I’ve been on the chunky side for my entire life and I’m finally in a place where I am losing weight steadily. I’ve still got a way to go but I’m starting to wonder where to set my final goal. I’m an hourglass shape and don’t want to lose my boobs and bum but at the same time want to be a healthy weight and be able to enjoy the occasional treat. My ‘normal’ weight was always around 13.7 stone and I’m currently 11 stone 10. I’ve stuck my goal as 11 stone but that’s just a randomly plucked number.

If you are 5 foot 7 what weight are you most comfortable at and why? How do you know that’s the best weight to stick to?

I am about 11 stone 10 now too. I would love to get to under 11 stone - 10 and a half I think I'd be "slim" but may not be achievable.
At my wedding I was under 9 1/2!! But went to the gym all the time so looked very toned and not skinny - not sure I could ever make it under 10 stone these days unless I didn't eat for a year!

ThatDirection · 20/10/2020 08:56

I'm around 11 10 too. Mid 40s. I'm not thought of as far but in photos look a bit lumpy around the edges. If I lost half a stone and maintained it, I think I'd lose it around my middle and bust and look much slimmer in clothes.

NationalShiteYear · 20/10/2020 09:41

I am 11st 13 but am trying to get down to 11.

I can see a big difference when I am at 11.10 or even 11.6 to be honest.

I am using the fastic app to try and fast

QueenBlueberries · 20/10/2020 09:45

ahahah funny! I'm 5'7 and 11.10 too. I am more comfortable at around 11.2 ish, but with the Covid stuff I reckon loads of people are putting a bit of weight on so I am not beating myself about it.

I am trying to go out for walks/runs a couple of times a week, and limit the crap I eat, but not too much. I've gone gin and slimline instead of wine. Does that count?

NationalShiteYear · 20/10/2020 09:45

I would add that I'm actually content with my weight, it looks ok on me. I'd just like to get it down a bit so it's well within healthy range

Whatthebloodyell · 20/10/2020 09:46

I’m currently 10.5 and would love to get back to my pre kid weight of 9.5, but I think that would take a lot of work now I’m over 40. My realistic target is 10, but to be honest as I age I am more concerned about being fit and healthy than I am about a number on the scales.

QueenBlueberries · 20/10/2020 09:46

I put weight around the middle, which is not healthy. when successfully losing weight in the past it was with low carb diet, not no carbs just less carbs and also less junk.

Youngatheart00 · 20/10/2020 09:47

I’m just a smidge under 5ft 7 and I’m currently 13st 7 and a size 14-16 which I’m very unhappy with. I’ve got a decent amount of muscle but definitely too much fat as well.

My absolutely super happy weight is 10 stone but my current goal is 11st 7 where I should be a comfortable, toned 12.

DialsMavis · 20/10/2020 09:47

I'm bigger at the moment but 11stone is about as low as I can go and I look slim at that weight

BusterTheBulldog · 20/10/2020 09:48

9st 10 ish is ideal for me. I’m about a stone too heavy at the mo 😬

Weepingwillows12 · 20/10/2020 09:49

I would love to be 10 stone but I think realistically would be happy with 11 stone. Currently 14st 5 and have lost a stone so long way to go....

Todaytomorrow09 · 20/10/2020 09:51

I’m slightly taller currently 11.6 would like to get to 10st but when I was that before a lot of people said I looked thin on my face. I look slightly better with a little weight on my face.
I’m looking to shift a stone but I’ve been trying to shift it for a while.....

lekkerkroketje · 20/10/2020 09:53

I'm happiest at exactly 10st (very precise!). A kilo in either direction and I feel tired and slow, both mentally and physically. 10st (63.5 kg) is between a 10 and a 12 for me. 65kg is already a 14. It's frustrating how weight sensitive my body seems to be both in shape and fitness levels, but equally it makes it quite clear when I need a few fewer glasses of wine so it's easy to fix. I should say though that I have almost no tits, so all the weight is going on my arse and waist. I guess with breasts, you get slightly more leeway, and it would push your happy weight up just by having the extra tissue.

PerfidiousAlbion · 20/10/2020 09:57

I find selecting a weight unhelpful due to frame size and muscle mass.

Why not try using a tape measure instead so that your aim is measurements of 36-26-36 or 38-28-38 for example?

justanotherneighinparadise · 20/10/2020 09:59

I’m l1 stone now and trying to get to 10 stone.

bigdecisionstomake · 20/10/2020 09:59

I'm 5ft 7 and currently weigh 10st 6lb. This is too heavy for me and I am currently counting calories to get down to my ideal weight range which is anywhere from 9st 10lb to 10st.

My build is very different to yours though. I have smaller boobs and bum and carry my weight on my tummy. Since menopause hit around 2 years ago this has become very pronounced with pretty much all my excess weight sitting on my torso making me very 'apple' shaped which I think makes me look heavier than I actually am - hence the attempt at losing a little.

If you are an hourglass I would expect you to be heavier than me at the same height and possibly still look slimmer if you have a nipped in waist. I really think you have to take your build into account too.

If I were you I would leave my goal at 11 stone and then when you reach it see how you feel and how you think you look and reassess from there.

Well done on the weight loss so far by the way, that's a great acheivement!

villamariavintrapp · 20/10/2020 10:14

8.5 stone. I'm more than that at the moment, but very pregnant.

Juno231 · 20/10/2020 10:15

I'm 11st 6 lbs and would feel a lot more comfortable at 9st 12lbs. Dream weight would be 9st 1lb but my lowest as an adult was 8st 2lb. I was far too skinny then though!

AriettyHomily · 20/10/2020 10:22

I look good, well, pretty good at 12.

I do a lot of HIIT type stuff so I'm pretty toned. I came out of lockdown at 13.6 but have got down again.

I haven't been below 10.6 since I was a non eating teen desperate to be skinny and I did not look good.

florencesthoughts · 20/10/2020 10:24

I feel most comfortable at 10.5 but I think weighing yourself can become obsessive and isn't that important. I focus on how tight the jeans are 😂

MrsTumbletap · 20/10/2020 10:29

I'm 5.7 and currently 11st 2lbs.

I'm chunkier than I want to be. But I got down to 9st 4 a couple of years ago and I was still chunky but just lost my boobs. Not great.

So I want to be 10st 7 that would be good.

Monkeybunkey · 20/10/2020 10:33

I'm just under 12 stone (11st 13lb) and am aiming to get down to 11 stone. I'm still in size 12 jeans though, which I use as a marker. Once they get tight, I ease off on the biscuits!

MsTSwift · 20/10/2020 10:33

Similar to you am 5 ft 6 was 11 st 9 do officially overweight BMI took 4 months but lost 2 stone so now 9 st 9. Noticeably different - dress size was 14 now 10. Need to maintain but have done for a year. For me intermittent fasting and upping cardio works.

ShalomToYouJackie · 20/10/2020 10:34

I'm 12st 9lbs now and a size 14-16.

Was really happy at 11st7lbs and goal weight is 10st7lbs.

This time 2 years ago I was over 17st.

bigdecisionstomake · 20/10/2020 10:48

This is why focussing solely on weight isn't that helpful as at 10st 6lb the thing that forced me into starting to lose weight is that I can't get any of my size 12 jeans to do up comfortably because all my weight is around my middle. In contrast, this poster is still able to fit in size 12 jeans at nearly 1.5 stones heavier (and presumably a similar height) meaning she is clearly much slimmer around that area than me.

I think there's no 'one size fits all' answer to what your ideal weight should be.
