I’ve been on the chunky side for my entire life and I’m finally in a place where I am losing weight steadily. I’ve still got a way to go but I’m starting to wonder where to set my final goal. I’m an hourglass shape and don’t want to lose my boobs and bum but at the same time want to be a healthy weight and be able to enjoy the occasional treat. My ‘normal’ weight was always around 13.7 stone and I’m currently 11 stone 10. I’ve stuck my goal as 11 stone but that’s just a randomly plucked number.

If you are 5 foot 7 what weight are you most comfortable at and why? How do you know that’s the best weight to stick to?

I'm 9st 4lb currently and 28 percent fat. Dress size 10, measurements 35, 27, 36. I was 12 and a half stone just over 2 years ago. I'm still aiming to lose a little more body fat which will probably involve losing more weight. I'm aiming for 26 percent body fat. Last time I was that fat percentage I was 8 stone 10. I'm losing weight through running and walking a lot and logging my calorie intake on FitBit to ensure a deficit. I try not to eat too much sugar or carbs too.

I don't know why I have to be on the low end of BMI to get a good fat percentage (pesky fat scales?). I think I have quite a small frame. My hips and shoulders are quite narrow, as are my wrists. My stomach is quite fleshy but I've got defined leg and arm muscles and you can see my collar bones a bit but they are not super defined. Losing the weight has been no bother though once I discovered I like running. The food is easy to sort out and log, I just cut my portions down mainly and fill the rest of my plate with salad and non starchy veg. Don't feel overly ravenous on what I eat.

I was at 12.5 in March I am now 10.11.

I’d like to lose another 7lbs I think I’d be able to get back into my size 10 jeans. I feel so much better now, I didn’t realise just how much extra weight I had put on & now awful my eating had become. Sometimes we just have to be realistic.

Wow thanks for all the replies! It’s amazing how different shapes can impact it isn’t it?

I’m a comfortable size 12 in tops now and a 12/14 in jeans dependent on where they are from. I’ve found I keep buying clothes too big because I’m almost scared of them being too small which I know is strange! I was 15 the last time I fit in a 10 so I think that might be unrealistic for me but it would be nice if it happened!

A lot of it also depends on where your fat is. I am broad shoulders but flat chest/no hips so I carry most of my fat around the middle, and size 12 is too small for me around the shoulders and tummy. It's not a healthy shape. I'd be fine if I carried my weight around the boobs and hip/bum, but no luck...

In 5'7 and have recently gone from 11st to 10st7. I'm still wearing 12/14 jeans. My goal is 9st7, because I doubt I'll ever have a flat stomach before that.

I've got a naturally slim and boyish figure with short legs and a long body, so don't carry weight well or look 'curvy'. I just look like a lump with a fat gut.

blue25 · 20/10/2020 11:53

9st is my comfortable weight. I’m just over at the moment. I look awful over 10st.

ultrababy · 20/10/2020 11:53

I’m 5’7 and currently weigh 9st 2. My ideal weight is 9st and I hate anything over 9st 4. I don’t have a healthy attitude towards weight and weigh everyday. I’m 44 and run a lot. Mostly because I enjoy it but also to regulate my weight.

munchbunch12 · 20/10/2020 12:01

At 5"7, for me 10 stone is my happy weight, where I look slim but my face doesn't look a bit pinched. I'm currently about 10 and a half stone.

FatGirlShrinking · 20/10/2020 12:05

I'm just over 5'7 and the ideal weight calculators say I should be 9st 13. I'm currently 14s7 so a bit above where I should be Grin but that's an improvement from 16st 7 a few months ago.

MacbookHo · 20/10/2020 12:21

I was 5’7” for years but have shrunk to 5’6”. 😔 I’m 9st 3 but aiming to get to around 8st 10.

hamstersarse · 20/10/2020 12:26

I’m 5’6.5 and weight just under 9 stone (I’m 46)

I hovered around 10 for a decade. Went low carb 3 years ago and I’ve been this weight now for 2.5 years with very little fluctuation or effort.

It feels good. I feel fit and well and definitely don’t have middle aged spread happening

QueenMabby · 20/10/2020 12:26

5’ 7” here. Last time I weighed myself (a couple of months ago) I was 9st 9lb. I’ve put on weight this year - partially biscuits and partially working out with weights - I’m more toned than I was.
I’m a size 8-10 and my measurements are 32-26.5-37.
This is the heaviest I’ve been for a while. Previously around 9st-9st 4lb. I am happier at this weight though. Not so anxious about being thin. At my lightest I was 8st 10lb but I can see from photos at that time that I was just thin and not very healthy looking - I was just rather scrawny!

dudsville · 09/11/2020 08:32

Ah, a thread for my height! I'm also an hourglass at my current weight and fear losing my boobs with my current weight loss plan. All throughout my growing up, 20s and 30s I was slim and a shapeless stick. I have enjoyed being curvy in my 40s but I am currently losing weight for health reasons. After having lost the covid pounds I was back at 12st and I'm now at 11.7. My initial goal was 11. I think 10.7 would be a great weight but that 11 might be more manageable. I'll see how I feel and look at 11 and decide from there.

roxisolerenshaw · 09/11/2020 14:41

I'm 5'7" and currently 9.12. My ideal is 9.3 but that's because I have a small frame and any extra weight sits round my middle which I hate.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/11/2020 09:29

I’m 5’6.5” so not quite tall enough to answer, but I’m happy at 9st6lb-9st7lb. My boobs only start to shrink at 9st4lb. I’ve been everything from 9st to 12st 10lb as an adult, (not counting the 14st6lb post first dc when breastfeeding skewed boob size) so have a range of weights to compare. I’m mid 40s and just reached my ideal weight for the first time in years!
