Anyone lost or wanting to lose 5 stone ?

Has anyone lost or wanting to lose 5 stone ?

I have been overweight since a teenager, now 35. With everything that's been happening with the covid, reality has set in that I NEED to lose this weight - 5 stone.

Is this realistic in a year ? Using my fitness pal to track my calories and trying to incorporate some exercise.

Also, for those that have lost this much weight, were you left with saggy baggy skin ? I have stretch Mark's on my tummy and shoulders so this is a big concern.

I have 5-6 stone to lose. I started watching what I eat last week and so far have lost 2lbs. I occasionally use mfp but am going to start logging daily from the weekend. I'm hoping to lose 1-2lbs per week.

IndieRo · 11/06/2020 14:28

I lost 10 stone but got mini bypass surgery in Belgium. I lost too much weight so had to get it reversed. I previously had lost 3 stone for my wedding. No calorie counting as such, no fancy diets. I ate three meals a day, normal portions, drank 2 litres of water daily, gave up crisps and had a takeaway once a week for a treat. I also took up aqua fit and did that twice a week.

IndieRo · 11/06/2020 14:31

With regards to saggy skin I was lucky. The only place I got it was my tummy but a lot of that was having 3 babies weighing over 10lbs by c section. Ivevsince had abdominoplasity just for my own self confidence. Would have got away without it tbh.

I'm closing in on five-stone loss, and started my journey after Christmas. My goal is to lose 6.5 st in total, so still more to go.

The first few months I didn't add exercise in as I knew I couldn't outrun my fork and wanted to build in small and sustainable eating habits first. I then started C25k and have almost finished it - but this hasn't helped with weight loss, in my view; it's helped with health and fitness.

Skin issues - saggy tummy, but it's more about two pregnancies than loose skin from weight loss. And if I had had or do develop lots of loose skin, I know it's better than all the weight I had on.

Good luck op!

Titsywoo · 11/06/2020 20:51

I need to lose almost this much. No idea how but for me it's going to have be sensible changes rather than a fad diet so I am going to reduce my calories but eating low cal versions of what I eat now and go from there! Happy to be a weight loss buddy OP Smile

elliejjtiny · 11/06/2020 20:57

Can I join you please? 2.5 stone gone since Christmas and about another 8 stone to go.

hetoldmewhat · 11/06/2020 21:00

I'm closing in on 4 stone OP - from 16 stone to 12 stone in 6 months. I'm 29 and never been pregnant, but have got loose skin yes. A little on my stomach, a little on my hips from one angle.

But my breasts are wrecked. I'm large chested and they are now like saggy empty socks Sad

ChequerBoard · 11/06/2020 21:11

It's absolutely do-able. I have lost 10 stone since the 1st June last year. I did low carb (20g a day) but also tracked my calories and kept below 1200 a day.

Using an app to track (NutraCheck to log everything I eat and weighing food is crucial for rme.

I'm still tracking my cals but have upped my carbs a little as I was missing fruit very badly! Still losing but much more slowly now.

RooKangaroo · 11/06/2020 21:13

That's fantastic, @ChequerBoard, well done you!

fabulous40s · 11/06/2020 21:32

I've almost lost 4 and a half stone on a VLCD. I started in Jan. I'm on the last few pounds now which seems harder than the rest. And I'm a bit nervous about finishing as the second battle it maintaining! But it is doable and lock down is good as less temptation. Can't eat out and no one to drink with.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 11/06/2020 22:36

I'm in a similar situation as you OP and starting on Sunday I want to really focus on getting this weight off. We can do it!

tiredanddangerous · 11/06/2020 22:42

Me. I’m 5ft 6 and 17.5 stone. I’ve been this size since dd1 was born 12 years ago (although I’ve never been smaller than a size 14). I’ve recently turned 40 and I really need to crack this. I wasted my 30s being fat and unhappy, letting my weight stop me from living my life fully. I can’t live another decade like this.

NathanNathan · 11/06/2020 22:45

I could have written your OP!

I started the Blood Sugar diet and did 7 weeks, now on 5:2 and have lost 2 stone so far.

Lockdownseperation · 13/06/2020 09:09

I’m planning on loosing 4 stone, 5 would be nice but 4 stones put me within the healthy range. I watched the bbc ambulance documentary last night and there was a story about a lady aged 40 who died from breast cancer leaving her 7 year old behind. In 3 years I will be 40 and my oldest child will be 7. I need to get healthy for them.

How are you planning on loosing weight? I’m thinking sensible eating, 3 sensible sized meals a day, half plate veg and no snacking. My youngest child will be 1 in a months time and the baby weight is not starting to go at all.

Morningtviscrap · 13/06/2020 11:57

Really impressive stories on here. I am about four stone overweight. Every now and again I start exercising and tracking on mfp then I lose motivation.

I really want to try again and think I need to take a note moderate approach and aim for one pound weight loss a week.

Weekend boredom eating is my biggest problem. What are your biggest challenges OP?

Lemming35 · 13/06/2020 21:16

Sorry guys, hectic day with a 2 year old yesterday !

Thanks very much for your replys 5 stone should be doable if I remain focused. My problem is I lose a couple, feel great then drop the ball and put it back on.

I was going through mfp last night and saw when I last September I was 15st, so i have lost a stone from then.

Would like to be between 9-10st ideally.

No plan specifically. Just recording everything I eat on mfp and keeping below 1200 calories. I would like to do c25k, once I've lost a little.

I gave high blood pressure and history of heart problems in the family, I am terrified/ convinced I'm going to have a stroke. Tbh I'm probably turning into a hpercondriact, every ache and pain I'm convinced is something serious :( anytime I go to the doctor I know theres a judgement because of my weight.

I have roughly 5 stone to shift. I'm not weighing and using a ribbon to measure. I have put on 3 stone since March Blush because I'm an emotional eater and my husband (H) being around is a trigger. He has been home for 14 weeks and I'm going insane. He takes up so much of my energy just by being around. I know I need to get out of this relationship and I will but first I need to get this weight off. I'm aiming by christmas, he goes back to work tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm going to do exante 3 vegan shakes a day.

Morningtviscrap · 14/06/2020 14:03

FthisS sorry to hear that. If things were bad before lockdown the last few months must have been very difficult.

I can do the 1200 calories for a couple of weeks and then lose motivation. Initially I don't even find it difficult. I enjoy eating better and feel better. Can't understand why I never stick with it.

FthisS · 14/06/2020 14:31

@Morningtviscrap it was pretty bad before but I hardly saw him. He worked as a singer 5 nights a week and worked 5 days also. I'm a huge introvert and can't be around other adults anyway as it drains me something which he has always claimed is made up and would never even educate himself on. I actually get palpitations when he is around he puts me on edge that much.

Anyway today is going well. I've drank lots, oxo have brought out vegan beef cubes which are great as a drink. Tomorrow when he goes back to work I know I'm going to feel so much happier.

I've got a wardrobe full of size 10 winter clothes which I will be wearing this year.

Isawthathaggis · 14/06/2020 14:38

I’ve got five to loose. It’s so hard getting started isn’t it?
I have to put myself in the right head space where I don’t mind being hungry. Accept that, probably, you should feel a bit hungry all the time, and that you when you feel hungry that feeling is as bad it gets (hunger feels like proper pain to me). That I need to eat to stop feeling empty and stop as soon as that feeling goes. Not eat until I feel full iyswim.

It takes many false starts for me. I’ve done it before.

DianaT1969 · 14/06/2020 15:04

Regarding saggy skin. Google the effects of autophagy. Dr Jason Fung. Incredible before and after results on FB groups.

YerAWizardHarry · 14/06/2020 15:07

1200 is far too low and unsustainable. If you're around the 14st mark you can lose comfortably on 1800 without doing any exercise

Uppingham · 14/06/2020 15:27

I have dieted on and off for last 7 years and always eaten c1000 to 1200 calories when dieting. Never managed to stick to it as was always starving. At best lost 8kg then gave up. However the last 3 weeks I’ve aimed for 1400 calories a day and have had no trouble sticking to the diet. Am losing 1kg/week so far. Have upped my exercise jogging 5km at least twice a week. I did couch to 5k in 2018 never having run before. Would like to weigh less than 67kg to have healthy BMI but ideally be around 57-60kg. Which seems a dream now but slowly slowly hopefully I’ll get there. Well done all of you who have dieted so well.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 14/06/2020 16:00

I lost over six stones in my late 40s. It's doable and don't let anyone tell you otherwise Smile
