I found out about this book and audio this week from another thread and poster (thanks @ppeatfruit) and am finding it useful.

I found an old support thread from years ago but I dont think its still active.

Does anyone who is interested in this want to chat and support?
Or anyone who has used it in the past with good results want to give hints and tips?

I have tried every diet going and have had real issues with yoyo dieting but my big aim this year has been to make food not such a battle.

I feel this might just be the way forward for me. But I'm aware I'm in very early days.

Loving reading everyone's thoughts.

Absolutely to everyone and anyone joining.

I've been a bit off piste so not been on here.

But I feel re-energised and ready to be more mindful of food, movement and me in general

Thanks to everyone keeping it going in my absence.

Hello ladies can I join you please. I have just purchased the old book and CD. Read g the book it all just makes sense in a way dieting never has for me before. I have 2.5 stone to lose and 49 vegan with 2 teen children. Is the app good and worth buying. Thank you xx

Breathmiller · 07/03/2021 08:35

Welcome coconut80

I bought the book first then someone on here suggested the app and I found it great to really focus me every day. I've run through it twice now.

It is great and I love that I don't have such an issue with food as much as I did. It is loke any way of working though, if you don't do it, it doesn't work. I'm realising this now after a few weeks of not thinking about it.

It's almost like it was hard work for me and it worked really well but I got fed up of doing it all the time so stopped.

But now, I've relaxed about it and it feels like a way of life rather than a hard slog. It's like I needed to stop and then come back in a natural way and let it embed in.

But it will work differently for everyone as this thread has shown.

I have found myself thinking of going back to old strict dieting ways to lose quicker but I'm so glad I've resisted. I like not having to worry about it all so much.

I was watching a programme last night and someone said that the word diet comes from a latin word meaning 'way of life'. I liked that.

Great Breath There are so many ways of eating, we're all different and some ways are just easier and make more sense than others to SOME of us of course! As you say the word 'diet' has many meanings too, it doesn't just mean to go on a strict reduced calorie 'diet' though that's what most people think! (my little dictionary just says it's what we eat!).

Hi Coconut Grin

It's the mindfulness aspect of P.M. I like most I think

Breathmiller · 07/03/2021 12:31

Exactly ppeat

And i love how it inspires me to move.

Just done and hour and a half on the yoga mat then a walk (and a mini one song run) on the treadmill and on the exercise as we speak cycling my wee legs madly to Tina Turner's Nutbush.
A much better high than the one I get from stuffing my face.

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2021 12:43

Oh yes ! I do my 10\12 sit ups every other day and then yoga\pilates type stretches plus dancing to keep me fit. It's important mentally and physically. esp while we're locked down.

Breathmiller · 07/03/2021 12:45

exercise *bike

OP posts:
Breathmiller · 07/03/2021 12:46

Yes, absolutely. It's not just the physical side and the fact I will look better and fot my clothes better, its the mental aspect. Going to drag the troops out for a walk this afternoon too. Nature always helps with mood too.

Have a great Sunday afternoon everyone

Thanks Breath !

Coconut80 · 08/03/2021 10:22

Thank you ladies I'm still ploughing through the book. Really like the visualisation exercise if I make the changes and if I don't. I've bought every crap diet book over the years and this is the first one I feel is sensible. I'm a yoga fan too I'm currently doing yoga camp by adriene. Have a good week everyone xx

elizabethdraper · 08/03/2021 20:17

I just bought the app, haven't read the book but have read other books by paul McKenna

I am hoping this will help reset my emotional eating

Coconut80 · 08/03/2021 20:31

Same here @elizabeth if I'm upset or angry or down I just gorge mindlessly on food especially dairy milk and mini eggs hence 2.5 stone to lose. Xx

ppeatfruit · 09/03/2021 09:19

With me it's tiredness that seems to upset my eating thermostat! I have to remind myself (out loud!) to have a large hot drink if I feel like picking, it works sometimes!!

I also have to remind myself (out loud!) when I'm eating something delicious that I can finish it later or tomorrow, when I'm hungry again and not shove it down Grin Blush

Coconut80 · 11/03/2021 10:03

@ppeat yes if I am tired I pick when often I am hungry. I like the book in that you have to work out how hungry you are. I'm very guilty of mindless gorging. Leaving a piece on my plate will be hard and yes like you I have to learn that I can eat it tomorrow x

ppeatfruit · 12/03/2021 13:14

True Coco I like the way P.M. puts it; "Don't be a member of the 'empty plate' club" Some parents think their dcs have to eat everything on their, sometimes, overloaded plates. Children, and, of course, Paul Mckennaites. Grin have smaller stomachs so literally feel ill if they force the food down.

Coconut80 · 12/03/2021 18:34

Yes ppeat it's hard I am so anti food waste luckily I have chooks so they eat all my leftovers. Found it very hard not finishing my plate. X

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2021 08:32

Grin We have acquired a pheasant (he literally just turned up, we're the weird English in the village who take in all the strays !) who is eating almost all the bird food, which is leftover and bird seed which I'm running out of now of courses!) Though I am careful to put my tasty ones in the fridge.

I'm pleased because like you I would like to of keep chooks but I'd worry too much about pine martens and foxes, the pheasant looks after himself

pontiouspilates · 13/03/2021 08:41

To me this is the only way to lose weight that makes sense..I don't want to be on a permanent diet, so it's got to be about changing your mindset around food. I had great success with this a few years ago, then stopped. I'll dust off my book and start listening to the MP3 again!

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2021 08:44

Yes pontious it's soo simple too no counting calories or diet foods, it's worth revisiting ! I do it most of the time to keep my figure!

Brokenchair1 · 13/03/2021 08:47

Jumping on this thread. I did this year's ago but never fully committed. I have a horrible feeling book may have gone to charity but i think for me the audio book may work better anyway? I've gained 3 stone since having DD 9 years ago and lockdown hasn't helped. Someone below mentioned zoom. I am in daily meetings and absolutely hate the way I look on the screen :(

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2021 08:57

pontious and Broken I'm speaking for Breath (we're nice on here Grin btw ) Your're both very welcome Grin

I lost the 3 stone that had crept on around the menopause, and have maintained so it's very doable. I do a bit of acupressure to keep the facial muscles firmer . Broken

pontiouspilates · 13/03/2021 09:02

Thank you ppeafruit my weight gain is also menopause related, it's so much easier to gain than lose at this time of life. I'm going to listen to my MP3 now. Is the app worth it?

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2021 09:10

I have the books and CDs, not the app, someone on here will let you know. it'll probably be cheaper than the books and CDs now.

Brokenchair1 · 13/03/2021 09:23

Thanks. Just listened to the audio and now don't want to get out of bed. Visualised myself wearing some lovely clothes from my wardrobe that no longer fit.

pontiouspilates · 13/03/2021 21:03

I've bought the App. It's a 21 day programme, I'll start it tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted if there is anything else in it above and beyond the book and audio.
