Am I being unrealistic trying to achieve this when I am a size 12-14?

I am 5 feet 7 and weigh 10st 6

Lost over a stone since April but want to go further, but do u think it is possible or am I being unrealistic?

I can't imagine how someone 5'7" would fit into a 6.
I'm 5'0", and even when I weigh 7st8lb, I'm an 8, not a 6!

haba · 24/06/2020 18:51

My DD is a 6, but she weighs 6st 10. She is a child though, and 5'3".

HoHoHolyCow · 24/06/2020 19:01

It probably depends on the brand of clothes you try. I have some size 6 trousers from Tesco, which fit me just as well as my size 10 (29 inch waist) Diesel jeans. I'm 5 ft 5 and weigh 8.5 stone.

To be a proper size 6 I'd probably need to weigh 1.5 - 2 stone less than I do!

Jemenfouscompletement · 24/06/2020 19:03

I'm 5'8 and weigh an athletic 9 stone, size varies but usually 36 in H&M, Mango. Jeans wait 26, it isn't unreasonable at all.

ShyTown · 24/06/2020 19:08

I’m the same height and am a UK size 8, occasionally even a size 6 in some brands that run large. I weigh 125lbs. It depends on your natural shape and frame though, I’ve never dieted to maintain this.

randomsabreuse · 24/06/2020 19:10

What's your ribcage measurement? How far are your hip bones from the edge of your hips? How broad are your shoulders and do you carry muscle on your thighs?

Might be possible but very build dependent...

Dozer · 24/06/2020 19:12

Why are you targeting dress sizes rather than BMI?

Dozer · 24/06/2020 19:13

Size 6-8 at your height would probably be v underweight BMI.

mynameiscalypso · 24/06/2020 19:15

I'm the same height and only a size 6 when my anorexia is full force and I'm underweight and even then, only just as my hips/ribs/shoulders are quite wide.

veryvery · 24/06/2020 19:21

At my lowest weight in my thirties at 5 ft 7 I was a size 10. This would be a modern size 8. I couldn't have lost more weight without being underweight according to BMI.

I am now a size 10 (nearly 20 years later) and about a stone heavier than then with a current BMI of 21.

iwilltaketwoplease · 24/06/2020 19:25

I'm only 5ft2 but I have flared ribs so I've got no chance of fitting in a size 6! It all depends on your body shape.

iwilltaketwoplease · 24/06/2020 19:25

Oh and in 8and a half stone if that helps.

ChaoticCatling · 24/06/2020 19:25

I'm a 6 on bottom and an 8 on top at 5'5 and about a kilo underweight. I was the same size at a BMI of 20 though.

CottonSock · 24/06/2020 19:26

Do you want to look like a skeleton

Samiad85 · 24/06/2020 19:27

I’m 5”5 weigh 8.7 stone and am a 6-8 dress size. I’ve been that size all my adult life (im 35 now) and that’s what’s natural for me.

I wouldn’t aim for a dress size though, what about aiming for 10stone for now and see how you feel? Then 9.5 stone if you feel you could do more. Has losing your first stone been hard or have you found it easy to shed? You have done really well to lose that since April.

healththrowawayx · 24/06/2020 19:28

I'm 5'0", and even when I weigh 7st8lb, I'm an 8, not a 6!

I’m a bit taller than you and weigh 50-55kg and am a 4/6 on top, 8/10 bottom. I have a defined waist and no boobs though.

PhoneLock · 24/06/2020 19:31

I'm 5'0", and even when I weigh 7st8lb, I'm an 8, not a 6!

It depends on your build though. The OP might be different.

I'm 5'6" 8st 3, athletic, and an easy size 6. I'm wearing an old pair of 25" waist shorts at the moment and DH has just called me Droopy Drawers. They are falling off.

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool · 24/06/2020 19:33

5’6” 8.5 stone and an 8 mostly but a 6 in brands that run big eg Boden, Next. Waist 26”.

BMI is lower end of normal range but I am small framed (and I don’t look like a skeleton 🤨)

ChaoticCatling · 24/06/2020 19:35

Do you want to look like a skeleton I'm still a size 6 in jeans or shorts when I'm at a BMI of 20, and I look healthy at a BMI of 18. I just have a small build and narrow hips. Your comment was very rude.

Pinkblueberry · 24/06/2020 19:41

I’m 5ft 6 and I’m a happy size 8-10. It depends on your frame OP, no matter how slim a got I doubt I would fit into a 6 - there’s very little fat on my hips and ribs, they are what they are I can’t make them less wide (not that a want to).

starterfor11 · 24/06/2020 19:43

I am 5'6" 8.5 stone and am a size 8. I do not look like a skeleton.....also not very underweight. I am I the normal BMI range.

IndieRo · 24/06/2020 19:43

I'm 5ft 3 and at my lowest weight I was 7st 11lbs. I wore size 6 from Primark and kids size 12 to 13 in New Look. I looked desperate and not at all attractive.

PhoneLock · 24/06/2020 19:43

Do you want to look like a skeleton

What a stupid comment. I don't and I doubt the OP would either.

pinkstar01 · 24/06/2020 19:47

It depends on your body shape. I'm 5ft and 7st 7 and I wear a 6 on top and 6 or XS in dresses. Pre baby I was 7 stone and fit into 4-6 in some shops.

I was within the healthy BMI btw

dudsville · 24/06/2020 21:39

Aw, I'm 5'7" and when i was young i was a 6. Later on in my 30s i became ill and became a 6 again. I didn't like the way clothes fit me then but i got compliments on being thin. I prefer being curvy but it is possible to be a healthy 6 at this height.
