Apologies for the terrible title but I wanted to encapsulate the boss and how supportive everyone is.

Sounds like a good day @Foreverlexicon Can you come clean mine too?

Sounds like a stressful juggling act @RubySlippers77. Are your little ones going back to school? That might save your sanity a bit.

Hope you got more sleep @SunshineCake I'm also usually up at 6AM and tend to go to bed at 10.

Wow @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 your garden sounds way ahead of mine. Strawberries only just flowering and tomato plant still fairly small. Have some rocket and sugar beet leaves I could snip for a salad though Grin

Have a good day all, up an hour already and 2 bits of admin done while it's quiet and I can concentrate. Long day ahead! Check in with you all later.

SunshineCake · 28/05/2020 07:18

5am *@RubySlippers77?!?Angry. That should not be allowed. I hope that doesn't happen again. I slept really badly, just ate two squares of chocolate as I am two pounds up. Could you suggest your partner pulls his weight in the evening so you can run then? It isn't like you would be out for hours?!

I need help.

I am definitely getting fitter as yesterday I ran five minutes (run number 10) without stopping but I am not losing any weight. I can not 100% avoid the foods at the moment, I could go in the bike more but I keep getting told weight loss is about food not exercise. I have lost inches but how do I lose weight? DD said something about muscle being denser than weight, hence the numbers not going down, but I don't understand all that. DD said focus on the inches off and not the numbers in the scales but I need the numbers to be lower .

[grin]**@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50* at your staying alert. Well done Star.

My peas and kale are doing well and DS1s potatoes the same.

I will get up now and walk the dog. We were out for a couple of hours yesterday and she still wasn't ready to come home. The dishwasher man is coming 12.30-3.30 so she might get to go back to the park after lunch too.

I have no idea what to suggest. Did the IF ever work or did you not try it for very long?

RubySlippers77 · 28/05/2020 14:35

@MrsJonesAndMe the DC are going back to school - I wasn't sure as I'd asked the school to clarify arrangements and they hadn't, but the DC's names are on the list to start Monday, so they must have thought they did! We will give it a try, I can see that the DC may be quite upset by it as the teachers will have PPE to hand (and some may be in it) and there's less 'play' learning for the little ones and more formal learning, as it's the only way the school can try to keep more social distancing in place. My old primary school (from many years ago, but I follow them on social media!) have said today that they won't be reopening for all DC as they simply don't have the facilities, they've tried to make it work but after consultation with the local authorities have come to the conclusion that they can't do it safely yet.

Well done on your fitness levels @SunshineCake. Honestly when you remember how ill you were not very long ago, you have done amazingly! I do believe that weight loss is something like 90% food and 10% exercise Sad - could you try following something like Slimming World to see if they can help you adapt a weight loss diet to your intolerances? Just thinking that you could factor in treats like chocolate then too, and most of the diet companies are offering good deals at the moment as of course they are online only for now.

DP has hurt his arm lifting something heavy at work - he's managing to work for now (which is good, as we need the money!) but I fear that anything like a request to push the vacuum cleaner round will tip him over the edge into major moaning territory. TBH I tend to ignore him now if he comments on the house being a tip - it isn't that bad but there's definitely room for improvement! - as he is contributing zero to the cleaning and tidying.

Well done on your exercising and weight loss compliments @Foreverlexicon!

And of course, well done to @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 on staying Cake alert Grin

@MrsJonesAndMe

I have no idea what to suggest. Did the IF ever work or did you not try it for very long?
When I was initially tested I had to avoid nearly thirty things. My friends laughed that no wonder I lost weight, I had nothing left to eat! I didn't go hungry though and I found treats to help as my lunches were much the same every day though eventually I got into a routine of rotating my three favourites so it was okay. Gradually as I had more tests I was able to introduce more things and then the last three or four months I would say I have just been having everything. I seemed okay, weight was slowly coming off, I didn't seem to be having symptoms and it got hard and I was fed up. I have just realised you asked if intermittent fasting worked! Oops. I felt that did work, that was probably more why the weight was coming off but I got a bit lazy and also the eating the foods in the intolerant list. I think the key is avoid the relevant foods and go back to IF. Add in my running and hopefully....

*@RubySlippers77 Good luck with the children going back to school. Let us know how you and they get on. I can only imagine how the little ones are feeling. I have just read a tweet from my 19 year old and it broke my heart a bit as while he is coping fine, he has missed out in much from having to come home early.

I braved Asda today. I was challenged too as I have started feeling fretful about going out and was happy never to again. I did the shop, it was hard as not everyone is following the direction signs or the distancing but the checkout lady was kind to me as I was stressed but I did have chest pains at the till. I wonder if that is anxiety? I am still coughing occasionally, it I literally maybe twice a day so not a big amount, but I still feel I am not quite 100% and I feel weak about that. Annoyed I'm still not myself but you are right, I went to flipping hospital on April 5th but this is quite a few weeks ago now.

I will look at slimming world. I used to do diet chef but it is tricky with the whole family to feed and a child who eats like a bird and I can tell she has lost weight even though she says she hasn't.

Perfect your Paddington Bear Stare if your DP dares to say anything out of order.

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 28/05/2020 20:04

Glad to hear they're going back @RubySlippers77 and glad you're not giving DP sympathy - he's not got any for you has he?

When I cut gluten and lactose, the weight dropped immediately. It leaves very little! Hence me not sticking to it for very long Grin No worries, general musings on a tangent totally allowed! The running is doing you a lot of good - even if not on the scales.

Well done for getting out. It is definitely a psychological barrier. I think I've been helped by the fact that I haven't stopped working, we've not been ill and we've just tried to get out every day. Of course I don't want to catch it (or my family) but think we do need to move forward now -cautiously. The Government on the other hand Hmm don't seem to have a clue about what they're doing!

I do feel sorry for all the people who have missed out in so many ways!

I wanted to eat more than I did today. I was stressed. Instead, I closed my window and did Joe Wick's basic HITT and a quick yoga stretch too.

Hope your day was OK @fallfallfall and @Foreverlexicon

fallfallfall · 28/05/2020 21:35

hi everyone, i'm trying to behave with the calorie count. but activity wise i'm doing well easily managing my 6,000 steps (did over 7.5K yesterday) and doing 30 minutes of biking (which because of HR doesn't always equal 30 minutes of exercise. i had my first physio appointment, which was helpful (intuitively i was doing 2 out of 4 of the exercises) and had recognized myself an area of mobilizing i need to work on (going down steps). but i made two or three days of poor food choices (nuts, and ice cream due to lack of will power).
i'll catch up on the posts in a bit.

SunshineCake · 28/05/2020 22:31

I forgot to go on the bike but did walk the dog twice. It is hard to do as dh uses the Lounge for work so I can't cycle in the day and then in the evening I am tired or just not in the routine of the bike yet to remember. Tomorrow I run and then I have to take the cat to the vet for his yearly jabs.

Night all.

@mrsjonesandme we bought a cheap wooden mini greenhouse and cold frame from Aldi and they've done a great job of keeping all the seedlings toasty warm and getting them growing really fast.

@SunshineCake and @fallfallfall well done on all the running and exercise sounds like you're going great guns. Other than a bit of low effort gardening I'm pretty much one with my sofa and office chair at the moment 😁

@Rubyslippers we got the risk assessment for DDs school and it just sounds so clinical and I'm really not happy that they've planned for only 15 minutes outside time morning and afternoon, in all over lunch, no PE. DD is an outdoorsy kid, not sure she can stand all day at a desk. I think we'll wait a week or two, see how they get on with the initial group returning and if it seems ok we'll ask for DD to go back. If not then it won't be the end of the world if she's off till September.

fallfallfall · 29/05/2020 02:50

forever I find your simple food choices inspiring.
torys your garden’s well ahead of mine as well.
sunshine well done on the exercise.
mrsjones I would like to start something online, not sure what??? It will come to me.
In the mean time I’m doing my physio exercises while I do the dishes.
My dd hasn’t really discussed her thoughts on school returning.
I’ve met with some friends in their garage as it was raining; small group 6 ft apart, knitting and chatting. I’ve booked a restaurant meal on Friday and haircut in 10 days.
Ice cream calling my name from inside the freezer but I think a cup of chocolate tea will tide me over.

Foreverlexicon · 29/05/2020 05:15

Morning everyone. Another day.

I went a few hundred calories over yesterday. It was dp’s mums funeral and she found it really difficult. It was streamed online so I was able to watch it which was nice if very sad. Just a tough day. However I ran 10k and rode the horse so not beating myself up for going a bit over as still well into a deficient.

Back to work today which I found helpful last set so fingers crossed. I also hopped on the scales after lunch and weighed 0.2 less than I did when I weighed in first thing the other day so I think I might meet my goal for Tuesday.

Yesterday’s food
B - rice cakes with peanut butter and banana
L - cobb salad
S - half a banana, chocolate
D - mushroom risotto, garlic bread, broccoli
S - chocolate
E - ran 10k and rode horse

Also managed to bruise the bottom of my foot running on a very stony path yesterday which is annoying as it’s pretty sore! Hopefully will clear up fast.

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/05/2020 06:28

5AM start - combination of stuff whirring round my mind and DS sneezing! A long to do list, but also hopefully meeting a friend for a much needed catch up. Gone from meeting weekly to not seeing each other since mid March!

@fallfallfall nuts are very good for you! Glad to hear the foot is making progress and proof that you know your body. Enjoy the meal and haircut! We can only dream of those Wink

Well done @Foreverlexicon and (((hugs))) to you both

Good luck with the cat @SunshineCake you don't need luck for the run - you're doing very well!

Ah, that would help @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Just trying not to buy more and more stuff as we've been decorating, so already new curtains, a throw and cushion and have other things we want to do in the garden (fencing) and the car needs work Hmm

Bizarre that your school won't be outside, apparently that's one of the key things to reduce infection???

Hope you're OK @RubySlippers77 and that you had a bit more rest. DS's school wrote last night that due to an increase in key worker children returning, they can only accommodate year 1 now - with 4 days notice!!! I imagine Reception parents had been prepping their children for a return and now it's not happening (this week at least, might be different next week)

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 29/05/2020 07:45

@MrsJonesAndMe the outside thing is because there are usually 3 classes of 30 children in year 1 using the yr 1 playground.

To achieve the 2m distance in class they've had to split those into groups of 8-13 depending on which room they have, so yr 1 as a whole would now be 12 groups and they have to use the playground just 1 group at a time.

So the less people who send their kids, the less groups and the more time each group could have in the playground. But if all attend then 15 mins am and pm is the max they could schedule.

I think the biggest flaw in the government planning is expecting desks to be 2 m apart, it would be better to go with normal class sizes and normal class rooms. They're not going to be able to effectively keep the kids apart anyway within each group.

Plus with each year taking up 3-4 times the normal number of rooms, there is no way they can bring back any of the yrs 2-5 as no where to put them.

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/05/2020 11:24

Oh gosh, that's quite a big school then. DS's only has 1 class per year.

Friend flaked on me for the 2nd time this week and I try not to take it to heart as she has anxiety, but it's wearing to always be cancelled on. I'm now tired and grumpy and have already had cake!

SunshineCake · 29/05/2020 12:40

Morning all Good afternoon Blush.

I left home early to give my dog a good walk and so I could run before the park got hot and busy. I managed to pause my phone so my first five minute run turned into eight minutes but I managed. We were out for two hours and my phone said I walked 5.7 miles.

Once home I put a wash on, walked to the post box, have made carrot, parsnip and sweet potato soup, pegged out a wash, loaded the dishwasher, made fruit salad smoothie and lollies and prepared new potatoes for dinner. Don't know what I'm doing after lunch yet.

OP posts:
Foreverlexicon · 30/05/2020 04:55

Nothing particularly interesting to say about yesterday. Went 100 over but that’s still fine. I didn’t exercise apart from riding.

B - Greek yoghurt, Strawberries, blueberries and banana
L - cobb salad
D - chicken satay, rice and green beans
S - chocolate (a bit too much)
E - rode

Onwards another day.

SunshineCake · 30/05/2020 07:03

Morning all

I forgot to report a loss yesterday and this morning I have lost inches off my thigh, up one on my tummy but are yet to weigh.

Awake too early but having a nightmare so maybe for the best, I've managed to order some yeast and other bits from Lakeland and am debating getting up to potter about before everyone else is up.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I'm planning on making a buffet for everyone while I have left over homemade carrot, parsnip and sweet potato soup. Curry for dinner but I won't have the naan and maybe not the rice either Confused.

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 30/05/2020 13:47

Hi all

I've had another early start and bad eating, but my window today will be shorted due to the fact that I started an hour later. Now just need to close the window at normal time!

Saw a friend today and that was lovely!

Hope you enjoy your curry with nothing @SunshineCake Shock can you have Quinoa? Cous cous? Lentils? Well done on the exercise and the inches lost!

Just keep swimming Wink @Foreverlexicon you're doing well.

SunshineCake · 30/05/2020 16:59

Hi all

I ended up having a lovely buffet with everyone else and my curry is chicken, rogan josh jarred sauce and mushrooms. Can't have rice as intolerant to it nor the naan as they have wheat in but I'm fine with my chicken bit and may have some salad with it. Can't have cous cous as it isn't gluten free

I made a giant doughnut cake and will risk a small piece. I thought I was making a giant doughnut but we'll see how it tastes.

Haven't been out for a walk today but haven't stopped all day plus did some weeding so tomorrow I will run and push myself a little.

Have a good night everyone.

I've had a zen kind of day giving one of DDs a new head of hair after she scalped the sodding thing yesterday and then felt bad about it.

Food

B - nothing
Lunch - sausage cob
Dinner - will be steamed baby corn & sugarsnap peas with cold stuff like boiled egg. The fruit for pudding

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 30/05/2020 17:17

Ooops one of DDs Barbies a new head of hair that should say

SunshineCake · 30/05/2020 17:31

My curry was nice and I added red pepper strips and salad.

The cake tasted like cake so it was a lot of effort, ingredients and stress for something I could have made with my eyes shut if I had just wanted cake. Had a bit, was okay, not worth the tummy ache I will probably get.

OP posts:
SunshineCake · 30/05/2020 17:33

Missed your post, *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 and the worse thing was I didn't bat an eye lid when I thought you had scalped your child!

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 30/05/2020 18:18

That is very tough @sunshinecake but your dinner sounds nice.

Oh dear, poor Barbie Grin Not a lot of food @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50!

I've brushed my teeth, so only ate inside a 6hr 45min window, but oh my did I eat crap! Because I feel crap, despite knowing that eating rubbish make me feel rubbish Hmm

Need a good night's sleep!
