Team RH... Any good?

SatsumaFan · 01/01/2021 21:05

Anyone here been doing Team RH and been successful? I'm about 1.5 - 2 stone overweight and so unfit. Keep seeing it advertised with amazing before and after pics on Facebook and am tempted to sign up.

Only ever done Slimming World before and that was a few years ago.

Not so sure. Read here

SatsumaFan · 01/01/2021 21:23

@Kaiken thanks. I did a search for Team RH and didn't find that thread! It's fairly old now so not sure if much has changed. £60 is quite a lot of money to me so thinking I should just stick to free MFP and finding some YouTube workouts to follow/increase my steps and water.

I find him ridiculously shouty and annoying. And not hugely literate when I read through the sign up (this is NOT a sly dig but I think before I part with money for something, I like to have complete faith in the professionalism of the company etc etc)

There are no refunds either if you don't gel with it after say, one month. Unless he's changed that recently

But you may like him and his style and that's what it's all about. I like tough love with it comes to weight loss but he's just too ranty for my liking

SatsumaFan · 02/01/2021 09:40

@FelicityPlum thanks for your input. I've not actually watched one of their videos yet?! Blush but totally agree with him being ranty and shouty if his anti SW posts on Facebook are anything to go by...

I'm also a bit of a stickler for correct SPAG, esp when used for professional and business reasons.

You could calculate the calories and macros yourself.
And then complete 10,000 steps a day, drink 1600mls fluid. And it's the same really. Except u have a group and workouts provide.
I have been trying for a year on it but tbh I struggle to hit the macros and stay in the cals. I've not put any weight on though.
The videos are quite sweary but he makes total sense and it's is science and a lifetime change in lifestyle.

SatsumaFan · 02/01/2021 23:32

I've just signed up to the free Team Body Project thing. Looks good. Workout plans on YouTube and support on a Facebook group I've just joined too. The people seem a bit more up my street Smile

Well done for not putting any weight on in 2020! I piled a stone on Sad

Thanks! Did the low impact fitness test earlier and got on OK, so now looking forward to doing Day 1 of Week 1 tomorrow once the kids are at school Smile

No the guys an absolute prick. Absolutely slates normal people and rips them to shreds if they make a comment that's not 100% clued up. Hes a complete arsehole.

Walkingwithcats · 03/01/2021 17:54

I did team RH a few years ago. Appalling service, very little guidance or aftercare once they had my money, became abusive via email when I questioned some of the science behind their decision making.
Many of the links to workouts etc did not work and they rely heavily on Facebook (which I don't have).

Walkingwithcats · 03/01/2021 17:55

Couldn't have put it better than scbchl.

SatsumaFan · 03/01/2021 21:41

Oh thank you both for confirming my suspicions. Definitely won't be signing up to Team RH then!

Fingers crossed that after the two weeks of workouts I've got access to with Team Body Project that I don't all of a sudden have to start paying. I think it's about £12 per month for their package but at least you can cancel at any time (Team RH you pay for a year and there are no refunds)

Team RH isn’t exactly a con but they have a gold-plated fail-safe in that it’s so precise that it’s difficult to follow exactly. Then they can point to the fact that you didn’t weigh every morsel of food that crosses your lips and say that that’s why it isn’t working. I did lose weight with it but I couldn’t stick to the bloody counting. It’s not just calories, it’s macros as well - did you hit your protein? Did you hit your fibre? Did you hit your water? Did you hit your steps? It was a lot of protein and I found that hard to eat - I was on 1600 calories and trying to get something like 113g of protein. Richie would give advice about protein shakes or bars and I absolutely hate anything that tastes artificial, so they were all out. Plus doing 15k steps was taking a good hour’s walk after work (plus 40 mins at lunchtime) so I wasn’t getting home til 7.

So yeah, he’s not wrong, but I couldn’t live like that. He bangs on about the 80:20 rule, but I found that I needed all my calories to fit in enough protein and fibre. Maybe on good days I’d manage one biscuit. The easiest way of doing any calorie counting/macro counting diet is to eat pre-packaged food and I don’t eat like that - I was arguing with DH because he would cook and start chucking stuff in and I’d be quizzing him on what exactly he’d added and how many grams he thought it had been, and getting cross if he’d inadvertently put me over my calories.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/01/2021 23:32

I think the post that finally tipped me over the edge was when he was advising people to weigh apples and bananas and then weigh the core or the skin afterwards to calculate the exact weight. Life’s too short!

However, the basic principle of doing a lot of exercise to give you more freedom with food is a good one (if you like exercise! I do).

Oh my goodness! That sounds ludicrous Shock so glad I've decided to avoid them.

I haven’t experienced it myself, but the calories they suggest seem a little high to me.

There are simpler and easier ways to lose weight without counting, weighing and measuring 👍.

squaresandsquares · 04/01/2021 22:31

The don't take into account pyschological reasons you may over eat/not exercise. Which I think is a huge part of it

Bowcat74 · 18/06/2023 17:15

I am with team RH now started 19th May 2023 and as of today have lost 19lb! So does it work yes it does. They are very approachable you can reach out anytime to coaches.
yes you weigh and input everything you eat you get used to it it’s not difficult my targets are 105 protein, 26 fibre, 1600 water and 5000 steps a day I have disabilities and poor mobility and have still managed to lose.
his no sugarcoating say it as it is is a great kick up the bum but not for snowflakes. He tells it as it is no BS. 6.99 a month for your program, full access to coaches and a great community. The price speaks volumes he is not ripping you off. People give bad reviews because they can’t cancel if it doesn’t suit, what after you have been given the tools come on wouldn’t survive as a business if after everyone got there program they cancelled . It’s as clear as day before you sign up it’s a yr contract

This sounds like an advert from them 🤣

I would say for anyone thinking of joining, do a bit of googling, maybe have a look at the threads about him on tattle and make your own mind up

Chloe863 · 27/02/2025 17:46

STAY AWAY FROM TEAM RH UNLESS YOU CAN DEFINITELY COMMIT TO PAYING FOR 12 MONTHS!

I contacted them to cancel my account because, due to unforseen circumstances that I'm not comfortable with disclosing to any random person, I need to cut back on my outgoings. They want me to send them this, that and the other so they can "assess my situation fairly".

Why do I need to send proof I can no longer afford it? Just cancel the damn account.
