Anyone fancy helping a lardy butt who needs lose a hefty 3 stone

I've just looked up my BMI and i'm obese I knew I was overweight, but still it's hard to hear(or technically, hard to see since I looked it up on the net!)

I started a diet today and wanted to know if anyone wants to join me and support a chocoholic kick the habit and possibly fit back into some of my lovely smaller clothes.

And with ref to the BMI the suggested weight for me is 9st1 which in all honesty would be totally impossible to reach. I was going to go for 10 1/2 st to start or maybe 10st. I'm 12st10 atm so that's a fair loss to aim for anyway. And i'm not sure i've been 9st1 ever When I was 18/19 I was 9 1/2st and looked good IMO

Hi I'll join you. I have lost 2 stone and have 1 to go. I'm also a chocoholic! There is no easy way but I'm trying to make it a lifestyle change rather than a diet as I dont want to have to lose the weight again! One tip is as clothes get baggy give them to charity then there is no going back!

Dont look at how much you have to lose but look at it a stone at a time or an event at a time for example by xmas you want to hav elost x amount of weight. I find small goals to aim at are less intimidating than the big one!

Goodluck

Eddas · 18/09/2007 16:29

thanks sunshine, you're right about the small goal setting thing and the lifestyle change. Basically I am trying to cut out the rubbish. I'm going to meal plan so there's none of my usual 'shit is 5pm and I haven't thought about dinner yet' happens at least 5 days a week normally!

I have no will power but I have asked dh to help and MAKE me stick to it as I am really unhappy about my weight atm.

I think my first weightloss goal will be to lose a stone before my birthday(24th November) then to lose all the weight I don't want(or need) by my next birthday which is the big 30 I want to be able to have a party and not hide in a tent putfit all night

oh and re the clothes, I will rid myself of my fatty outfits (if I get out of them!). I did try the tactic of not buying new clothes after having ds(5 months ago) but I just ended up wearing maternity clothes for too long after giving birth

Day 2 now and i've done ok so far. Haven't eaten any crisps or chocolate which is VERY good for me

I'm going to weigh in on mondays to see how it's going. Unlike my usual diet attempts I will be trying to resist the urge to weigh more often than once a week we'll see

sunshine78, are you still joining me? do hope so otherwise i'll be talking to myself which isn't unheard of in my house

ANyone else who wants to join in? Believe me my willpower will give in, probably in about 5 days time so I really could use the support

Hi eddas im in!! need to lose weight too and im a complete chocoholic and holic really im a total walking garbage disposal unit the last week!! .

Im feelin fat and frumpy and very uncomfortable in myself. I have zero willpower although i did do slim fast for a whole week! yes a whole week an applause is necessary i think!!!!

But the past month i have put on a stone completely digusting and im appalled at myself. So just shoved the last bit of raisin toblerone into my mouth and have to say feeling rather sick now but no more choccie in the house and will only buy kids white choccie cos its vile stuff.

So we are aiming for a stone by the 24th november?

ok girls skinny hips here we come

Eddas · 19/09/2007 17:53

Yay, another companion

So we're having our first target as a stone by 24th November, we'll all be slim jims for my birthdayThen i'll eat loads of cake

sugar34plum · 19/09/2007 18:28

Charlee · 19/09/2007 18:33

Oh sod it i may as well join you! im 5'4 and i wiegh 12 stone! [eek]

I aim to just stop snacking on crap - my meals are in general not that unhealthy but i snack like a pig on choccy and sweets.

I aim to loose about a stone by xmas.

Excersise is hard with a disabled 3yr old and an 10 month old baby in tow but i do alot of shopping so i walk quite a bit.

Eddas · 19/09/2007 23:12

Charlee, you could be me, just a little skinnier (i'm 5ft4 too, but 12st 10)

Glad I won't be jabbering to myself

Went to a friends for dinner tonight and I was very good> She did chiken kiev and oven chips with a bit of salad, so that was fine. Then for pudding she did lemon meringue(did I spell that right) and I said no thanks but then it wasn't chocolate so not too hard to decline So I have now done 2 whole days of dieting

Can I join you too please? I'm in desperate need of some moral support. I've got 4 stone to lose. I started my diet last Monday and lost 5.5lbs in the first week so feeling very chuffed with myself but know I will struggle to keep it up.

Charlee · 20/09/2007 08:18

I have had toast and an apple with a glass of water for breakfast!

It's usually Nuttellas preaded as thinck as i can get away with on toast and a big milky coffee!

Sunshine78 · 20/09/2007 08:20

Sorry was day off work yesterday (sit at computer all day at work!) and didn't get chance to turn home computer on! I also get weighed on a Monday so we'll be able to compare how we've done. I haven't had chocolate for 11 days now! I nearly gave in yesterday after going round Morrisions with my 2 but resisted.

Sunshine78 · 20/09/2007 08:23

I've just read your profile charlee and you'll be glad to know my DH is running the great north run a week Sunday for CF. We've both got relatives with it so it is a cause close to our hearts aswell.

Charlee · 20/09/2007 08:25

Thats fab sunshine! when i have lost this wieght (which you can see in my profile pic!) i am going to do more of the active funraisers, i wouls love to do one of the walks in india or Ben Nevis but i have no babysitter dot that long!

My dad is organising a base jump for CF soon.

Eddas · 20/09/2007 08:27

lubyloo, please join in, the more the merrier! Well done on that lose in a week> I hope mine will be that successful

Charlee, well done on the breakfast. I'm having a cuppa then some fruit and fibre. Trying to resist bread atm, but had a slice of marmite on toast yesterday at about 5 as I was sooo hungry and my dinner wasn't til about 7.30/8

Sunshine, glad you're still about. Well done on not buying chocolate. Chocolate will be my downfall, eventually why does it have to taste so nice

nappyaddict · 20/09/2007 08:28

can i join you? i'm aiming to get back to my pre-preg weight so i need to lose a stone.

i think i'm going to do weigh-ins every other week, that way if i have a bad few days it won't matter cos i can make it up.

Eddas · 20/09/2007 08:30

The most my lardy butt has done fundraising wise is the race for life! and i walked round! Would like to do the 10k race for life and actually run maybe next year

DH ran the london marathon in 2000, not sure how he did it, my legs would never last that distance

OP posts:
Charlee · 20/09/2007 08:30

My key board going up the watsit!

Eddas · 20/09/2007 08:33

nappyaddict, please do join in, weigh whenever you lie too. My aim is really to start a support thread as I could really do with it. I so want to lose this weight and feel happy within myself. It's my lack of willpower that's the problem becasue I know I can survive without the crisps/chocolate etc I just eat it anyway.

Thanks everyone, I thought my thread would end up in the unanswered section It's really nice to have some support, thanks you

OP posts:
Charlee · 20/09/2007 08:34

themildmanneredjanitor - i am sorry if i offended anyone, i am aware some people need to ose a lot of wieght to be within a healthy range and i didn't mean to upset anyone.

However when having even 3 stone of excess wieght makes you feel like you are nothing it does seem bad, i think it depends on the person carrying the wieghts feelings on it, but again sor i offende

Eddas · 20/09/2007 08:34

ok, janitor, but it doesn't actually say about being 12stone in the title, just losing 3 stone. I will start another thread and link us to it. Don't want to cause upset.
