:47

Be honest with yourself about what you're eating. When I'm losing weight it's because I'm tracking everything on MFP. When I'm coasting, I take a long hard look at myself and realise I'm secretly eating a bit here and a bit there which isn't getting logged and thus my calorie intake is actually a lot higher than I'm admitting to.

She says having snaffled a few biscuits in the work lunch room and had a buttered roll this evening which haven't been logged Blush

Eckhart · 26/02/2021 23:50

@SchrodingersImmigrant

Just did 2 minutes research and found that coconut cream contains just coconut. You can easily make it into milk by adding water.

You might just need to investigate better.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 26/02/2021 23:51

16/8 intermittent fasting! It involves eating only during an eight-hour window during the day and fasting for the remaining 16 hours. It may support weight loss, improve blood sugar, boost brain function and increase longevity. I swear by this! Lost 6 kgs so far

Which one. Because the ones I saw in shops had emulsifiers in it too.

LApprentiSorcier · 26/02/2021 23:57

Thank you @Gigia. In non-Covid times I enjoyed swimming, but my muscles have gone to pot in lockdown, I will check out your recommendation.

Avoiding bread is hard, @SchrodingersImmigrant, as I do really like it. What I've done is frozen individual slices in freezer bags from a good quality wholemeal loaf so that I can allow myself a slice as a 'treat' now and then but it has to be considered (i.e. defrosted!).

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 00:00

@LApprentiSorcier honestly, it's really impressive! I lowered lots of the things but there is just no way I can get to nothing over 1 ingredient. I did lower a lot of the process food consumption though. Agree what you written above. The more natural the more satisfying.

Fat is your body's emergency fuel storage. When you lose weight, your body won't suddenly start burning up your muscles while ignoring the fat round your middle & arse... that's what it laid down all the fat stores for. Eat sufficient protein, do some exercise, various types, & you'll maintain plenty of muscle mass.
