Fit by end of lockdown

applepineapple · 05/01/2021 20:18

I want to use lockdown 3 to work on my goals and get fit! I was doing really well until Xmas, at 56.9 and yesterday I was at 59.6!

I'm hoping this thread will keep me accountable along with calorie tracking on Lose It and my exercise classes (back on zoom, boo!)

Fresh start from tomorrow with a weigh in ready for the next 5 1/2 weeks or so GrinGrin

Good start this morning, weighing in at 58.8, pleasantly surprised!

30 min HIIT done, feeling awake now! Will go on a long walk around lunch and that will be my exercise for the day Grin

I’m planning to do the same, I’m hoping to use lock down as a chance to get fit and lose some weigh as I really have no excuses now!

SingToTheSky · 06/01/2021 11:34

Well done! I got fitter than I had been for years in lockdown 1 but it’s totally lapsed now and I’m back to having to stop when walking home 🤦🏻‍♀️

10kaDay · 06/01/2021 14:29

I'm also planning to use this lockdown to get really fit & shed 2 stone (sorry to say, in London so expect we will have either lockdown or Tier 4 til end of March so 3 months is plenty)

Idea is workout 45 mins in the am, 30 min walk after lunch, couple of active breaks in day (either a walking video for 10 mins, or possibly using a mini stepper while on zoom calls) =10K steps a day

I have a friend who is a fitness instructor - she's actually too busy to take me on weekly but I might ask her to do a session with me 1x month so I have an objective view of if I am getting fitter... I trained with her & did a bit more exercise in lockdown 1, lockdown 2 however was a calorie-laden sedentary disaster

Doing dry January & thinking of making it dry Jan/Feb/March.

Obviously I hate living under restrictions, but the ability to control own schedule & lack of a social life (& so drinking) is a good opportunity to lose weight & get fit

applepineapple · 06/01/2021 16:34

Hi @Givemeabreak88 @SingToTheSky @10kaDay Smile glad to have some others who are also taking this time for themselves!

So far so good today, although it's about this time of day that I find myself reaching for the biscuit tin, must stay strong Grin

Breakfast: apple & cinnamon porridge
Lunch: broccoli & stilton soup, protein yoghurt
Snack: melon & grapes
Dinner: aubergine, tomato & mozzarella bake

Completed my lunch time walk with two laps of my local park and should hopefully have had four bottles of water by the end of the day

10kaDay · 06/01/2021 17:15

Looks good @applepineapple

Am also peckish but had a nectarine vs biscuits

The aubergine bake looks good - could you post a recipe/link?

applepineapple · 06/01/2021 18:01

Well done on the nectarine 10K ! Smile

It's a new recipe for us, I love aubergine but don't have it too often: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/aubergineanddmozzarella51464

The link didn't post correctly, hoped this works

It’s the evening’s in front of the telly Im struggle with, have to really stop myself from snacking

That recipe looks great may have to try it as well!

10kaDay · 06/01/2021 22:54

Thanks for the recipe - it’s one of my favourite meals so will give it a try!

Good day today - exceeded my activity goals & stuck to my meal plan. Feeling v good on a healthier diet & more activity too

My plan tomorrow: 45 min cardio video before work, 45 min walk at lunch, possibly a 10 min walking workout at home to get my steps up

A wrap for lunch as a bit of a treat tomorrow too (usually have a giant bean soup/stew)

My meal plan for tomorrow:
Bf: Greek yogurt, banana, tbsp granola, walnuts
Lunch: wrap W veggie bolognese, roasted veg & 1tbsp grated cheddar
Dinner: bean burger & green veg
Snacks: apple, orange (4pm munchies!)

SingToTheSky · 07/01/2021 14:13

I decided to take the opportunity for a longer walk today - got a phone call from school about a netbook loan for DD1 to do her school work on. Normally I’d leave the walk to DH as I’m still in the mindset of “I can’t do that much” (I’ve had fibro/ME for several years and have to be careful) but I know I have improved over the last year and I’m capable of more than I though. So although I have declined a lot since November lockdown and self isolating in December I decided to go. Tired now but the walk was ok, nice weather too! Feel a bit more optimistic now.

10kaDay · 07/01/2021 14:39

Good on the walk @SingToTheSky! Its definitely the right day for it - sunny & fresh

applepineapple · 07/01/2021 17:41

10k well done on exceeding your goals! I agree, it definitely feels good to get moving and eat well. I definitely feel sluggish and tired when I eat less healthily.

Sing sounds you had a good walk! I don't know where you are but in the SE it was so cold and bitter! I was aiming for three laps of the park but only managed two, my nose was beginning to feel like it might fall off!

Not too bad of a day for me here, stuck to the meal plan apart from a few mid afternoon nuts which jumped out at me from the cupboard Grin

Breakfast: apple & cinnamon porridge
Lunch: soup and fruit
Snack: protein yoghurt and mixed nuts
Dinner: roasted veg and cous cous

Exercise: 30 min Pilates and 40 min strength training. 2 laps of the park.

Sussex here but thankfully it was fairly nice! I’m freezing now though. Annoyingly my entire family seem to run much hotter than me so they don’t agree 🥶

applepineapple · 08/01/2021 17:05

Had a more quiet day today, not much exercise done but I'm planning on being a bit more active over the weekend Smile

Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: soup & protein yoghurt
Snack: fruit
Dinner: veggie burger and salad

Exercise: 45min Pilates and walk to the shops

OP posts:
MyVisionsComeFromScent · 08/01/2021 17:44

SingToTheSky - also a fibro person, also need to work on fitness, although I'm a lot better than I was this time last year, mostly down to having lost three stone. But, another three stone to go, plus now toning up (in a big way). I have an exercise bike which made a massive difference to my legs, and have a rowing machine ordered (except DPD seem to have lost it), so from now till Easter I have to actually get up off my bum, turn off MN and do some exercise Smile

It's really hard to get motivated when it's so cold and damp and miserable, but I'm a big believer in "fake it till you make it", so I'm going to force myself to get outside every day as well (unless it's torrential rain).

applepineapple · 09/01/2021 17:29

30 min HIIT and 60 min Barre session for me this morning, I always feel good after barre class Smile

Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: banana and bagel
Dinner: fajitas, my favourite Grin

OP posts:
sar302 · 09/01/2021 17:40

Oh hello! Can I join in please? This is exactly my goal. I figure I have til March some time realistically.

I was just getting serious at the gym before we went into tier 4 and then lockdown 🤦🏼‍♀️

So I've now moved on to a kickboxing programme, and also using my new Fitbit to remind me to move more.

We've also signed up to a meal delivery service for 4 dinners a week, so there's less food "lying around" and they're fairly veggie packed.

Quite tempted to hide my scales for a month and focus on getting fitter, rather than numbers!

applepineapple · 09/01/2021 18:08

Hi Sar definitely, the more the merrier Smile

I've not tried kickboxing but my friend loves it for fitness. The meal delivery service sounds fab too, anything to make cooking easier is a definite thumbs up from me Grin

If hiding the scales works for you then go for it, it's far too easy to get hung up on the number and not see the actual progress in your body and fitness levels, I'm definitely guilty of that!

SingToTheSky · 09/01/2021 18:18

I got on the exercise bike today for the first time in weeks, just doing 20min but before Christmas I was setting the timer for 15 so it’s an improvement I guess. Just so tired all the time! Determined to really make an effort now though. I’ve finally made a fitness tracker in my journal for the month with several ideas of what I can do each day so I don’t get bored.

applepineapple · 10/01/2021 16:33

I use a fitness tracker in my planner too, if I've already written it down for the week, I feel really bad if I don't actually do it Blush

Went for a long 4mile walk earlier, quite cold but I was pleased that I went out and got some movement in. I'm having a lazy Sunday really before I'm back to work tomorrow.

Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: stir fried veg (pepper, mushroom, tomatoes, kale, spinach)
Snack: banana and nuts
Dinner: sticky rice with butternut squash and broccoli

sar302 · 10/01/2021 18:17

This weekend has been fairly junky food-wise, but I did 40mins yoga yesterday evening. I at least felt virtuous whilst waiting for the pizza to arrive...

Lifted my toddler off the toilet this morning, and felt my shoulder ping 😭 so might focus on walking for the next few days til it feels a bit better.

applepineapple · 11/01/2021 18:31

Sar ooh no, hope your shoulder recovers soon! Definitely take it easy while it heals Smile

Back to work today, boo. I try not to sit at my desk all day but some days I'm just too busy to take regular breaks. I managed to fit in some Pilates and strength training earlier which felt good.

Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: stir fry veg and protein yoghurt
Snack: banana
Dinner: prawn and chorizo pasta

OP posts:
sar302 · 11/01/2021 19:51

Thank you! @applepineapple

Hasn't been too bad today, just tried to avoid too much hefty toddler lifting.

Did PE with Joe this morning - back to our lockdown staple - just avoided waving arms around! Still got my heart rate up though, so I'm counting it!

applepineapple · 12/01/2021 18:23

Spin and Pilates for me today. I got some cleats for my spin bike rather than using my trainers and it makes such a difference! I can really feel that I've used my whole leg and bum GrinGrin

Breakfast: porridge (again!)
Lunch: stir fry and yoghurt (again!)
Snack: banana
Dinner: fish cake and courgette

I'm really bad for having the same meal everyday, especially for breakfast and lunch so sorry if you're bored of reading the same menu Smile
